     Hermelin Kaijin / Helper's Club

Akihiko Kasuga

Played By: GMPC
Kaijin: Ibaraki-Douji
Elements: Fire / Havoc

A second-year student at Our Lady of Hermelin and the game's Lord equivalent. An aspiring Intrepid Reporter and former member of the Newspaper Club, Akihiko's school life was changed when he intervened in bullying incidents against Yui. Though he succeeded and also put Eisuke in the hospital in the ensuring fight, Akihiko's reputation was tanked, leaving him with only Saya as a friend. His Kaijin form is Ibaraki-Douji, the infamous oni that rampaged through Japan's countryside, specialising in Fire and Havoc attacks.

  • Affectionate Nickname: 'Aki-kun' or 'Akkun', courtesy of Saya.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: In both Kaijin and human forms; Akihiko knows some form of kung-fu and applies it in his transformation as Ibaraki-Douji.
  • Bash Brothers: With Mildred.
  • Berserk Button: Bullies and anybody hurting Saya.
  • Blood Knight: Hinted at by his Talent Bloodlust and his Inner Demon speaking to him before giving him the power to transform; Akihiko loves a good fight and the thrill of danger. He generally limits to the Onibi and those who deserve it, however.
  • Bully Hunter: His backstory; one of the bullies he hunted was a very popular Jerk Jock, the fall-out from fighting him causing Akihiko's fall from popularity.
  • Childhood Friends: With Saya.
  • Chronic Hero Syndrome: Akihiko suffers from this, which precipitates Saya's transformation into an Akuma out of worry that she can't protect Akihiko.
  • Declaration of Protection: How he overcomes Ibaraki-Douji; he wants to use his power to protect Saya and everyone else fron the Akuma.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: With Mildred; the first time both met was when Akihiko fought Eisuke and the two proceeded to lay waste to him and his friends in the process.
  • Foil: Is this to Mori: Akihiko is an unpopular student who sticks to his guns, Mori is willing to lie and cheat to maintain his popularity. Akihiko is a Bare-Fisted Monk who can fight his way out of most situations, while Mori tends to avoid direct conflict and uses social manipulation to avoid the fight. However, Akihiko is self-assured of who he is and grasps the power of a Kaijin to save Saya, while Mori is afraid of who he is and fears becoming an Akuma. This even extends to their Kaijin forms; Ibaraki-Douji is a folkloric demon well-known for rampaging through Japan and raising hell, while Fantomas is a French literary character from the 1900s known for being a murderous Phantom Thief.
  • Force and Finesse: Akihiko, the trained martial artist, is the Finesse to Mildred's unrefined, but strong brawling Force. Best shown during the first battle; while Akihiko relies on acrobatic manoeuvres to land strikes on his enemies, Mildred simply throws the heaviest object she can find at the Onibi.
  • Intrepid Reporter: Aspires to be this.
  • Knight in Sour Armor: Akihiko has some traits of this; despite his cynical-seeming facade, he still believes in fighting for the right thing and protecting others, openly being a member of the Helper's Club.
  • Meaningful Name: Many readings of the name Akihiko can translate to 'dawn', 'bright' or 'sun'. Fitting for a fire-wielding hero paired up with the Moon-themed Saya.
  • Oni: His Kaijin form is one of the most famous examples of oni in folklore, Ibaraki-Douji.
  • The Paragon: Whether he intended it or not, this is how multiple characters perceive him, with both Mori and Shoji inspired by Akihiko to do good deeds. Akihiko himself is far less squeaky-clean, albeit still heroic.
  • Playing with Fire: Ibaraki-Douji grants him power over fire.
  • Red Is Heroic: His Kaijin form is red and gold all over, and Akihiko is one of the more traditionally heroic members of the team.
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: The Savvy Guy to Saya's Energetic Girl.
  • Ship Tease: Like you would not believe with Saya.
  • Shout-Out: Akihiko's entire character is based on Takayuki Yagami from Judgment, including his casual attire. His Personal Skills are derived from the lyrics to Judgment's opening and his fighting style is based on Yagami's Crane style.
  • Specs of Awesome: Subverted; while Akihiko is a skilled enough fighter in human form due to having martial arts training, his Kaijin form doesn't even have eyes and thus doesn't wear glasses.
  • Taking the Bullet: Pulls this off with Mori when he tanks a tentacle from an Onibi to spare him, shortly before Scathach arrives.
  • Weak, but Skilled: While less physically endowed than Mildred, he makes up for it with martial arts skills and athleticism.

