Main Characters

    Bunsen

"I love humans... but especially that one!"
Voiced by: Jeremy Rowley

Bunsen is a beast who becomes friends with Mikey and is the first beast to become a student in a human school.

  • Berserk Button: Tangelos. It's not that he hates the taste, he just hates that they aren't oranges despite looking like them.
  • Bizarre Alien Biology: So bizarre, even he barely knows how it works. For starters, he can shoot confetti out of his head and his sneezes create small, green creatures called sneeze beasts which get bigger after being hit with a broom.
  • The Cuckoolander Was Right: In "Spelling Beast", he believes bees to be good at spelling on the basis that otherwise spelling bees wouldn't be named after the insects. After slowly transforming into a bee, he ultimately ends up winning the spelling bee.
  • Does Not Like Spam: He dislikes frozen yogurt and tangelos.
  • Fear of Thunder: In "Thunder And Frightening".
  • Goo Goo Getup: The Halloween Episode has him go as a baby.
  • Humanity Ensues: He becomes human in "Handsome Beast".
  • Keet: Even moreso than Mikey.
  • Losing Your Head: Can detach his head no problem.
  • Morphic Resonance: In "Handsome Beast", using a body spray on himself causes Bunsen to transform into an attractive human. His new form has blue hair, the same yellow eyes, and his clothes have the same color scheme as his original form.
  • Naïve Newcomer: Unfamiliar with the human world, so Mikey is there to help him.
  • Nice Guy: For a beast, he's actually a sweet kid.
  • Perpetual Smiler: You could count the amount of times he doesn't smile each episode with just one hand.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: Just look at him.
  • Supernatural Gold Eyes: He has these, representing his fun attitude and the fact he's learning what humans do.
  • Sweet Tooth: Loves ice cream.
  • Token Non-Human: Bunsen is the first beast to attend a human school.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Develops an insatiable craving for ice cream.

    Mikey Munroe

"Umm... I dunno know..."
Voiced by: Ben Giroux

Mikey is a human friend of Bunsen, and helps him navigate through school life.

  • Alliterative Name: Mikey Munroe.
  • All-Loving Hero: He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He even treats Amanda fairly most of the time, despite her evil actions.
  • Book Dumb: "Spelling Beast" shows him to be unable to spell even the simplest of words.
  • Forced Dance Partner: At the end of "Wilda Beast", Mikey is forced into a dance by Abhorrent Admirer Amanda Killman.
  • Keet: It's not a Butch Hartman comedy without a cute, colorful and cheerful character.
  • Nice Guy: He's thoughtful, open-minded and devoted to his new best friend Bunsen having a safe, happy life in the human world.
  • Official Couple: Sophie reciprocates his feelings for her by the end of "Beauty or the Beast".
  • Only Friend: While he's not the only human who interacts with Bunsen, he's the only human who considers him a friend.
  • Redhead In Green: Wears a green sweater vest and has red hair.

    Amanda Killman

"This is your last day, Bunsen, so toodle-oo. Or should I say toodle-loser."
Voiced by: Kari Wahlgren

Amanda is Mikey's enemy who despises Bunsen and is constantly scheming to get rid of him so his kind doesn't increase on earth.

