    In General
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/group_shot_0.jpg
From left to right: Orym, Opal, Dariax, Dorian, Mister, and Fearne. Not shown: Fy'ra.

  • Character Alignment: In-Universe, it's been stated that Dorian is Chaotic Good, Orym is Neutral Goodnote , and Dariax, Fearne, and Opal are Chaotic Neutral.
    • In Episode 5, after Dorian genuinely agrees to give Poska to the Spider Queen as a champion in exchange for leaving his friends alone, even knowing what she'd do to the people of Emon with that power, his alignment changes to Chaotic Neutral.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Each of them gets a little introductory scene at the beginning of the first episode.
    • Orym's introduction finds him up and in the city, having woken up a half-hour before the others. He walks around the town, passing by Greyskull Keep, as he takes in the city with fresh eyes. The city of Emon reminds him of home, but he shrugs it off, deciding to walk by a magic shop when it opens.
    • Dorian's introduction sees him with his lute by his side, enjoying the view of Emon as the sun rises. He then goes on to hum a little tune, feeling himself lost in song as he thinks back to his past.
    • Fearne's introduction sees her walking through the city, ready to the see the sunrise. Her fire spirit-turned-monkey companion, Mister, eats a woman's flowers, so Fearne quickly decides to repair the damage by using her magic. While her magic is admittedly "not gentle", she restores the night jasmine and goes on with her day.
    • Dariax's introduction sees him on the roof, sleeping away his hangover. After waking up, he tries to give a pigeon some alcohol, which marvelously fails. He then picks up his spear and complains that somebody peed on it before going on to shower.
    • Opal's introduction sees her waking up in a panic, rushing to get her makeup on. While tired and severely hungover, she's happy to be in the city, looking towards the sunset with pride. There's an unknown presence in the room, with Opal thinking back to her twin sister Ted in that moment, before Dariax calls out to her. She quickly tries to cover her tracks before conversing with the dwarf, shamelessly admitting that she peed on his spear.
  • Fish out of Water: All of the members are new to the city of Emon and they are continually way out of their element when interacting with the various events that occur in the city.
  • Gender-Equal Ensemble: They start out with Fearne and Opal as the Two Girls to a Team, but then Fy'ra joins them halfway, evening out the gender ratio.
  • Idiot Hero: Over a span of 24 hours they manage to get involved with a criminal organization, tamper with a crime scene, steal a powerful relic that paints a huge target on their backs, piss off said criminal organization by ransacking their storehouse, and get their wealthy benefactor's town house burned to the ground. The group's highest Intelligence score is a resounding 13 (which is still above average, but not by much) and it greatly shows within their conversations, especially with Dariax and Opal. It is also worth noting that this Intelligence score is shared by two characters: Orym and Mister. When Fy'ra joins them, she becomes the smartest member with an Intelligence score of 14.
  • Missing Time: Besides the pissing contest from the day before, none of them remember the week they got to the townhouse.
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: They're probably the most ragtag group in Exandria since the Darrington Brigade: consisting of a reluctant former Air Ashari, a air genasi who's hiding much more underneath his jovial exterior, a faun with fire magic who just crossed over from the Feywild to Emon, her fire spirit in the shape of a monkey who hates the sorcerer, a ditzy sorcerer who managed to get caught up with a thieves' guild, and a major Fish out of Water who's warlock patron is her twin sister of all things. They then get joined by a mysterious monk who doesn't know why she's there to protect them, but she does anyway. They're also all Idiot Heroes to an extent, with Dariax and Opal taking the crown for ditziness.
  • Supernatural Team: Four of the six members of the team are spellcasters and the remaining two, Orym and Fy'ra, both have a small amount of magic as a lotusden halfing and fire genasi respectively.
  • Touched by Vorlons: They find an ancient artifact in Episode 7 and decode it, leading to it breaking and giving them new abilities. Dariax gets the ability to attack twice or double his damage, Dorian gets limited Gravity Master powers, Fearne gets the ability to require a reroll on any creature within 30 feet, Opal gets a small pool of healing power to use for herself or others, and Orym gets a new battle maneuver.