Mildred Honda

Played By: SeriousConcentrate
Kaijin: Proioxis
Elements: Wind / Thrown

A delinquent student who loves drag races. One-quarter Japanese and a girl at that, Mildred felt she had to be harder than everyone else to fit in, and never felt quite at home at school, only nominally being a student. However, fate would unite her and one Akihiko Kasuga when she intervened in his fight against Eisuke, becoming a close friend of his. Her Kaijin form is Proioxis, the personification of charging into battle and one of the Makhai, with powers over Wind and Thrown spells.

  • Bash Brothers: With Akihiko.
  • Blood Knight: Loves a good fight and seeking it out. This is not always a good thing, however, as she is absolutely terrible at diplomacy and her first instinct is to always escalate a confrontation to violence.
  • Blow You Away: Proioxis' elemental power is over Wind, and Mildred demonstrates a striking aptitude for her Kaijin abilities.
  • Boisterous Bruiser: Loves a good fight and is not shy about it, either.
  • Bully Hunter: Mildred's stated reasons for fighting are to earn respect and stand up for those too weak to stand up for themselves. Proioxis herself confirms those reasons when Mildred first confronts her.
  • But Not Too Foreign: She's one quarter Japanese.
  • Cleavage Window: Mildred's unable to zip her jacket up all the way for obvious reasons.
  • Daddy's Girl: Mildred lives with her father and works at his garage; she's also made it clear she doesn't care much about her mother (though it should be noted her parents are divorced and her mother still lives in America).
  • Fire-Forged Friends: With Akihiko; the first time both met was when Akihiko fought Eisuke and the two proceeded to lay waste to him and his friends in the process.
  • Force and Finesse: Mildred, with her raw strength and preference for brute force, is the Force to Akihiko's skilled and swift Finesse. Best shown during the first battle; while Akihiko relies on acrobatic manoeuvres to land strikes on his enemies, Mildred simply throws the heaviest object she can find at the Onibi.
  • Had to Be Sharp: Her backstory; feeling out of place as a foreigner and a girl, she had to be a better fighter and rowdier person than everyone else.
  • Historical Character's Fictional Relative: Claims a blood relation to Honda Tadakatsu.
  • I Am What I Am: How she overcomes Proioxis; Proioxis is a reflection of who she is, and Mildred is completely comfortable with herself.
  • Improvised Weapon: Mildred's specialty in combat is just picking up the nearest object and beating an enemy over the head with it or throwing it at them. Or, on at least one occasion, picking up another person.
  • Japanese Delinquents: Mildred is specifically a bosozoku, fascinated with bikes and racing.
  • Most Common Superpower: Early on, Mildred takes off her signature jacket to show her muscles to Saya, and it's noted that her tanktop 'doesn't fit too well'.
  • One of the Boys: Mildred is basically an orekko, though she does occasionally make jokes about being female (such as noting Akihiko is the 'only guy in the Helper's Club').
  • Shout-Out: Mildred's Personal Skills are based on the lyrics to Judgement. Her fighting style is based on the Beast style from that game.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Incredibly foul-mouthed among the cast, swearing more than even her fellow delinquents Jin and Shiro.
  • Red Baron: 'The Mad Dog of Mishima', given to her by delinquents that have been on the wrong end of her unusual fighting style and generally used to slander her. She's well aware of the reputation the name carries and will occasionally call herself by it as a warning or a battlecry.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: While Mildred, unlike Shiro or Akihiko, lacks formal training, she knows how to brawl and tends to pick up the heaviest object to hit something with.
  • Wild Hair: Mildred's mane of blond hair is left wild and free, due to her not bothering to put it back in a ponytail and thus letting the wind mess it up when she rides her motorcycle.
  • Wrench Wench: Extremely skilled with mechanics and fixing cars.

Mori Sawatari

Played By: Smoke and Mirrors
Kaijin: Fantomas
Elements: Nature / Psi

President of the Theatre Club. A manipulative liar, Mori hides behind a facade a young man with a hatred of the current system and a desire to overthrow it from the inside, in particular coming after the Mishimas, blaming them for the end of the tradtional bunraku plays performed by his family's troupe. His Kaijin form is Fantômas, the brutal and murderous Phantom Thief, specialising in Nature and Psi spells.

