Archer Heroes

    Brunhilda, Strawberry Menace
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aov_brunhilda_350x441.jpg
"Get your weapons and let's go!"
Voiced by:
Faction: Federation of Free
Honor of Kings counterpart: Huang Zhong

Formerly a member of the Night Owl gang of the Free Federations, treading between ethical and unethical actions. Brunhilda became the gang leader after the former leader and her now ex-boyfriend, Negvar, abandoned them to be captured by the authorities. Brunhilda and a few men only escaped prison time due to the current sheriff, Rourke, being generous. Brunhilda returned home to Mildar, but shortly after, she was sent by her mother to become an apprentice and adopted daughter of the weaponsmith Moren. At first, she didn't get along with Moren's other adopted children, Max and Wisp. However, things changes for good when Negvar comes to visit and manipulates Brunhilda to get him off scots free by holding Wisp hostage. Thanks to Wisp's quick thinking, Brunhilda manages to stop Negvar and make him pay for his crimes, while finally being accepted in Wisp's family.

Brunhilda is an artillery-style Archer hero who can turn her equipment into a temporary turret, boasting impressive range and power.

  • Her passive is Ballistics. Brunhilda temporarily increases her own attack power and critical chance if she manages to land a normal attack to an enemy. This stacks up to 5 times.
  • Her first skill is Redeploy. Brunhilda gains a massive speed boost that decays over time. She can also cancel her ultimate using this skill.
  • Her second skill is Sentry. Brunhilda drops a mine that is visible for all to see. If an enemy steps on it, the mine explodes, dealing damage, slowing, decreasing the defense of and revealing enemies caught in the explosion. In the same time, Brunhilda gains a temporary shield.
  • Her ultimate is Entrench. Brunhilda sets up an artillery with her equipment and plants herself in place, unable to move during the location. In exchange, she gains massive boost in defense, attack power and range. Her normal attack now deals damage to everyone in a circular radius (with her target at the center) and she can attack up to 7 times until she has to fold her equipment back again. She can use her first skill to cancel the ultimate prematurely.

  • Dub Name Change: In several servers, she's instead referred as "Celica".
  • Happily Adopted: Her mom sends her off to be adopted by Moren. Brunhilda only has early issues with her future adopted siblings, but she absolutely got no problems with Moren.
  • Long-Range Fighter: Bar none, she is the hero with greatest range in the game, even if it's only temporarily, thanks to her ultimate. The tradeoff is that she absolutely can't move during the process, so she requires protection.
  • No Accounting for Taste: An eventually self-admitted one too. Brunhilda thought her boyfriend Negvar was great, until it turns out that he's a self-serving scum. Even Wisp says she has a poor taste in boyfriends.
  • Retired Outlaw: She used to be a gang member and even went to jail once. Ever since she's adopted to Moren's household, she tried to clean herself up from her old gang ways, even if she departed amicably with her other former members.
  • Sentry Gun: Her ultimate turns her bunch of equipments into what basically amounts into a mini-turret. More fragile (Despite the bonus stats given to her), but has a greater range.

"Life is as brilliant as blooming flowers."
Voiced by: Daiki Kobayashi (JP)
Faction: Afata
Honor of Kings counterpart: Gongsun Li/Arli

In the past, Eland'orr was a charismatic and rebellious elf boy who caused trouble wherever he went. He was childhood friends with Krixi, who developed a crush on him and wanted to send him a love letter. Before that day came, however, Eland'orr unwittingly committed a grave sin; he pressured his other friends to accompany him to marvel at the artifact known as the Soul Lamp, and then he accidentally broke it. The ruined Soul Lamp's essences spread throughout Afata, trapping his friends within and affecting Queen Tel'Annas, forcing her to enter a deep slumber for years. Wracked with guilt, Eland'orr accepted his punishment of eternal imprisonment accompanied only by the souls of his friends within the ruined Soul Lamp. However, the Soul Lamp granted him new powers with the approval of his friends. Eventually, Eland'orr was set free by the orders of Tel'Annas before she slept; he was tasked with traveling throughout Athanor to find a way to fix the Soul Lamp as his atonement. Humbled by the incident, Eland'orr now travels the world as an introspective and calm soul to redeem himself.

Eland'orr is a jungle-based Marksman hero who utilizes the Soul Lamp to teleport around the battlefield while harnessing its power to strike his enemies.

  • His passive is Soul Seal. Eland'orr marks those he attacks with a Soul Seal mark. After he adds 3 marks, an explosion is triggered, damaging nearby enemies and adding a new seal. Eland'orr's Soul Lamp takes the form of a butterfly that lingers around for a time after he uses a skill. He can then re-cast the skill to teleport to the Soul Lamp's location. Getting to the Soul Lamp's location causes him to pick up the lamp, and he gains a damage boost for a time. If he casts a skill without the Soul Lamp in his possession, he gains movement speed and base attack interval reduction.
  • His first skill is Butterfly Wings. Eland'orr dashes forward while leaving behind the Soul Lamp in his initial position.
  • His second skill is Butterfly Dance. Eland'orr unleashes the Soul Lamp, damaging nearby enemies and letting the Soul Lamp fly around in a circle for a period of time. The Soul Lamp can damage an enemy twice at most.
  • His ultimate is Metamorphosis. Eland'orr blasts the enemy in front of him with the Soul Lamp, knocking his enemies backwards and sending the Soul Lamp forward a short distance for a brief time.