Tropes involving some, but not all members of the party
  • Charm Person: Opal, Dorian, and Fearne all chose this spell.
  • Given Name Reveal: In a drinking game in Episode 6, Dorian reveals that his name is a Stage Name and his actual name is Bronte. Opal reveals that her mom actually named her Georgina, but she made her father change it to Opal.
  • Healing Hands: Dariax, Fearne, and Dorian all have access to Cure Wounds, which comes in handy considering how accident-prone the party is.
  • Kung-Fu Wizard: Dariax, Dorian, and Opal all supplement their spellcasting with some level of martial prowess.
  • Only One Name:
    • Aimee says that she couldn't think up a good last name for Opal, so she didn't give her one.
    • Orym does not yet have a confirmed last name, and likely does not have one at all, as the Air Ashari do not carry surnames. He later reveals that he does have a last name due to his father, but since his father moved on he doesn't use it.
  • Parental Abandonment: Orym's father and Opal's mother walked out on them. Fearne mentions that her parents left about "50 years ago".

    Dariax

Dariax Zaveon

Played by Matthew Mercer

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dariax_32.jpg
"If you don't start fucking people over, you're not gonna survive, buddy."
Race: Mountain Dwarf
Class: Sorcerer (Divine Soul)/Bard

A ditzy dwarven sorcerer from the country, Dariax is a confident figure trying to make a name for himself. He may not be the sharpest axe on the wall, but his ingenuity and shamelessness lend itself to the group more times than not.