  • As Long as It Sounds Foreign: His name. Mori and Sawatari are both Japanese family names, putting him in the odd position of having two family names for his name.
  • But Not Too Foreign: Quarter-American.
  • Chuunibyou: Shows traits of this and Akihiko outright calls him one.
  • Consummate Liar: As part of his plan to overturn society and due to his skill at acting.
  • Cool Mask: Wears one as Fantomas.
  • Cowardly Lion: Is admittedly very much a coward and not much for confrontation, but does not hesitate to fight once he attains his Kaijin form.
  • Foil: Is this to Akihiko: Akihiko is an unpopular student who sticks to his guns, Mori is willing to lie and cheat to maintain his popularity. This even extends to their Kaijin forms; Ibaraki-Douji is a folkloric demon well-known for rampaging through Japan and raising hell, while Fantomas is a French literary character from the 1900s known for being a Phantom Thief.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: He truly believes he is a monster and an Akuma waiting to happen. He also believes himself incapable of true heroism.
  • Information Broker: Is Hermelin's counterpart to Mamiya Kaname.
  • Irrational Hatred: He possesses this for the entire Mishima family, blaming them for his father going out of business. His entire personality is moulded around trying to bring down the Mishimas.
  • Irony: Despite being furious at the Mishimas for seemingly ruining Kaname-cho's culture and lambasting them as interfering in the native culture of Kaname-cho, almost all of his interests are Western, most of his pop-cultural references are American and he himself is half-American and visibly so, compared to the purely Japanese Kanade, who he hates. He also ends up suggesting purely classic American plays when talking to Kanade, while Kanade suggests Japanese folktales for the inter-school play.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Visibly smug, condescending and generally a pain to be around, but far kinder and braver than he gives himself credit for.
  • Jerkass to One: While he is able to maintain his composure in front of others, he is visibly displeased by Kanade, due to his belief that the Mishimas ruined his family.
  • Master Actor: Mori tries to be this and generally succeeds. It's only when his composure fails (Kanade, fighting the Onibi) or the other person sees right through him (Akihiko) that his skills fail him.
  • Manipulative Bastard: What Mori aspires to be. It's not entirely malevolent, however; Mori is heavily implied to have been responsible for restoring Akihiko's reputation and it's implied he steals work from the Helper's Club to fulfil requests. His Kaijin form Fantomas is born partially out of this.
  • No Hero to His Valet: To everyone else, he is a devastating Manipulative Bastard. To Veep, he's a chuunibyou with an overinflated sense of self-importance.
  • Revenge: His motivation; he seeks to bring down the Mishimas and the wealthy in general for screwing over his family (or so he feels).
  • Smug Snake: Puts up the facade of being one to get one back on the people he believes are responsible for his family's downfall.
  • Unknown Rival: One to Kanade Mishima.
  • Tsundere: Type A; a visibly harsh and smug boy with a hidden heart of gold he tries to deny. Akihiko has absolutely none of it, however, and calls him out on it.

Saya Akitsuki

Played By: GMPC

President of the Helper's Club and Akihiko's closest companion. A childhood friend of Akihiko's, Saya has stuck by him for years through it all, encouraging his heroic tendencies. Her own tendencies are vented through the Helper's Club, which purports to help anyone and anybody who makes a request.

  • Childhood Friends: Akihiko's closest friend since childhood.
  • Fighting from the Inside: She does this with her Akuma, which Scathach suggests is highly unusual.
  • Genki Girl: Incredibly energetic and devoted to helping others.
  • Light 'em Up: Lunarian possesses power of light and uses it to attack the protagonists.
  • Lunacy: Her Akuma form, Lunarian, uses the power of moonlight and the Onibi that make up Saya's Domain are effectively floating miniature moons with tentacles.
  • Meaningful Name: Some variations of the characters that make up Akitsuki translate to 'fallen moon' (Fuuka uses this reading as a plot point). Saya's Akuma form is Lunarian, an inhabitant of the Moon, and she uses moon-themed attacks. The chapter focusing on Saya is also called Bright Moonfall.
  • My Greatest Failure: Akihiko's fall from grace due to fighting Eisuke. Saya's feelings over not having been able to protect him that day turns her into an Akuma.
  • Nice Girl: Saya's defining trait. She is unfailingly kind to everyone. Even her Akuma transformation is precipitated by this; her believing that she failed Akihiko in not being able to protect him causes her Inner Demon to awaken and turn her into an Akuma.
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: The Energetic Girl to Akihiko's Savvy Guy.
  • Ship Tease: Like you would not believe with Akihiko.
  • We Help the Helpless: Her philosophy, and thus the philosophy of the Helper's Club. This is part of why she gets along with Akihiko so well.