  • Accidentally Broke the MacGuffin: His character arc started at the moment when he broke the Soul Lamp. The artifact was important enough that breaking it cursed Tel'Annas, the beloved Queen and defender of Afata, to fall into deep slumber.
  • Animal Motifs: Butterflies, as it's the form the Soul Lamp takes. It's ironic that it's Eland'orr who gets this motif, not a certain someone literally named "Butterfly".
  • The Atoner: He's on a Redemption Quest to make up for his act of breaking the Soul Lamp and sealing his friends.
  • Former Teen Rebel: He was a rebellious elf, though one that exuded the aura that caused All Girls Want Bad Boys (including both Krixi and Aya). Then the Soul Lamp incident happened, and Eland'orr wised up afterwards.
  • Love Triangle: The two elven girls of Afata, Krixi and Aya, are vying over him. He gives them equal attention since he's more concerned about his redemption.
  • The Pollyanna: On the outside, Eland'orr seems like a calm and collected kind guy. However, he's still harboring his immense guilt over breaking the Soul Lamp and dooming his friends.
  • Teleportation: Eland'orr can teleport a short distance only to retrieve his Soul Lamp. He can't teleport too far from his current location.

    Elsu, the Soaring Falcon

"The spirits of my ancestors guide me."
Voiced by: Christopher Judge (EN), Shin-ichiro Miki (JP)
Faction: Federation of Free
Honor of Kings counterpart: Baili Shouyue/Farshot

The guardian of the city of Mildar, part of the Federation of Free. The city was once a rich mining town, and Elsu reaped its fortunes by training hard in a military academy to become its guardian, protecting it with his life. The city, however, was running out of resources and the Federation decided to pull off all help, leaving it to wither and die. In exchange, a decree was issued: Any warriors who fight against the incoming Lokheim invasion will have a chance to reclaim their glory. Many able villagers answered the call... but not Elsu, who stayed behind to protect the dying city that he felt indebted to, even if he would be marked as a coward. In the end, there were only a few survivors from that war, including his old friend Moren. Elsu made up his mind afterwards, the next time the enemy comes knocking on his door, he will make his move against them.

Elsu is a Marksman/Assassin hero acting as a true sniper. He shoots fewer bullets than any other archer, but those bullets are extremely powerful and he has a great range due to being a sniper.

  • His passive is Stalk. Elsu has a low attack speed, but this is offset by how each of his normal attacks is more powerful, but cannot cause a critical strike. Any critical strike bonuses will become flat damage bonuses. Additionally, when Elsu is not fighting and is near an obstacle, he gains movement speed and invisibility.
  • His first skill is Sentinel. Elsu plants a non-damaging mine device that reveals everything around it, and Elsu deals more damage to those around the device. He has 3 charges and can plant up to 3 devices at a time. The device can be deactivated if an enemy stands on top of it for a few seconds. Passively, for every second of not moving, Elsu gains an Ambush stack up to 5, and increases his own Armor Pierce.
  • His second skill is Snipe. Elsu stands in place, takes aim and increases his range per second until at one point the skill is released, at which point he executes a sniper shot that goes to a line and strikes the first enemy that makes contact with a lot of damage. If he releases early (in which case his firing range is formed like a wide cone), he shoots erratically, which has a high chance of missing. Those successfully shot will be slowed. Elsu can store up to 3 charges.
  • His ultimate is Disengage. Elsu fires in a target direction while jumping backwards. The enemy hit will be slowed while Elsu gains movement speed as long as he's not attacking again.

  • Cold Sniper: Subverted. He's a calm and solitary loner, which are good trappings for a sniper. But he's not rude or cold.
  • Glass Cannon: As a sniper, Elsu has a slow attack speed, but each attack will hurt a lot more and his second skill is overly dependent on player skill (therefore, has big chances of missing). Most players encourage to just maximize his attack power anyway to the point that a normal attack will take out about 1/4 of a squishy hero's HP. But, he's still encouraged to stay in the back and avoid prolonged close range encounters, because unless he can escape, he's still going to go down quickly.
  • Hollywood Natives: Subverted. Elsu has a lot of trappings of a Hollywood indigenous Indian and is very in-touch with the spirits, even keeping an eagle. However, he's a techno-savvy man. As part of the Federation of Free, he does not have time for magic.
  • Long-Range Fighter: He's a sniper character; he's more at home when he's far away from the frontline.
  • The So-Called Coward: Elsu refused to directly participate in the glorious war in favor of defending his own home of Mildar, even if it was dying. He's ridiculed as a coward as a result, but the war was disastrous, and Elsu was still standing and bravely fighting for those who threatened Mildar.
  • Sniper Rifle: The token sniper-wielding character, who may be inspired by Nova, given his own stealth option. Elsu's second skill also puts you in the position of a sniper, where you have to aim for a more successful, accurate shot, and taking aim also takes time.

"As swift as the wind. As gentle as the forest."
Voiced by: Mitsuru Miyamoto (JP)
Faction: Lokheim
Honor of Kings counterpart: Marco Polo/Pistolero

Hayate used to be one of the most loyal ninjas of the Dragon Clan that served the Temple of Light from the Mist Island that defended them from The Fallen in accordance with the Pact of Light. However, he felt that his efforts were unappreciated, his clansmen were dying for naught, and the death of his grandmaster was the last straw for Hayate. He decided to steal the Pact with the help of Mganga and Veera of Lokheim, but he was ultimately foiled by the machinations of the temple. He stayed in the shadows of Lokheim afterwards, thanks to Mganga's magic assistance drawing him to the darkness, but he will return... to finish what he started.

Hayate is a slippery Archer hero who excels in harassing the enemy from afar before moving in to execute them. He runs on Energy instead of Mana.