  • Ambiguously Bi: He's the closest to Dorian Storm out of the whole team, and his chemistry with Opal is more along the lines of squad mates than anything romantic. There's also his propensity for female disguises, as detailed below. At the same time, he later reveals that Tharla Starr wasn't his ex-girlfriend, but only a burlesque performer that he was too shy to approach and say hi without freezing up. Although EXU:Kymal reveals he did actually have a different ex-girlfriend in Deni$e from narrative telephone
  • Berserk Button: He doesn't like people lying to him, implied to be due to past experience.
  • Black Eyes of Evil: His eyes turn jet-black when he touches the crown of the circletnote  for the later part of the second episode. Due to the utter chaos caused by the mesa that appeared in the middle of the Flamereach Outpost, no one pays attention to it. Gilmore luckily cures him of it in Episode 3.
  • Born Unlucky: Matt's reputation for poor dice rolls as a player shows up almost immediately, rolling a Natural 2 and a Natural 1 within a few minutes of his introduction. He does manage to get a few high rolls here and there, so it's not all bad.
    • Mostly inverted in EXU: Kymal, where Matt rolled high numbers with an unusual (for him) frequency, including getting the majority of the HDYWDTsNote during the Part One encounter and also winning sixty platinum at the casinos.
Robbie: He's got the luck of the idiots!
  • Combat Medic: Being a Divine Soul sorcerer grants him healing spells such as Cure Wounds, and his 14 Strength and dwarven armor proficiency means he can hold his own in a fight.
  • Deadpan Snarker: When something with Mister is involved. Especially when the others have to fight an alternate version of him and Fearne with real Mister taking damage to protect the group.
    Fearne: Dariax!
    Dariax: Help. Police. Murder.
  • Dick Dastardly Stops to Cheat: At the Byroden pageant, he tries to sabotage Lisle's horse riding performance with a bit of magic, but she's able to roll with it and just ends up looking awesome by the end of her act.
  • The Ditz: He's not the brightest of the bunch and it clearly shows.
Dariax: "Oh, I only got about half of that... I was thinking about saying something cool, and then I forgot."
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Mentions having an older brother Taros who would figuratively and literally put out the fires Dariax made when they grew up. Dariax himself even admits he was quite the trouble maker.
  • Fiery Redhead: Subverted. He has auburn hair, but he's a relatively calm person.
  • Heroic Willpower: In Episode 5, he successfully resists the Spider Queen's attempt to convince him to claim the circlet's power.
  • Hidden Depths:
    • He backs up his magical disguises with a natural talent for impressions, even passing direct scrutiny from the Nameless Ones in Episode 3.
    • By Episode 4 he's also proven to be quite The Charmer (though it's not that hidden when his charisma is the second highest after Opal).
Dorian: You literally still have shit in your beard.
Dariax: And yet I still got the discount.
    • In Episode 6 he's somehow able to make contact with the Observer, the deity of Niirdal-Poc despite never even knowing they existed before. Later she outright tells him that he already has The Gift, just like Fy'ra Rai... but not exactly.
  • Light 'em Up: He knows the Light cantrip, using it several times in the first episode to light up dark areas for the rest of the party, none of whom have darkvision.
  • Magic Knight: As a mountain dwarf he has proficiency with medium armor and some martial weapons including battle axes and warhammers, allowing him to be fairly effective as a melee fighter on top of his spellcasting.
  • Money Dumb:
    • Given his low intelligence, it's safe to say that Dariax shouldn't handle money on his own. When shopping for items, the lady at the desk initially asks for 752 gold and then discounts it for 602 gold. Dariax gives her 900 gold. Then as she tries to give him the correct price, Dariax thinks she's bargaining and agrees on 600 gold. Reminder, this is after the lady already gave him a discount.
Lady: (genuinely concerned) What is happening? Do you require an adult??
    • In Kymal when going to the betting tables, he asks how much it is to enter. The dealer tells him it's 25 gold and Dariax puts down 20 platinum. Then when asked if he wants to double down, he has a total of 40 platinum, noting, "I have forty platinum, perfect!" After Morrighan serves him his "bread" she asks for one gold and he happily slaps down a platinum.
  • Mundane Utility: In the first episode, he uses his spear to open a chest from a distance because the team fears that it's trapped.
  • Our Dwarves Are Different: His beard is of the well-kept chinstrap variety, and he's more of a magic than a melee type especially after the Observer activates the Gift in him. Matt also gives him the same "bro" voice as the Exalting Sword from the Red Nose Day one-shot. He's also a Clueless Chick-Magnet that somehow reaches across races and even orientations, if Gilmore is any indication.
  • Pet the Dog: In the battle with the evil variant Fearne and Mister, he finally relents and casts healing on the real Mister.
  • Playing with Fire: Kymal has him use the Fireball spell to great use, turning the tide of the battle for the party.
  • Power Gives You Wings: He gets the ability to grow wings (normally a 14th level ability) in episode 7. It's not revealed where it came from, but is implied to be a result of being near the Cube.
  • Sacred Flames: He can cast this spell as a Divine Soul sorcerer.
  • Semi-Divine: Part and parcel with the Divine Soul subclass. Because of this, Orym believes that he's a type of cleric, as he has access to many cleric-adjacent spells.
  • Shameless Fanservice Guy: Upon seeing the beautiful waterfall outside of Niirdal-Poc, his first reaction is to jump into it naked. And he's had way too much practice in getting naked. And it doesn't matter who's around either.
"I worked hard to get that apple poppin'!"
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: He does not get along with Fearne's wildfire spirit Mister.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Matt deliberately plays up this part of his character to the hilt - it says a lot that there's just one isolated unintentional example, when handling the Vestige of the Spider Queen barehanded gives him Black Eyes of Evil.
  • Wholesome Crossdresser:
    • In a way. When sneaking back into a city with Nameless Ones watching out for them, Dariax uses magic to disguise himself as a half-elven woman.
    • Episode 6 has him use the Hat of Disguises to transform himself into Opal, heels and all.
    • Eventually this extends into Kymal, when he uses magic to dress himself in things like Opal's bathrobe and Mor's showgirl feathers.

    Dorian

Dorian Storm / Brontë Secondson Wyvernwind

Played by Robbie Daymond

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dorian_8.jpg
"I was feeling proud, and now my feelings are hurt, goliath lady."
Click here to see Dorian during Campaign 3.
Race: Air Genasi
Class: Bard (College of Swords)

A jovial air genasi with a guarded past, Dorian is merely trying to look for adventure after years of being sheltered. While he tries to be the moral center in the party, he ends up getting dragged along in their various antics.