Shiro Akari

Played By: Chevaleresse
Kaijin: Pyrrha
Elements: Slash / Light

The oldest daughter to the long-established and ancient Akari clan, Shiro leads a double life as prim and proper daughter of the Akaris and leader of the Takashi Street Myrmidons. Her inner conflict over what her family intends for her against what she is truly better at causes her no end of grief. Her Kaijin form is Pyrrha, alternate identity of Achilles and specialises in Light and Slash attacks.

  • Animal Motifs: Ants. Her Kaijin form, Pyrrha, bears ant-like antennae and her gang is themed after the Myrmidons, led by Achilles and who are called 'ant-people'.
  • Blood Knight: Like Mildred, she loves a good fight and deliberately seeks it.
  • Critical Hit Class: Due to her Talent Deep Dive, she has a far higher critical rate than every other character, at the cost of her criticals doing less damage.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: Her main armament as Pyrrha.
  • Impoverished Patrician: The Akaris are implied to have significantly dwindled in both riches and power compared to the Mishima and Demura families.
  • Japanese Delinquents: A yankii, specifically.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: A standoffish, aggressive delinquent. She is also one of the protagonists who helps fight Akuma.
  • Light 'em Up: Her elemental ability.
  • Meaningful Name: Pyrrha was the name used by Achilles while he was disguised as a woman in the court at Skyros. Shiro has more than a few issues relating to her role as the daughter of the Akari family, including chafing under the expectations of her to be a Yamato Nadeshiko instead of the rough delinquent she truly is inside.
  • Mighty Glacier: Incredibly slow, but her single hits do much more damage.
  • Rebellious Princess: Shiro chafes under her family's designs, and part of her doing so is being the leader of a gang of delinquents, the Takashi Street Myrmidons.
  • She Cleans Up Nicely: She can pull off a nice dress and act the part of a Yamato Nadeshiko. She just doesn't want to.
  • Yamato Nadeshiko: What the Akaris are attempting to turn Shiro into. Shiro has....other ideas.

Yui Aiuchi

Played By: SirAston
Kaijin: Marc'heg Gwer
Elements: Nature / Strike

A shy student from the countryside who moved to Kaname for high school. Bullied in the past, the bullying reached a climax when the football team led by Eisuke tried to hit her with a very embarassing prank, only for Akihiko to stop it at the cost of his own reputation. Ever since, Yui has grown more confident, no longer fearing bullying but still having a ways to go to build some confidence. Her Kaijin form is Marc'heg Gwer, the Green Knight, specialising in Nature and Strike attacks.

  • Country Mouse: Which almost results in her being ostracized if not for Akihiko doing something about it.
  • Daddy's Girl: Loves her father deeply, which is what made her so sad when she had to move to the Mishima District for high school.
  • Extreme Doormat: Can be like this while untransformed. Her Kaijin form brings out significant willpower.
  • Green Thumb: Her Nature spells.
  • Hero-Worshipper: Of the White Knight of Mishima ever since he rescued her from a Domain. She's pleasantly surprised to see him rescue them. She has a similar reaction when she finds out Akihiko was her unknown benefactor.
  • Irony: Yui idolises the White Knight of Mishima. Her Kaijin form is the Green Knight of Arthurian Legend. The White Knight's Kaijin form is Gawain, whose most famous legend involves the Green Knight as an antagonist.
  • Silk Hiding Steel: The crux of her character; despite seeming soft and easily bent, when pushed, Yui is capable of great strength. She doesn't quite qualify as a Yamato Nadeshiko, however.
  • Tin Tyrant: Has this aesthetic as Marc'heg Gwer, but otherwise averts the trope, being one of the heroes.

Misa Miyashita

Played By: Happerry
Kaijin: Pixie
Elements: Wind / Thunder

An heiress to a reasonably large clan and the daughter of a marriage not approved by her family, Misa retreated into books due to the weight of her family's disapproval of her, with her hobby resulting in her having little to no friends. Her Kaijin form is Pixie, a fairy from Celtic folklore, specialising in Wind and Thunder spells.