  • His passive is Blood of the Dragon. Hayate's normal attack bounces to another nearby target and marks the target each time it is hit. If he hits the same target multiple times, his next attack deals true damage.
  • His first ability is Shuriken Toss. Hayate throws a lot of shurikens in a direction, increasing movement speed, triggering an orb effect, recovering Energy when he's hit, and Hayate is free to walk while throwing the shurikens (but the throwing direction will not change).
  • His second skill is Shadow Speed. Hayate dashes to a location, but if there's an enemy near his landing point, he will receive increased attack and movement speed.
  • His ultimate is Kunai Blitz. Hayate teleports to a location and immediately creates a tornado of kunai tosses that damages anyone around him in a circle over time while moving forward.

  • Adaptational Villainy: Marco Polo certainly did not choose to get into thralls of the demons as Hayate did (even if his 'superior' Milady is a morally grey baroness).
  • Fallen Hero: He used to be a protector of light, but Veda's Light Is Not Good tendencies started to make him doubt his loyalty, and so he turned towards Lokheim for the protection of the clan.
  • Fragile Speedster: Hayate is incredibly slippery for an Archer and can work around his position well and make enemies chase him futilely. But he can't deal sudden burst damage without putting himself in danger, in which case he can pop off quicker than he kills his enemies.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: Hayate believes that the Veda are just taking the Mist Island's services for granted and doesn't care how many bodies pile up on the Mist Island's side. For that, he blamed the Pact of Light and believed that Lokheim could protect them better. Even so, when the emissary of Lokheim he contacted was Mganga…
  • Ninja: Wears a mask, has a Japanese name, and throws shurikens and kunais. Even if the mask looks like it covers his whole face, Hayate is absolutely a ninja. Additionally, he excels in poking his enemies and slipping away from their grasp before finding the time to go all in and kill his enemies with his ultimate, like a ninja who excels in stealth, not getting caught by his enemies and assassinating them when the time is right.
  • The Paragon Always Rebels: Hayate was once the brightest ninja of the Mist Islands. But it was he who first noticed the corrupt side of Veda/the Temple of Light at the expense of his people and the grandmaster, so he decided to rebel against it in order to save his people.
  • The Rival: He has a rivalry with the kunoichi, Airi. They are both from the Mist Islands. Airi still stayed loyal to the Mist Islands and Veda.
  • Stock Ninja Weaponry: He utilizes shurikens and kunai, two of the most common types of weapons utilized by ninjas.

    Laville, Celestial Light

"Oh. Alone, are we?"
Voiced by: Brandon Hearnsberger (EN)
Faction: Light-Chasers
Honor of Kings counterparts:
[Moveset] Hou Yi/Solarus (partial)
[Crossover skin] Marco Polo/Pistolero

A lackadaisical boy from Mildar, living a carefree life with a hobby of going to the shooting range. One day, Laville learned that his neighbor's son was burdened by a great debt due to gambling in a casino that charged extremely high interest, and he has yet to return home. Laville grabbed his guns and rescued said son from the casino. The next day, Laville was taken by force to meet the casino owner: Gildur of Veda. Rather than punish the boy, Gildur gave him an offer to join the Veda faction due to his personal interest in Laville's shooting skills. At this rate, it would take Laville 30 years of hard work to pay off his friend’s debt, but Gildur promised that the salary for working with Veda would clear the debt in no time, along with other potential benefits he could have. The salary prospect was the very factor that made Laville go from rejecting the offer to accepting it wholeheartedly. Now, as a member of Veda, Laville still remains the same, an undisciplined mood-maker who nonetheless covers his flaws with his shooting talent and tries his best to make the otherwise dull place more lively. He now wields a light-shooting gun and is assigned to the Light Chasers squad, to take on various missions to help Veda.

Laville is a rapid-fire Archer hero whose normal attacks can turn into a barrage of rapid fire shots until he prepares for a big shot that travels throughout the map.

  • His passive is Lucky Star. Laville stacks up a Shoot stack, which minorly raises his attack speed, if he successfully hits someone with a normal attack. Once he reaches 3 stacks, Laville enters a "Lucky Star" state, where his normal attacks now shoot three bullets, each only dealing 40% damage. The state only lasts temporarily, but Laville can extend it by continuously attacking.
  • His first skill is Light Chaser. Laville temporarily buffs his attack damage and deals additional damage to 2 additional enemies in front of him.
  • His second skill is Mighty Shield. Laville generates a magic shield around himself. The shield absorbs damage, gives him extra movement speed and one-time crowd control resistance (except slow and suppression types). If he's hit with a crowd control effect that he resisted, Laville loses his movement speed boost and shield, but temporarily gains complete crowd control immunity.
  • His ultimate is Double Trouble. After he reunites both guns, Laville shoots a powerful bullet of light that travels throughout the map in a direction. If it hits a hero, the bullet explodes, dealing damage to and stunning enemy heroes around them. The farther the bullet has traveled, the longer the stun will be, up to 3.5 seconds.

  • Adaptational Comic Relief: The moveset is transferred from the focused and serious Hou Yi to the bumbling, fun-loving Laville. It's only downplayed with his crossover skin counterpart, since Marco Polo is less serious, but not to the point of a ladies man wannabe like Laville.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: He's a talented gunner, but he'd rather slack off or have fun.
  • Composite Character: A majority of his skills are taken from Hou Yi, but his shield/second skill is instead taken from Sun Wukong.
  • Dub Name Change: Outside the English language, his name is changed into "Lavie".
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Not a lot of people appreciate his sense of humor. His fellow Light Chaser heroes; Zata, Rouie and Teeri; look at him with annoyance even if they agree to work as a team when the situation calls.
  • Guns Akimbo: Laville dual-wields guns similar to Violet. The difference is that his guns shoot out bullets made of light.
  • Keet: The mood maker of the Light Chasers. Laville makes it his mission to liven up the overly serious and dull Veda faction.
  • No-Sell: His second skill allows him to tank one crowd control effect, which is then replaced with a complete crowd control immunity if he's somehow given one such effect.
  • Pretty Boy: One of the heroes designed to look anime-ish. Laville has a pretty face, even if he doesn't look too girly.
  • Work Off the Debt: Laville joined the Veda to earn money in order to pay off the debt of his neighbor's son. As Gildur noted, his talent enables him to earn money quickly to pay off the debt, but Laville decides to just continue staying in Veda, as he finds it to be a great place to hang around with some friends.