  • Amazing Technicolor Population: Being an air genasi, he has blue skin.
  • Color Motif: Blue. Robbie lampshades this during his description as his lute, eyes, skin, clothes, and some of his hair are all various shades of blue. Fitting since blue is a calming color and Dorian tries to be the voice of reason.
  • Compelling Voice: A useful ability for any bard of course, especially when he talks Mister into backing away from the sigil and its corrupting influence.
  • The Corruptible: He offers to give the Crown to Poska in exchange for Lolth leaving his friends alone. He knows what she will do with it, so his alignment changes from Chaotic Good to Chaotic Neutral.
  • Embarrassing Middle Name: His middle name is literally Secondson.
  • The Face: He's the group's primary communication expert, easily handling conversations with many of the various citizens of Emon — so long as no one is flirting with him. Humorously, both Opal and Dariax have higher charisma scores, which would make them more effective at this if anyone took them seriously.
  • Instrument of Murder: His flute is also the handle of his handaxe, and his lute contains a scimitar.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: He has fairly long hair that goes past his shoulders and is very easy on the eyes.
  • Meaningful Name: Appropriately for a bard, his name references the musical scale of the same name.
  • Mysterious Past: His past is the most ambiguous of the lot, mostly due to his reluctance in revealing the details. So far, it's been revealed that his people were wiped out in the past, he may be Secretly Wealthy, and - according to Robbie - he was a secluded person in his youth. Everything would be revealed in campaign 3.
  • Nervous Wreck: When he flops a performance or his confidence is brought down a peg, he immediately panics and tries to leave the situation immediately.
  • Nice Guy: A warm and friendly, if a tad awkward, guy.
  • Not Quite Flight: His winged boots allow him to walk on air, as displayed during the Byroden pageant. Justified as they are an ancestral magic item.
  • Not So Above It All: He tries to be the Only Sane Man, but he ends up getting pulled into the group's antics more often than not.
  • Pretty Boy: He's already handsome looking, but during the pageant at Byroden, he's even more during the evening wear. Pretty much the entire audience yells about how hot he looks and even his teammates make note of it, to his embarrassment.
  • The Power of Friendship: According to the wrap-up, deconstructed. Dorian never had friends growing up, and now that he does, he'll do anything to keep them, no matter how much harm it brings to others. This leads to his corruption by the Spider Queen.
  • Secretly Wealthy: Poska certainly seems to think so, and based on his reaction, she's probably right. Ultimately confirmed in campaign 3.
  • The Snark Knight: He can and very much will snark at anything he finds utterly incredulous, befitting of his cynical view of the world.
  • Sure, Let's Go with That: Mostly around Dariax. When Dariax thinks based off of Dorian's looks, his clothes and his flare, that he must be circus folk and Dorian gives a long pause before he just says Dariax is right.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: After making the deal with Lolth, and his alignment changing with that, Dorian is much colder to his companions. Campaign 3 and Kymal sees him more or less return back to his previous jovial personality.

    Fearne (and Mister)

Fearne Calloway

See their entry here.

    Fy'ra

Fy'ra Rai

Played by Anjali Bhimani

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fyra.jpeg
"She will decide. You shall go."
Race: Fire Genasi
Class: Monk (Way of the Four Elements)

Strong and levelheaded, Fy'ra joins the party as a protector, unsure of why she was drawn to them. Her purpose is unclear, but she still deeply cares for them as they continue on with their journey into the unknown.