  • Blow You Away: Wind spells are part of her specialty.
  • Escapism: She engages in fairy tales to escape the weight of her family.
  • I Just Want to Be Loved: Her motivation; she wants to have friends and people who approve of her as a person.
  • Maligned Mixed Marriage: Her parentage, which led to her family mostly disapproving of her.
  • Shock and Awe: Thunder spells are her other specialty.
  • Shrinking Violet: Became this as a result of the constant disapproval of her parent's marriage.

Masaru Demura

Played By: Unlurking Sentinel
Kaijin: Vasusena
Elements: Fire / Shot

The son of the moderately respected Demura family, he is motivated by a desire to make the Demuras important again, causing him to focus entirely on his studies at the cost of anything else, including social skills. He is also the treasurer to the Student Council. His Kaijin form is Vasusena, one of the alternate names for Karna, specialising in Fire and Shot spells.

  • Academic Alpha Bitch: A male example; he has a reputation for being unbearable due to his achievements.
  • Berserk Button: Questioning his achievements.
  • Family Honor: Masaru's motivation; he wants to bring the Demuras back to prominence.
  • Hidden Depths: Despite his arrogant, smug-seeming personality, when his Inner Demon confronts him and offers him all the power and popularity he desires, he refuses it.
  • Insufferable Genius: A very studious man, but about the only people who can stand him are the Student Council.
  • No Social Skills: His focus on his academics comes at a cost to his social skills, not helped by his perception that achievement will bring popularity. Rise tries to set him straight, while Mori takes advantage to gleefully troll him.
  • Playing with Fire: His elemental specialty.

Aika Suzuki

Played By: Lucus Casius
Kaijin: Otohime
Elements: Water / Expel

One of the three members of Coral☆Light, a moderately popular idol group. Inspired by the example of Fuuka Yagami and her idol group Afternoon, Aika decided to become an idol herself, rising beyond her initially tragic past. Her Kaijin form is Otohime, princess of Ryugu-jo, whose specialties are Water and Expel spells.

Shoji Shizuko

Played By: GodOfGamingRWBY
Kaijin: Leviathan
Elements: Thunder / Shot

A member of the school newspaper. Her Kaijin form is Leviathan, demon of envy, who specialises in Thunder and Shot spells.

  • As Long as It Sounds Foreign: A similar case to Mori; Shizuko is a given name in Japanese, rather than a family name.
  • Driven by Envy: Her motivation to overcome Leviathan; jealous of the strength others have, she wants some of it for herself.
  • Put on a Bus: Her player dropped out and so Shoji quietly faded from the group between chapters.
  • Shock and Awe: Specialised in thunder spells.

     Other Kaijin

Gawain / Tsukasa Kazami

Elements: Fire / Expel / Thunder

The White Knight of Mishima, a very powerful Kaijin operating in Mishima. Named for the famed knight of Arthurian Legend. For information about Tsukasa Kazami, read his section further down.

  • Big Damn Heroes: He and Scathach perform this to save the heroes during the first chapter.
  • Combat Medic: He packs healing spells, including the very powerful Kiajara. It's heavily implied that Tsukasa, as Gawain, learned the spell to try to wake up the comatose Yui.
  • Enemy Scan: Possesses this ability in a limited sense.
  • Flower Motifs: Cherry blossom petals; the embers his flames leave behind resemble these closely, as do the remains of enemies he beats.

  • Dark Is Evil: A violet and black Kaijin that turns people into Akuma.

  • Reasonable Authority Figure: A well-liked student council president whose words are respected by everyone and who is heavily implied to be keeping the Helper's Club afloat. She also tries to provide advice to others, and was responsible for trying to have Eisuke penalised after the fight with Akihiko.
  • Student Council President: Obviously.

Touma Nanjou

Vice President of the Student Council.

  • Hidden Depths: A massive fan of Coral☆Light, if a few Free Time entries are anything to go by. He's also deeply intimidated by Shiro.
  • The Nondescript: Unlike Rise, Riku or Masaru, Touma is explicitly shown to be utterly boring and average.
  • Opaque Nerd Glasses: Unlike Ms. Kurenai, Akihiko and Rise, his glasses are meant to be nerdy and geeky.

Riku Tadano

Secretary of the Student Council, Tadano is reputed to be kind and reliable, with enough smarts to make the council, as well as a member of the Helper's Club. In Chapter 2, he becomes the Kaijin Momotaro.