  • Abhorrent Admirer:
    • Becomes an unwanted admirer to Bunsen in "Handsome Beast" when she becomes attracted to his human form.
    • Several episodes make her this to Mikey, making attempts to kiss him while Mikey is clearly not flattered by her affections.
    • At the end of "Beast Halloween Ever", she starts flirting with Sweet Teeth after being informed that Phlegm Hocker (a beast with the appearance of a well-built hunk) is spoken for. Sweet Teeth clearly doesn't like Amanda's interest in him.
  • Animals Hate Her: Apparently, they can sense her innate evil. Though there are exceptions, like the kitten Bunsen gave her for Beastgiving, and a fruit bat that mistook her for its mother.
  • Bad Boss: She treats her subordinate, Beverly, very harshly.
  • Big Bad: She's the main antagonist, as the conflict of the series is driven mainly by her efforts in forcing Bunsen out of town by any means necessary (and sometimes causing him misery just because she can).
  • Bigot with a Crush: In spite of her hatred of beasts, she shows attraction to Phlegm Hocker and Sweet Teeth in "Beast Halloween Ever".
  • Braces of Orthodontic Overkill: Has really large braces on her teeth.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: She freely admits to being "evil" and a "horrible person" who enjoys the misery of others.
  • Character Catchphrase: "I like it!"
  • Composite Character: She is like a mix between Vicky (being a girl who is regarded as evil incarnate and delights in causing trouble for the main characters) and Mr. Crocker (having an obsessive vendetta towards a supernatural race) from The Fairly OddParents!.
  • Deadpan Snarker: She sometimes makes snarky remarks, mainly about how Miss Flap is a teacher in spite of being a certified nutcase.
  • Depending on the Writer:
    • Her academic abilities. In "Thunder and Frightening", she is able to perfectly describe the process that makes rain, but in "Hall of Justice", she's said to be such a poor student that she's unlikely to ever graduate from middle school.
    • Her attitude toward Mikey. In some episodes, she totally hates him, and schemes to ruin his day For the Evulz. In others, she openly flirts with him, and goes to great lengths to spend time alone with him.
  • Dirty Kid: Constantly admitting "I like it!" around anything, police, the army, boys in gym shorts, etc.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: She is shown to be very kind to her pet fruit bat, Mariah Scary, who Amanda kept around when Mariah mistook her for her mother when she was just a baby. Amanda even says that she's her BFF (Bat Friend Forever).
  • Eviler than Thou: In "Beast of Friends", she enters into a Villain Team-Up with Mr. Crocker, only to betray him for her own benefit.
  • Fantastic Racism: Amanda will exploit anything negative about beasts to get rid of Bunsen.
  • Fat and Skinny: She's the skinny girl to her assistant Beverly's fat girl.
  • Gonk: Just look at her.
  • Goofy Print Underwear: On "Remote Outta Control", Amanda is revealed to wear frilly bright pink panties when she gets a wedgie by her smart house's security system and smart toaster.
  • Hated by All: She constantly gets attacked by animals and Bunsen's house because of her evil status. Bunsen even says as much in "Network Newbs" when he addresses that she is universally despised by all.
  • Invisible Parents: She mentions her father a couple of times, but we never see either of her parents.
  • Iron Butt Monkey: Her schemes backfire so much that it's a miracle she can still walk.
  • Ironic Name: Her name is Latin for "worthy of love", of which she is the complete opposite of.
  • Karmic Butt-Monkey: The meanest character in the show as well as the one most frequently subjected to slapstick injuries and misfortunes.
  • Laughably Evil: Prejudiced against beasts, manipulative, derives joy from the suffering from others... yet she provides a lot of the show's humor.
  • Manipulative Bitch: A major part of her character is to set her plans in motion by being deceitful towards everyone.
  • Meaningful Name: She's the villain of the show and her surname is Killman.
  • Pungeon Master: She really loves to make (often insulting) puns.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning/Exhausted Eye Bags: Her eyes are outlined in a fiery red, and have large bags under them. "Hug It Out-ch!" suggests that the red is actually mascara, as it runs after she spends a night in the rain.
  • Series Goal: To get rid of Bunsen so his kind won't increase in the human world.
  • Slasher Smile: As you can probably tell by the picture above.
  • Spitty Speaker: She often spits when she talks, due to wearing braces. Her first scene has her making a villainous rant toward Mikey that leaves him covered in spit afterwards.
  • Stronger Than They Look: She's quite strong for her size, able to send Mikey flying with a judo throw in "Handsome Beast". In "Beastie Besties", she claims to be "wiry, like a spider monkey".
  • Team Rocket Wins: The one time she doesn't lose is in "Wilda Beast", where she gets to kick a beast in the face and to slow dance with her unwilling object of affection Mikey.
  • Too Kinky to Torture: Whenever arrested by the police or the military, she lustfully admits she likes it.
  • Villainous Crush: Implied to have a crush on Mikey, as she accidentally admitted he'd look great in gym shorts.
    • In "Beast Busters", she asks Mikey if he's gotten a tan, then adds "Mama likes."
    • In "Beastern Standard Time", an Alternate Timeline version of her announces that she's late for her wedding to Mikey.
    • In "Bromeo and Juliet", she is intent on getting the starring role in the school play so she can kiss him.
  • Villainous Rescue: In "Wilda Beast", she saves Mikey from getting beaten up by Wilda's jealous boyfriend.
  • Wedgie: On "Remote Outta Control", Amanda's smart house's security system gave her a hanging wedgie with the hook and then an atomic wedgie. At the end of the episode, she gets another hanging wedgie from her smart toaster that was malfunctioning.