  • The Ace: Has the highest stat rolls of all the party, and is two levels above the rest in the first season. This is partly explained by the fact that she is the only one of the party who didn't receive a pre-game memory reset, so she was able to advance her skills.
  • Affirmative Action Girl: She joins up with the party halfway through the story as a "protector", helping out as the other martial warrior.
  • Berserk Button: Any mention of anybody harming her sister will instantly set her off.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Jumps in to help the party fight off evil!Fearne.
  • Big Sister Instinct: She calls Dorian "little brother".
  • But Now I Must Go: She leaves the party soon after they fight of My'ratta's forces in Episode 6, going out to find her sister (who was revealed to be alive). As Aabria explains, she eventually makes her way to Fy'ra Kai, but she's always keeping a lookout to see if the others need her.
  • Combat Stilettos: Downplayed. She's an Action Girl and her full-body portrait depicts her with a pair of chunky heeled boots.
  • The Comically Serious: Her no-nonsense attitude contrasts very starkly with this particular group.
  • Flaming Hair: Being a fire genasi, her hair is made of flames.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The responsible one to her sister, who died tragically shortly after coming to Exandria.
  • The Gift: Fy'ra has a strange "Gift" that allows her insight into the situation at hand. The Observer notes that anybody can have this Gift, but only a chosen few are allowed true access to it - Fy'ra being one of them.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: She's only on the team for 3 episodes (4 to 6). While she's around for the entirety of Kymal, it's only 2 episodes in comparison.
  • Not So Above It All: She follows the team to Kymal, where she adjusts to the vice city a little too smoothly.
  • Parental Abandonment: Averted. While most genasi are abandoned by their parents, it seems that Fy'ra and her sister were raised by their parents. Fy'ra offhandedly mentions that she hasn't seen something like the elemental rift "since her parents fought".
  • Playing with Fire: Being a Fire Genasi grants her access to some fire spells, such as Produce Flames.
  • Punctuation Shaker: She spells her name with an apostrophe in the middle.
  • Sixth Ranger: Joins the party in Episode 4 knowing nothing except she's here to help them.
  • Supernatural Martial Arts: As a Way of the Four Elements monk, she's able to deal elemental damage.
  • Team Mom: She watches over the group with a close eye, making sure that they are safe and that they don't cause unnecessary conflict.
  • Telescoping Staff: Can fold her staff into a portable form, she even does so in combat.
  • What the Hell Is That Accent?: Her accent sounds like a mishmash of several others. Anjali Bhimani has said that this was to indicate she isn't from the Material Plane.

    Morrighan

Morrighan Ferus

Played by Erica Lindbeck

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/morrighan.png
Race: Lagomore
Class: Paladin (Oath of Vengeance) note

A crafty bunny-like rogue who's on the lookout for the next big heist to pull. She joins the Crown Keepers much later into their exploits.

  • Catchphrase: Of sorts, as she frequently comments on how big something or someone is, often adding that the person/thing is the biggest she has ever seen. See the below quote for an example:
Morrighan: (to a pair of suspicious guards) Wow. You guys are so big. You're the biggest men I ever seen.
  • Little Bit Beastly: Looks more humanoid than most of the half-animal races in Exandria, resembling a Viera instead of a humanoid rabbit.
  • Nice Girl: She's a mild-mannered personality who's generally very kind towards everyone she meets.
  • Playboy Bunny: Her first appearance depicts her as a casino bartender wearing an impractically showy uniform meant to invoke this imagery.
  • Magic Knight: As an Arcane Trickster rogue, she's able to use magic along with her attacks. In Campaign 3 she becomes a more literal example as her class is retconned into Paladin.
  • New Meat: Relatively speaking compared to the others, and is normally used to mundane capers.
  • Odd Name Out: Hilariously, she is the only member of the Crown Keepers whose name doesn’t start with the same letter as another party member.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted albeit with a slight difference in spelling with Fearne's "nana," Morrigan the Fatestitcher, and Morrighan, the lagomore rogue.
  • Rascally Rabbit: Plays into this archetype by being a bunny girl and a criminally inclined rogue.
  • Statuesque Stunner: Is described as standing at 5'10" and she is a cute bunny girl. That said, whether Morrighan's long bunny ears are included in her height or not is unknown. Going by the official minifigs, they are.

    Opal

Opal

Played by Aimee Carrero

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/opal_1.jpg
"FOOOOD!"
Race: Human
Class: Warlock (Hexblade, Pact of the Tome)

Beauty-obsessed and overtly ditzy, Opal comes from Byroden with bright eyes towards her new life in Emon. She has a lot of growing up to do, and her twin sister/patron Ted is intent on making her understand the consequences of her actions.