  • Affectionate Nickname: Ri-kun, courtesy of Rise.
  • Childhood Friends: With Rise and Otoya.
  • Innocent Blue Eyes: Bright, blue eyes to show off his kindness, youthfulness and niceness.

  • The Reliable One: Has a reputation as the reliable helper in school, and is a member of the Helper's Club.
  • Youthful Freckles: Has these to show off his youth. He is, however, the same age as most of the cast.

Kanade Mishima

The heiress to the Mishima family, a famed actress and popular in both schools. One of the Big Three of Amamiya.

  • Arch-Enemy: One-sided, but she is Mori's archnemesis, as a popular actress, president of the Amamiya theatre club, and heiress to the Mishima family Mori holds responsible for his family's downfall.
  • Expy: Word of God has confirmed she was intended to be based on Mai Sakurajima, another black-haired, beloved actress and popular student. If she is Scathach, her Kaijin form would also make her an expy of Kuroyukihime.
  • Famed In-Story: An actress known nationwide with a successful award-winning drama, Tomorrow With You.
  • Has a Type: Explicitly mentions that Akihiko is hers.
  • Ojou: An elegant, refined heiress to the Mishima family. She doesn't quite fit all the stereotypes, however; she's not particularly surrounded by servants and a lot of her social standing comes from her own popularity as a famous actress as it does from her role as heiress to the Mishima family.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: Has this kind of relationship with Tsukasa.
  • School Idol: The most popular student in Amamiya, and very well liked in Hermelin. She's also close friends with another School Idol, Tsukasa Kazami.
  • Unknown Rival: Mori is this to her; he hates the Mishimas and her specifically, while she barely pays him any attention.

Tsukasa Kazami

A student from Amamiya known for his good looks and reserved attitude. One of the Big Three of Amamiya. For tropes applying to Gawain, check his section above.

  • Berserk Button: Anything to do with Yui's current state and Andras, who is heavily implied to have caused it.
  • Deadpan Snarker: A very dry-witted young man.
  • Expy: To the unnamed male protagonist of I Want to Eat Your Pancreas, a reserved, quiet and antisocial youth who met with a terminally ill Genki Girl with pancreatic disease.
  • Not So Stoic: Though he comes off as unemotional and reserved, Mori attempting to interrogate him and find out if he is Gawain brings out the emotional turmoil he suffers from due to being separated from the comatose Yui Majima.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: Has this kind of relationship with Kanade.
  • School Idol: One of the Big Three of Amamiya, the school's most popular students, the others being Kanade and Kazuya.
  • Tall, Dark, and Handsome: A quiet, tall and handsome young man.
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: It's mentioned in backstory materials that Tsukasa used to be incredibly withdrawn, then became cheerful due to the influence of an unnamed student, then became withdrawn again. It's later confirmed that he became this due to the influence of Yui Majima (and Kanade to an extent).

Kazuya Sugiura

A student from Amamiya and one of the Big Three, known for his easygoing, gregarious nature. Revealed as a Kaijin whose Kaijin form is Abe no Seimei.

  • School Idol: One of the Big Three of Amamiya, the school's most popular students, the others being Kanade and Tsukasa.
  • Slimeball: Unlike the aloof Tsukasa or the friendly Kanade, he gives off this vibe.

Jin Akutagawa

A student from Amamiya well-known for his delinquency and being the local banchou. He is also the Kaijin Aegaeon.

  • Bully Hunter: Like Akihiko, he has a reputation for hunting down bullies, to the point that he was suspected to be the White Knight of Mishima.
  • Friend to All Children: His introduction involves him engaging children in beetle fights and it's mentioned he watches over them to keep low-lifes from bothering them.
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: His Kaijin form has four arms.
  • Japanese Delinquents: Known as the banchou of Amamiya. He and Mildred are known friends and he's mentioned to have run into Shiro before.
  • Vigilante Man: It's heavily implied he's a younger version of this, hunting down and beating up muggers.

Otoya Miyazono

A famed youth musician specialising in the cello and a student from Hermelin.

Kanna Sakurajima

A famed youth musician specialising in the piano and a student from Hermelin.