"We are the eternal keepers of the Lunar Realm."
Voiced by: Cristina Valenzuela (EN), Ai Kayano (JP)
Faction: Afata
Honor of Kings counterpart: Genghis Khan

A member of a tribe within Afata that worships the moon. Lindis grew up with her sister Luna, and both were to become the two chief priests when they came of age. Yet, Lindis always felt inferior in every way to her sister, who instead accepted her for who she was and loved her. Eventually, disaster struck when Mganga wormed his way into the tribe's ranks and played with Lindis' inferiority complex, manipulating her and eventually trying to siphon her power and life away. Luna sensed this and interfered, sacrificing her life and fusing with Lindis, giving her the true power of the moon. Mganga escaped, and ever since then, while doing her duties within Afata, Lindis has been hunting for the murderer of her sister.

Lindis is an Archer hero who feels more at home in the jungle, as the bushes empower her to decimate her enemies with her empowered attacks while laying traps for them.

  • Her passive is Tread Softly. If Lindis enters a bush, she gains a temporary speed boost, which strengthens her next normal attack and also makes it fire twice.
  • Her first skill is Piercing Gaze. Lindis illuminates the area surrounding her, revealing the locations of nearby enemies, including stealthed ones. Passively, when Lindis attacks the same enemy three times, the third hit will deal bonus damage.
  • Her second skill is Entrapment. Lindis lays down a trap that will slow down enemies while revealing them and also deal damage after a delay. The trap becomes invisible after 2 seconds, and Lindis can store up to 2 traps.
  • Her ultimate is Lunar Champion. Lindis sends out a spirit to attack the enemies, which procs on-hit effects. The damage may be small, but Lindis comes with five charges of the ultimate, allowing multiple hits.

  • Always Second Best: Lindis has an inferiority complex towards her sister, but the two are devoted siblings.
  • Arch-Enemy: Mganga is her worst enemy for tricking her and forcing Luna to sacrifice herself.
  • Lunacy: Her power is drawn from the moon. Fortunately, insanity isn't included in said power.
  • Mystical White Hair: Being able to draw out the mystical power of the moon also explains why Lindis has white/silver hair.
  • Revenge: She's out to make Mganga pay for her sister's death.
  • So Much for Stealth: Stealth heroes will find it a complete hassle when they face off against Lindis. She can reveal their locations on the go, and so do her traps.
  • You Killed My Father: Lindis is driven to seek revenge for her sister by hunting down her murderer, Mganga.

Stuart

"Outstanding collection, isn't it? Would you like to become part of it?"
Voiced by:
Faction: Shadow Hand (hired)

The stepson of a renowned scientist in Ramboat. Stuart was born with the unnatural ability to see the pattern of people's lives. Despite this, Stuart grew up as a normal boy who helped his father's research and also studied science and alchemy. He also befriended Kaine as his inspirational big brother figure, who told him heroic stories until Kaine's own departure to live with Sinestrea, his cousin, and her family.

One day, Stuart saw his stepfather dead in his lab. There, he saw his stepfather's life force pattern blooming beautifully like an aurora at night as he was dying. Stuart became obsessed with collecting similar beautiful patterns and decided to become a criminal known as 'The Collector'. He would search for people and murder them in brutal and sadistic ways, then use his knowledge of science and alchemy to crystalize the beautiful patterns of dying people, keeping them in his archive for personal collection.

Stuart eventually makes himself the Arch-Enemy of Kaine when he murders Kaine and Sinestrea's families. There, Stuart realizes that the idea of Kaine succumbing to his demonic lineage will make a pattern that's almost as beautiful as the people he killed, so he decides to antagonize and torture Kaine mentally when he can.

The Joker

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aov_the_joker_350x441.jpg
"You can't spell 'slaughter' without 'laughter'! Hahahaha!!"
Voiced by:
Faction: N/A (DC Universe)
Batman's most notorious Arch-Enemy, an agent of chaos, styling himself as a clown that makes deadly jokes, whose past was very difficult to decipher thanks to his preference for Multiple-Choice Past. The Joker, formerly a small-time crook and eventually transformed into Gotham's most vicious criminal, has terrorized Gotham and attempted to crush Batman's ideals, but the Dark Knight never faltered and was always ready to apprehend him and send him to Arkham Asylum. There, he encountered a man driven into madness after discovering a portal that would lead into Athanor. After 'befriending' and getting his secrets, the Joker once again escaped Arkham Asylum and made his way to Athanor, considering it a new place of beauty and order... to be corrupted as a grand joke.

Stuart and Joker are Archer heroes specializing in harassing their targets with increasingly powerful shots, withstanding normal attacks before leaping close and injecting a dose of special toxin to disorient or outright kill the enemy.