  • Action Fashionista: She's a capable fighter and spellcaster, and has quite the fashion sense.
  • Alpha Bitch: The way she acts with her sister has her come across as this, even making fun of the other for crying in frustration as they continue to argue over Opal's death. If the announcer at the pageant is to be believed, Opal even bullied a lot of the people in her town who went to school with her.
Ted: I can cry if I want to! You're dead and still being a bitch!
  • Ax-Crazy: Later episodes have her show signs of this, mostly as a stress mechanism. Episode 6 has her run off with her assailant's head, all the while she's covered in blood due to having stabbed him in sheer rage. Episode 8 isn't much better as she decides to put on the Circlet of Barbed Vision, and uses her newfound power to slit My'ratta's throat down to her spine.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: She might be one of the most ditzy of the group, but she's no joke in a fight, and in the first episode even manages to kill two enemies in a single turn. Aimee revealed in a promo that she got the first HDYWTDT of the pre-stream sessions. This comes to a head in Episode 8 where she puts on the Circlet of Barbed Vision, and uses her newfound power to slit My'ratta's throat all the way down to her spine.
  • Big Sister Instinct: It's not clear who was born first, but when Opal argues with Ted while she's dead and asks when Ted will live her own life because Opal is tired of looking after her. While Opal lashed out in frustration and anger, it's clear she wants Ted to live for herself, even if she's not as aware of her sister being stuck in her shadow.
  • Casual Kink: In the second episode, she disables a charmed adversary by leading him away from the fight and then convincing him to let her tie him up, and comments that all the girls in her hometown learn how to do that kind of thing when Fearne asks about her proficiency with the rope.
  • Can't Get Away with Nuthin': Subverted. At the start of Kymal, Opal offhandedly mentions that she stole a bolero off of this other woman, and Aabria immediately makes her roll to see how it really went. Thanks to hew newfound Vestige of the Spider Queen she really does get away with it.
  • Celeb Crush: She falls hard for Gilmore the instant she meets him, despite the Incompatible Orientation and him being married.
  • The Champion: She gleefully accepts to become Lolth's new Champion in the second episode of Exandria Unlimited: Kymal.
  • Crazy Enough to Work: Some of her most impressive moments come from her coming up with the most insane solutions, which somehow manage to work due to sheer luck. Kymal has probably one of Opal's most insane moments with her casting Major Image to create an illusion of the sky deck collapsing to get the Nameless Ones off their trail. On top of that, she then casts Disguise Self to turn herself into Poska standing over the party's dead bodies, making the Nameless Ones believe that she was somehow dead. Thanks to the party helping her out and the Circlet of Barbed Vision's attack bonus, Opal manages to pull off the timing perfectly, allowing the party to escape scot-free.
  • De-power:
    • In the second episode, an argument with her twin sister Ted (who seems to be her warlock patron, somehow) causes Ted to take away Opal's magic until she apologizes to her, which Opal refuses to do.
    • The end of Episode 6 sees her lose her magic once again as Ted loses herself to exhaustion.
  • The Ditz: Even among a team of Idiot Heroes, she takes this crown thanks to her short attention span, impulsiveness, literal thinking, and unfamiliarity with the larger world outside her hometown.
  • Dual Wielding: Carries two daggers with her in combat.
  • Ethical Slut: Played With and Played for Laughs. Apparently her and Cyrus have had something of a casual sexual relationship during his time travelling with the Crown Keepers, with Opal apparently giving him regular handjobs. However, due to her low performance role, its stated Opal is actually a virgin and is really bad at giving handjobs, due to her lack of experience, which impacts Cyrus' performance when the party needs to perform a I Know Your In There Somewhere Fight against Opal when Lolth possesses her. In any case, her comfortability with casual exchange of sex acts is treated as more just part of her friendly nature than a negative reflection of her in any way.
  • Fatal Flaw: Her pride. Her refusal to apologize to her sister after getting upset at her almost gets her killed.
  • Fish out of Water: She comes from a small town and is very unfamiliar with everything outside of it, including never having seen the ocean before.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Seems to come off as the foolish to her twin sister Ted's responsible. Ted claims that Opal was always at the center of attention while she had given up so much for Opal to be able to use her current power in order to protect her. When the group get to Byroden, Opal is surprised to hear that Ted wasn't in town and had actually left shortly after Opal did.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: Her Intelligence and Wisdom scores are a 12 and 13 respectively, but Aimee tends to play up Opal's ditziness and impulsivity.