  • Birds of a Feather: With fellow ill girl Yui, whose optimism rubbed off on Kanna.
  • Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl: Forms this pair with Otoya.
  • Expy: The Kaori to Otoya's Kousei, right down to her sickly status. Unlike Kaori, she specialises in the piano and gained her optimism as a result of a friendship with a different girl. Kanna was also mentioned to have loved caneles in the past.
  • Famed In-Story: Slightly less so than Otoya, but she is also well-known for her skills with the piano.
  • Shipper on Deck: Finds the idea of Mori and Kanade together cute. Mori disagrees.
  • Sweet Tooth: Loves sweet pastries; moon cakes are her current obsession, though she used to be obsesssed with caneles.
  • Your Days Are Numbered: Kanna confirms that she doesn't have long left.

Eisuke Sasanuma

The captain of the football team. He was also formerly one of Yui's bullies, until an encounter with Akihiko ended with Eisuke's scheme ruined and Akihiko sending him to the hospital.

  • The Atoner: He starts to seek atonement from Yui through a letter he sends to her during the first chapter. Mamiya's file on him also implies that he's distanced himself from the other bullies on the football team.
  • Jerk Jock: His bullying of Yui caused Akihiko to intervene, leading to both Eisuke and Akihiko losing favour with the school community.
  • Karma Houdini: He wasn't punished for his bullying of Yui, outside of Akihiko and Mildred beating him flat, despite Rise's best attempts. However, Mori was....less forgiving.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: He features only briefly in the backstories of Yui and Akihiko. However, his actions directly impact multiple characters; Mori is heavily implied to have manipulated public opinion back into Akihiko's favour out of disgust for Eisuke and admiration for Akihiko, Saya becomes an Akuma due to her guilt over not having protected Akihiko, and Akihiko and Yui's transformations into Kaijin are catalysed by the aftermath of the entire affair.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: A white haired man who is also a Jerk Jock. However, he is beginning to subvert the trope, considering his desire to atone for his actions.

Rio Kurenai

A teacher at Hermelin and the club advisor for the Helper's Club. Rumours suggest that Rio was once a famous street racer, much to Mildred's shock and disbelief, before she became a teacher in Hermelin.

'Veep'

The Vice-President of the Theatre Club.

Fuuka Yagami

A nationally beloved idol and face of the idol group Afternoon. She retired three years ago, but rumours of her still follow in her wake.

  • Famed In-Story: A famous idol singer from a famous group.
  • The Ghost: Currently unseen. However, three students are thought to be Yagami under a different identity; the student council president Rise, the tennis club manager Ayaka and the computer club president Tomoe.
  • Idol Singer: A retired one. She inspired Aika to take up singing herself.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Has long since retired as an idol. Her work inspired Aika's rise as an Idol Singer.

Kaede and Naoki

Aika's two fellow singers in Coral☆Light, and her closest friends.

Mamiya Kaname

A student from Amamiya who collects information and rumours about students from both schools, described as a 'queen bee' of sorts.

  • The Ghost: Though her documents provide information on the students In-Universe, and some characters such as Shoji and Kanade are acquainted with Mamiya, she herself has not appeared yet.
  • Knowledge Broker: Is known as a 'queen bee' who collects information about students. The files on students are written by her In-Universe, including her own entry.
  • You Owe Me: Mamiya's information is traded for in the form of favours for Mamiya.

Yui Majima

The former tennis club manager and rumoured to have been Tsukasa's girlfriend. She was rendered comatose during an Akuma attack a year prior, known for being Gawain's first appearance.

  • Birds of a Feather: Friends with fellow ill girl Kanna, who admires her and picked up her optimism.
  • Expy: The Sakura to Tsukasa's unnamed protagonist, even rumoured to be suffering from a pancreatic disease. However, unlike Sakura, she survives both her disease and a subsequent Akuma attack, albeit at the cost of being stuck in a coma.
  • Genki Girl: From what is known of her personality, Yui was very much this.
  • Inexplicably Identical Individuals: Yui and Chiyo are identical except for Chiyo having golden eyes and Yui having brown eyes. Yui also is seen wearing a blue hoodie in the pictures of her that exist, while Chiyo wears a black one.
  • The Lost Lenore: Albeit not one who's dead; she was rendered comatose due to an Akuma attack before the events of the story. It's heavily implied through this that she is the Lost Lenore Gawain fights for, therefore implying Tsukasa is Gawain.
  • One-Steve Limit: She averts this by sharing Yui Aiuchi's first name. Given that the game runs on Last-Name Basis, however, generally averted as she is only referred to as "Majima-senpai" and Yui Aiuchi is referred to as "Aiuchi-san" most of the time.