  • Stuart's passive is Crime Spree. Stuart can gather stacks when using normal attacks, first skill, and ultimate, as long as he hits an enemy hero with them. Once he reaches four stacks, he enters the Enhanced state.
    • As Joker, the passive was known as Punch Line and worked differently. Joker could store up to 5 gunshots for normal attacks, which has enhanced damage based on the enemy's HP. If his gun is empty, he throws knives for his normal attacks. He can recharge by waiting for 10 seconds or by hitting an enemy hero with his first skill or ultimate.
  • Stuart's first skill is Death Bloom, titled The Killing Joke for Joker. Stuart aims his gun and launches a red bullet that deals damage to an enemy in line, with no damage reduction for the second enemy hit onwards after a short delay. In Enhanced state, Stuart eliminates the delay, and the bullet deals more damage than normal. The Joker replaces the gun with a rocket launcher.
  • Stuart's second skill is Eyes of Fervor, titled Pick A Card, Any Card for Joker. Stuart/Joker becomes temporarily immune to physical attacks while gaining movement speed.
  • Stuart's ultimate is Last Breath, titled Canned Laughter for Joker. Stuart/Joker jumps while gaining crowd control immunity, landing on a target without fail. After stunning them briefly, Stuart/Joker places a bomb (containing Joker Toxin for Joker) on their target, damaging them while they leap back to create distance between them and their target.

Tropes associated with both

  • Adaptational Villainy: Their origin, Consort Yu, only looked antagonistic because she has been Brainwashed and Crazy. The Joker is known as one of the most renowned supervillains in DC Comics for a good reason: he doesn't regret any of his crimes. Meanwhile, Stuart is a complete sociopath who doesn't need any other influence to be an evil sociopath.
  • Arch-Enemy: As The Joker serves as Batman's eternal Arch-Enemy, Stuart also serves the same role as Batman's replacement, Kaine.
  • Ax-Crazy: Both of them are crazed psychopaths, clearly obvious dangers to society.
  • Boring, but Practical: They both don't do many overcomplicated things for their skills (ironically for Joker, as he likes to make a joke out of things that require some theatrics); all they have is a normal and linear shot, a physical immunity buff, and a vaulting attack. All of them still deal pretty big damage while allowing them to box with other archers safely, making them solid archers. Even the Enhanced state is pretty simple, which only modifies the delay of the first skill.
  • No-Sell: They can temporarily block off physical damage with their second skill, which is very useful if they want to duel an enemy archer.
  • One-Hit Polykill: Their first skills deal huge damage to a line without any damage reductions to the second enemy hit onwards.
  • Psycho for Hire: Emulating how the Joker was often hired by other villains, Stuart lends his services to anyone who needs some killing done so he can gather more patterns for his collections.

Tropes associated with Stuart

  • And I Must Scream: If Stuart sees someone with a pattern he likes, he attempts to kill them but stops when they're about to die. In the moment when they're screaming for their lives, Stuart encases them in a special statue where they're forever forced to relive 'the most beautiful moment of their life': when they're screaming in agony as death approaches them, but thanks to Stuart's actions, death will never come.
Stuart: "You're not dead. You're just frozen in time during the most beautiful moment in your life."
  • The Collector: Stuart has been collecting patterns of life force that only he can see. However, he wants to have the most beautiful pattern, which can only be produced by people about to die. The more brutal the death, the more beautiful the pattern.
  • Expy: Aside from Joker, Stuart also draws similarities with Khada Jhin. Both of them are heinous gunslingers obsessed with finding beautiful things only found when someone is about to die, making them deranged murderers.
  • Eye Scream: Stuart's right left eye was scarred by Kaine after Stuart murdered his parents. It gives Stuart more reasons to antagonize Kaine, aside from his obsession.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: One of his walking quotes has him express that he still feels sad when he remembers that his father died... because he was too late to turn said father into a stunning work of art (in other words, putting his father into his own pattern collection).
  • Jump Scare: In his opening animation, the background is set in Stuart's lab with blood red colors, with Stuart facing the back. He vanishes for a short while, until suddenly he pops up real close with Slasher Smile and glowing red eyes, before aiming his gun to shoot.
  • Practically Joker: Subverted. Stuart replaces the Joker, but only shares his crazy, murderous sociopathy. He does not dress up like a Monster Clown nor does he pepper his actions with dark humor.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: His eyes are red-colored and glow in even a greater crimson color when he's activating his power.
  • Serial Killer: Stuart has been on a killing spree ever since he discovered his fetish for patterns of dying people.
  • Slasher Smile: When excited, he smiles in the manner of a madman about to kill someone.

Tropes associated with Joker

  • Devious Daggers: He's carrying an endless supply of knives that he throws at the enemy as his normal attack instead of using them for backstabbing, unless he has some bullets in his gun.
  • Monster Clown: He's the most well-known fictional evil clown. Despite the presence of the jester-like Mganga, the Joker is still one of the most well-known jesters.
  • Token Evil Teammate: The Joker is the only DC character who is a supervillain.

Originally a daughter of a family in Free Federation. Teeri was born with a particularly unique pair of starry eyes and a peculiar ability to read people's minds. Despite the care from her siblings, her parents moved her to Okka Kingdom, where she lived a carefree life. Teeri later discovered from her new family that her old family literally sold her for money, which crushed her heart, but she didn't hold much animosity to her new family. It was under this time that the archangel of Veda, Lauriel, paid a visit and noticed Teeri's talents. She recruited Teeri to join Veda as a priestess, and then delegated her to accompany the Light Chasers group. Nowadays, Teeri cheerily performs several espionage duties to scout threats against the Light Chasers and Veda.

Teeri is an Archer hero who has a quite basic set of relentlessly tossing her twin rings to her enemies, but the those basic skills proved potent enough.