  • Genius Ditz: Opal generally acts as The Ditz, but she has an Intelligence score of 12 that she will exploit during the most unthinkable moments. During Exandria Unlimited: Kymal Opal used the commotion created by Cyrus' "fantasy dynamite" to create an illusion of the sky deck collapsing instead of taking off so that the Nameless Ones would not interfere with their escape plan. On top of that, Opal turned herself into Poska standing triumphantly over the bodies of the Crown Keepers as the deck collapsed to make the Nameless Ones temporarily believe that their leader was dead. By succeeding in doing so the Crown Keepers managed to skip entirely the boss encounter Aabria planned for the end of the episode.
  • Genki Girl: She's an energetic, impulsive person who strives to make the most out of her situation.
  • Glass Cannon: She can deal a ton of damage both with her spells and her daggers due to Hexblade's Curse, but she is also very vulnerable since her hit points and armor class are so low.
  • The Glorious War of Sisterly Rivalry: She and her twin sister Ted seem to have this kind of relationship. As Opal is dead the two argue with Ted angrily yelling that she always had to be the responsible one to protect her while Opal had all of the love and attention. This seems to be slowly changing after Opal is brought back to life. When the group goes to Byroden, Opal seems shocked that Ted was not in town and had apparently left three days after she did, but has not been seen since. After she wins the Gem of Byroden Pageant, she places the crown onto Ted's bed before she leaves.
  • Good Angel, Bad Angel: Ted and Lolth seems to have developed this dynamic during the time skip between Exandria Unlimited and Kymal.
  • Green Thumb: She has access to the druid cantrip Druidcraft as a result of taking the Pact of the Tome.
  • The Hero: The other cast members and the DM herself confirmed in the promotional lead-up to the show's premiere that Opal ended up being the "center" of the story that emerged throughout the miniseries.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Her absolute refusal to apologize to Ted to get her powers back is one of the factors that led to her death by evil!Fearne's scorpions. Ted relents in fear of Opal dying again.
  • Life Drain: If an enemy dies while her Hexblade's Curse is on them, she regains some health.
  • Likes Older Men: She ogles Gilmore despite him being in his late 60s. Time has been very kind to him and he's now a Silver Fox.
  • MacGuffin Super-Person: Myr'atta is chasing her relentlessly for what's heavily implied to be access to Ted. In episode 7 she manages to restrain her with the help of residuum and tells her that she will "free her from that little girl" and that together they will change the world, then reveals she was talking to Ted, not Opal.
  • Magic Knight: As a Hexblade warlock, she has access to spells and can fight at close range with her daggers.
  • Mark of the Supernatural: Due to putting on the Circlet of Barbed Vision in Episode 8, Opal has one eye that is iridescent while the other eye is brown.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Not to the darkest degree this trope can go, but after coming back to life after Ted yelled about how she gave up everything to protect Opal the group go to Byroden. Opal finds out Ted doesn't live there anymore, and when she asks what happened a local says that Ted left three days after Opal had and hasn't been seen since. They assumed she and Opal still kept in touch. Opal's only response is to quietly try to make a run for it.
  • Mystical White Hair: Her character portrait is depicted with bright opal hair, and she is a Hexblade warlock. She later reveals it's a dye job, but in episode 8 she puts on the Circle of Barbed Vision and it washes it out, replacing it with genuine iridescent hair.
  • Ominous Obsidian Ooze: The Circlet of Barbed Vision emits a viscous black ichor, among the other things that turned Opal in a creature "terrifying and beautiful at once". Lolth gave her the chance to remove it after that Opal accepted to become her Champion; but having Opal realized how powerful that imagery can be, she decided to keep the ichor even if she doesn't love the fact that it makes impossible for her to keep her clothes clean.
  • Pink Is Feminine: She's a feminine person inside-out and wears various shades of pink on her person. Even her daggers are a dull shade of pink!
  • Running Gag: Her yelling out for things. It all began with her yelling for "food" and over the course of the campaign, she continues calling out for things, hoping they'll come to her.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After finding out that Ted left Byroden shortly after she had and has not been seen since, Opal's only response is to try and run from the conversation.
  • Shock and Awe: Knows the spell Witch Bolt and proves to be quite proficient with it by destroying an enemy within the first round of combat in a literal flash.
  • Too Spicy for Yog-Sothoth: Played for Laughs in Episode 5 when Opal becomes the first person in Exandrian history to infuriate the Wildmother.