Supporting Characters

    Darcy
Voiced by: Cristina Milizia

Darcy is a recurring character who occasionally comes along with Bunsen and Mikey on their adventures.

  • Ambiguously Brown: She has darker skin than Mikey and Amanda.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: To say that she's odd would be a huge understatement. Part of it may be due to her experience of being home-schooled preventing her from learning how to properly interact with others and obtaining a clear understanding of how the world works.
  • Homeschooled Kids: She gets taught by her mother instead of Muckledunk Middle School.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: She can sometimes be right up on Mikey's face, which causes Mikey to be uncomfortable.
  • Remember the New Guy?: In her first appearance, both Mikey and Bunsen already show familiarity with her.
  • Technicolor Eyes: Her eyes are bright pink.

    Beverly
Voiced by: Kari Wahlgren

Beverly is Amanda's weak-willed assistant, who inexplicably dresses identically to her boss.

    Sophie Sanders
Voiced by: Kari Wahlgren

Sophie is a girl whom Mikey has a crush on.

  • Brainless Beauty: In "Bromeo and Juliet", she is incapable of counting to 100, and when Amanda turns off the lights, Sophie thinks she's just closed her eyes.
  • Expy: A kinder version of Trixie Tang from The Fairly OddParents!, being a girl Mikey has a crush on who initially is oblivious of his affections.
  • Nice Girl: She's pretty friendly whenever she interacts with Mikey.
  • Official Couple: She reciprocates Mikey's feelings for her by the end of "Beauty or the Beast".
  • Satellite Love Interest: The only purpose she serves is to be the girl that Mikey has a crush on.

    Miss Flap
Voiced by: Cheri Oteri

The teacher for Mikey's class.

  • Cloudcuckoolander: She does all kinds of crazy things, such as sleeping standing up like a horse, acting like a cuckoo clock, and more. She has even forgotten that she is a teacher on occasion and a lot of the information she teaches her class isn't academically appropriate or accurate by any stretch.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Despite her dotty nature, she can be counted on to enforce the rules in a decent manner.
  • Screw the Money, I Have Rules!: When Amanda tries to bribe her into letting her take the role of Juliet in "Bromeo and Juliet", Miss Flap turns the bribe down.
  • Ultimate Job Security: It would be a valid question to ask how she still has a teaching job in spite of her consistent displays of negligence and wingnuttery.
  • Uncatty Resemblance: She owns a poodle who looks a lot like her (including wearing the same glasses).

    Commander Cone
Voiced by: Jerry Trainor

The local ice cream man.

  • Bad Humor Truck: He's a very cranky ice cream salesman, even by the standards of this trope.
  • Jaded Washout: He is very aware of how bad his life has become, and regularly complains about it.
  • Not Good with Rejection: Downplayed and justified. Cone frequently and loudly bemoans how Vanessa dumped him and how he wants her back, so he was clearly deeply affected by it. However, Vanessa never actually appears in-person, so it never gets past the complaining and self-pity that's Played for Laughs. Also, she dumped him for becoming an ice cream man (and on his birthday, no less), so it's easy to understand why he struggles with this.
  • Suddenly Shouting: Has a habit of doing this.
Commander Cone: "What has happened to my life? I USED TO BE POPULAR!!"
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: His prominent appearances usually end with him getting some satisfaction, such as a lot of money or praise from bystanders.

    Bob and Ken
Voiced by: Jeff Bennett (Bob), Phil Lamarr (Ken)

Muckledunk's newscasters, who are never seen without one another.

  • Ambiguously Gay: They live together, have never been indicated to be attracted to women and Ken at one point says something about them not having his mother's approval.
  • Kent Brockman News: They're Muckledunk's news anchors and are rarely played seriously.
  • Manchild: Both of them are pretty immature at times, which is best exemplified in the Christmas Episode by having Bob want a monkey for Christmas and Ken want a flashlight he can use to stay up past his bedtime reading comics under the bedsheets (plus Santa's elves stressing how it's important to give Bob and Ken presents as well as the children of Muckledunk).