  • Her passive is Fos' Ring. If Teeri's skills or normal attacks (see below) hit multiple enemies 3 times, for a few seconds, her attacks will deal additional damage and her enhanced attacks does not reduce her stored attacks.
  • Her first skill is Comet Strike. Teeri launches five bullets that home on five targets, prioritizing heroes. The bullets deal damage and mark the targets, slowing them.
  • Her second skill is Piercing Heart. Teeri enhances several of her next attacks, causing them to have increased range and pierces through the target before going back to her as a boomerang. If it hits multiple enemies, the cooldown of this skill is reduced. If the target has been marked with Comet Strike, the mark will be transmitted to the extra enemies hit. During activation, Teeri gains temporary near-double movement boost, which decays over time.
  • Her ultimate is Glowing Redemption. Teeri launches an oversized version of her rings which travels across the map until it hits a hero or the edge of the map, then it goes back to her like a boomerang. If it hits a hero, aside of dealing damage, the rings travel a bit further before going back (as long as it doesn't hit another hero on the extra travel distance). Heroes hit will be revealed and those who are hit the second and onwards will receive extra damage that scales with their lost HP (starts at 5% of lost HP, tops at 15%).

  • Boring, but Practical: When compared to the other recent archers with more unique gimmicks, Teeri's kit can be a little underwhelming and basic, which is the source of complains from her detractors. However, those underwhelming and basic skills are still hellishly effective and makes her a solid marksman capable of wiping out enemy teams when she's fed and put herself in proper position.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: She actually appears first in the manga, taking orders from Lauriel, before she was announced as a full-fledged hero.
  • Genki Girl: She's cheery and personable, serving as a secondary mood-maker with Laville. At least the mood-making that's not about skirt-chasing.
  • The Heart: Serves as some sort of 'moral center' amongst the Light Chasers, since she's a mind-reader and can deal with the teammates' issues, such as Rouie's shyness or Zata's edgelord-ness (she won't say anything about Laville's skirt-chasing).
  • Hero-Worshipper: She absolutely adores Lauriel, who took her under her wings and treated her with great care. Additionally, her mind-reading abilities deduce that Lauriel has the most beautiful color about her mind.
  • Little Miss Badass: She looks like a preteen girl, but she's still a full-fledged hero and a deadly marksman with her throwing chakram rings.
  • The Pollyanna: Learning on how she was literally sold by her original family brought her to tears... for about a short time anyway. Afterwards, she resumes being happy and good with her new family, and even moreso with Lauriel.
  • Precision-Guided Boomerang: Her gimmick is that a majority of her skills makes her look like throwing boomerangs with her rings. And they always return to her without fail.
  • Rings of Death: Her weapon is the Fos' Ring, twin rings that can be thrown like chakrams.
  • Telepathy: She's born with the unique ability to read minds and is able to distinguish the character because of it. She finds Lauriel's mind the most beautiful, but some like Ilumia tends to be 'unreadable' for her.

Tel'Annas is the Forest of Shadows' queen of the Elves, as well as the leader of the Afata Alliance. After showing promise as an archer to her father, Landirr, she was granted the Morning Star bow, which she used to defend Afata from the Lokheim invasion by Volkath. She felled him with a shot, but she was overcome by the power of darkness (and a curse from the broken Soul Lamp by Eland'orr's antics) so that she was forced to put herself into a deep slumber. She woke up in time to defend Athanor from the second Lokheim invasion, but heard that Volkath may be returning, so she secludes herself in Afata, preparing herself for the next storm…

Tel'Annas is a pure Archer hero, positioning herself in the backline and shooting down her enemies dead with deadly marksmanship.
  • Her passive is The Morning Star. Tel'Annas naturally gets bonus attack power.
  • Her first skill is Eagle Eye. Tel'Annas temporarily gains increased attack range with the addition of bonus attack power and speed.
  • Her second skill is Penetrating Shot. Tel'Annas shoots three arrows that damage anyone in its path. If they hit an enemy hero, the hero will be slowed while Tel'Annas gains movement speed.
  • Her Ultimate is Arrow of Chaos. Tel'Annas charges a bit and shoots out a long-range arrow that damages and stuns everyone in its narrow path. If she hits Volkath with it, it instead deals true damage. If the ultimate is somehow interrupted, the cooldown is reduced to a mere 3 seconds.

  • Arch-Enemy: Volkath is one of her most dangerous adversaries (thankfully, she was able to seal him during the first invasion).Tel'Annas gains true damage when using her ult if she manages to hit Volkath with it.
  • The Ageless: Tel'Annas does not age at all.She puts herself into slumber, wakes up a thousand years later, and she's still the same lady.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: Tel'Annas is notorious for having absolutely no reliable escape method, instead focusing on pure attack. She can wreak havoc if allowed to farm and gain her items, but if she's focused in a bad place, she almost has no means to escape.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Her arrow is imbued with the power of darkness, but Tel'Annas is a virtuous queen and has quotes to assure you that her darkness is nothing to fear.
  • Divergent Character Evolution: While most people believe that Tel'Annas is a port of Jia Luo, she has her own quirks to differentiate herself. For instance, her range-increase skill is temporary but doesn't consume mana beyond the initiation phase. Also, her long pierce skillshot is her ultimate instead of her normal skills.
  • Dreadful Musician: Apparently, she’s also a horrible singer. Even some of her Afata subordinates (like Aya) sing better than her!
  • Former Teen Rebel: Tel'Annas used to be a wild, rebellious child when she was young and learning to be a queen, stressing her father. Eventually, she wised up and now she displays wisdom and dignity in her mannerisms.
  • The High Queen: Tel'Annas is the queen of Elves, a wise and good one at that. She forms genuine friendships with other members of the Afata. Arum, Krixi, and Lindis are genuinely loyal to her, and even ancient beings like Baldum respect her enough. She also did her best to lessen Eland'orr's punishment from eternal imprisonment, giving him a much needed Redemption Quest.
  • Magikarp Power: Pretty much the quintessential carry. She's extremely vulnerable at the beginning of the game, but if allowed to farm and gain her items, Tel'Annas can single-handedly turn a losing match into her team's victory.
  • Might Makes Right: Mentioned in one of her quotes, "Might is right", but this is actually an aversion due to a mistranslation: Tel'Annas is actually much more responsible about handling her own might (unlike Lorion, being infected with the Dark Andura Stone that comes with Volkath's defeat does nothing to Tel'Annas dark side, she just curbs down her darker desires). The Japanese version of said quote actually shows why it's a mistranslation: Tel'Annas actually says that power alone holds no weight; it's up to the user to make the power right or wrong.
  • Ms. Fanservice: A skin-baring, tough elven queen with pretty, long white hair? Yeah, Tel'Annas is one gorgeous queen. The only dent in her beauty is her corrupted arm, but even then, she's later given a model update, so her corrupted arm now looks more like a convenient glove.
  • The Right Hand of Doom: Downplayed. Her left arm is corrupted by Volkath; it's a lot more blatant in her old design. However, in her newer design, the corruption seems to have been subdued so that it looks like an asymmetrical glove that Tel'Annas wore. In both cases, they're not making her left arm look overly big, but it still sticks out.
  • Stripperiffic: Her clothes show a copious amount of skin, including a Cleavage Window that shows a very noticeable pair of breasts.

Deputy Commander of the Demon Hunter squad under the Valiant Order of the Norman Kingdom, who took over the position after its former commander, Violet, resigned to become a mercenary. Valhein is young, optimistic, and fearless in the face of danger, but beneath his bravado lies an enormous willpower and dedication to defeating Athanor's demons.

Valhein is an Archer hero who specializes in unloading a huge amount of damage with his set of skills before letting his highly damaging normal attacks finish the job.
  • His passive is Pocket Glaive. Valhein modifies every third attack he launches. If he throws any of these, he gets a Hunter buff, which increases his movement speed. This buff can be stacked up to four times. Throwing any of these special buffs (or activating any of his normal skills) will give him a Hunter stack. When he gets 4 stacks, for a period of time, Valhein increases his attack speed and will always throw a random Pocket Glaive in his attack instead of having to wait for 3 attacks and the time period is reset everytime he throws any glaive. There are three types of Pocket Glaives that Valhein can throw, represented by their colors:
    • Blue grants him additional mana recovery and cooldown reduction.
    • Red deals splash damage
    • Yellow stuns the enemy.
  • His first ability is Bloody Hunt. Valhein manually throws a red-colored Pocket Glaive, which deals more damage than when it's thrown as his passive. He gets an additional Hunter buff for casting it.
  • His second ability is Curse of Death. Valhein manually throws a yellow-colored Pocket Glaive, which deals more damage than when it's thrown as his passive. He gets an additional Hunter buff for casting it.
  • His ultimate is Bullet Storm. Valhein draws his gun and shoots in six directions forward. If a hero is hit with multiple bullets, additional bullets after the first will deal more damage. If he manages to hit someone with it, he immediately maxes out his Hunter stack meter.

  • Alpha Strike: All of Valhein's skills are about dealing direct damage to the enemy. There are little squishy heroes that can withstand the moment Valhein goes for the kill and unloads all of his available skills.
  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: Well, when all Valhein has are damage-dealing skills... Further enforced with his 2023 patch: If his hunter stack meter is maxed, then every of Valhein's normal attacks becomes the enhanced version, so he's encouraged to just spam his normal attacks.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Valhein is a bit too cheery to be the leader of the Demon Hunters. But it was his skills that earned him the place, and sometimes his quotes reflect this, going from "Oh man, that's the stuff!" to "Pick your battles... wisely."
  • Expy: Nowadays, averted with Valhein's own story. Before he got those updates, though... Valhein's lore was about losing his wife and dedicating his life to hunting down a certain Vampire Lord like a certain man named Van Helsing.
  • Demon Slaying: He's part of the Demon Hunters. Hunting demons is always a part of his job.
  • Not the Intended Use: In several servers and until the April 2023 patch, it's an unorthodox manner to build up Valhein as a Mage Marksman, buying magic items to boost his skill damages since that's what his skillset is all about. Not only may it catch the enemy off guard for those expecting him to launch normal attacks, but Valhein can take out a big chunk of HP in one go if his skills hit. AP Valhein used to be a thing until the aforementioned patch made Valhein unable to deal magical damage with his skills, forcing him to rely on physical damage again.
  • Random Number God: There is no telling which glaive will come out of the Pocket Glaive. Hope a yellow one is ready when you're about to kill someone!
  • Skill Gate Characters: Newbies often depend on Valhein as a tutorial hero. Experts can also use their skills to a greater extent, like taking advantage of the Pocket Glaive to potentially stun-lock the enemy. His 'newbie hero' status and Alpha Strike play style tend to get him mocked, but expert players can also take advantage of how he's often underestimated to become a surprising threat.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Valhein respects Violet as a fellow Demon Hunter, but they argue a lot. Especially if Violet gets caught in a debt.

Honor of Kings counterpart: Sun Shang Xiang/Lady Sun

Violet is a seemingly normal girl living in a border town adept at combat, having run away from home at the age of 10 and was discovered by a Royal Military Academy instructor. Quickly showing an adept nature with guns and firearms, she became known as a prodigy. At the age of 17, she single-handedly defeated a horde of demons from the abyss during a field trip. She became friends with Valhein, and together they joined the Demon Hunters corps. However, Violet's career ended when she was accused of insubordination during an investigation into corruption. She became a mercenary afterwards, but kept in good contact with the Demon Hunters thanks to choosing Valhein as her successor. She's also one of the main protagonists of the official manga Light & Shadow where much of her mysterious nature and the source of her combat talent is explored.

Violet is an agile Archer hero who specializes in mobile side-stepping and poking the enemy until even her pokes prove deadly.

  • Her passive is Reload. If Violet hits an enemy hero with a normal attack, she reduces the cooldown of her first skill.
  • Her first skill is Tactical Fire. Violet does a combat roll in a direction, and for the time being, her next normal attack is enhanced, gaining range and attack power. If there is a target nearby after she rolls, Violet also gains temporary movement speed.
  • Her second skill is Fire in the Hole. Violet throws a grenade that deals damage to an area and slows enemies caught in it.
  • Her ultimate skill is Concussive Rounds. Violet pulls off a rocket launcher and shoots a round that deals damage to the one hit and those behind them, dealing more damage if they have lost HP.

  • Breakout Character: At first, Violet seemed like just another character, and it would seem that the poster hero of the game is either Butterfly or Valhein. Without even achieving those, eventually Violet surpassed them in popularity, having the most skins amongst all heroes and still counting (She's also the first to receive a crossover skin with her Honor of Kings counterpart). And she's one of the main characters in the official manga.
  • Demon Slaying: She used to be a demon hunter like Valhein, and Richter is basically her upperclassman/senpai.
  • Fragile Speedster: Violet's mobility is extraordinary, with possibly only Hayate beating her in that department, and sometimes even with her buffs, she can't deal with sudden burst damage. She is, however, pretty good at hit and run tactics, and she can circle around and outrun her enemies well.
  • Guns Akimbo: Generally she's defaulting with two pistols, hence her title being 'Pistol Assassin'. Still, she actually has more guns in her storage.
  • Hammerspace: Where did she keep all those extra firearms she used aside from her guns? For the record, her guns aren't the transforming type.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: Violet met Butterfly and eventually, they became close as sisters.
  • Tomboy: Violet definitely isn't your girly girl, considering her short hair and her greater aptitude for firearms rather than for girly activities.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Violet tends to argue with her demon-hunting pal Valhein. But she still respects him and even named him successor.

Honor of Kings counterparts:
[Moveset] Luban no. 7
[Crossover skin] Hou Yi/Solarus

Yorn is the leader of Veda's mortal Holy Knights squadron. He was recruited during a call-to-arms by Ilumia after the first Lokheim invasion, where Tel'Annas drove Volkath away. Despite his sick body, Yorn was eager to enlist, and he miraculously passed the test, becoming one of the star archers of Veda with a bow imbued with the power of the sun granted by Ilumia herself. He was trained by Jinna, who deduced Yorn's destiny as a great archer based on how he somehow was a fanboy of Tel'Annas and saw some of her archery skills within Yorn's talents even without their meeting, and Yorn would forever feel indebted to him. Despite being mortal on his own, the Veda highly trusts Yorn, and he is a fervent believer that will raise his bow against the encroaching darkness without fail.

Yorn is one of the most basic yet efficient Archer heroes who rains down rapid fire arrows with impunity and several powerful single arrows in order to make his enemies fall.

  • His passive is Fierce Shot. Yorn builds up a stack every time he attacks, and after 5 stacks, his next normal attack becomes a rapid fire shot that strikes the enemy multiple times and takes a small percentage of HP with each hit, in addition to normal damage. Non-hero units take more damage. This passive is filled up automatically every time Yorn uses a skill.
  • His first skill is Explosive Arrow. Yorn shoots an arrow into the sky that falls down and explodes in an area, damaging and slowing those caught in the area.
  • His second skill is Hundred Barrage. Yorn fires a powerful arrow that travels globally until it hits an enemy hero, at which point it damages, stuns, and knocks back everyone in the area, including creeps. The damage also scales with the enemy's lost HP.
  • His ultimate is Heavenly Arrow. Yorn summons a slowly moving circle forward. As the circle moves, arrows rain down on random enemies that get into range, dealing damage.

  • Badass Abnormal: Yorn is the only mortal from the Veda faction, and he's just that good at archery. Then Ilumia gave him a sun-powered bow...
  • Composite Character: While his kit functions like Luban no. 7, Yorn is thematically designed with "Sun Archer" in mind, like Hou Yi. This is why Yorn's first skill visually looks like Hou Yi's second skill (unlike Luban no. 7 who throws a grenade, they both function the same anyway), and how his crossover skin is with Hou Yi.
  • Hunk: A mix of this and Pretty Boy. Yorn is known as one of the most handsome boys in the cast, and while he's now covered in armor, his old model showed that he doesn't just have a pretty face, his body is ripped too.
  • Light Is Good: He wields light power and is the leader of the Veda Holy Knights. Yorn is still a good guy dedicated to justice when compared to the seedier parts of Veda (including the one who gave him his bow).
  • Mr. Fanservice: Hands down, one of the most attractive human males in the cast, with a pretty face and a muscular body to go with it (although he covered up the latter eventually).
  • Noodle Incident: One of his daily quests for justice led him to get into a trap designed by Aleister where he's supposedly unable to escape for eternity. Yorn gets out of that after some effort and goes on with his daily duties like usual.
  • The Power of the Sun: His arrow calls forth the sun's powers. That may be why he has several options for Rain of Arrows.
  • Rain of Arrows: His ultimate essentially summons a random heaven arrow rainy season. His first skill also kind of counts in a big-ass drop of rain way.
  • Skill Gate Characters: The second after Tel'Annas when it comes to archery. The game usually hands down several heroes for free after a while of registering and playing, and Yorn is usually available from there. He's a good choice for learning what it means to stay away from the frontline, farm, and pelt your enemies with arrows of death.
  • Tamer and Chaster: He's half-naked in his older design. One remodel later, he's now wearing a white armor vest.
