Awesome / The Autobiography of Jane Eyre

Go To

  • Jane's interest and talent in filming is showcased in episode 8. It is very interesting to watch her.
  • Jane answering defiantly to Mr Rochester's increasingly intrusive questions (episode 12).
  • Episode 13 "Crash" is simply made of win. Perfect gloomy atmosphere with freaky and spooky camera effects (in-universe, they are glitches on Jane's old camera), dark greenish lightning, weird shadows and strange noises; the mysterious accident, worried and confused Jane and Mr Rochester, injured, visibly smitten with Jane but not forthcoming, and grateful for her gentle care. Full of Unresolved Sexual Tension, understandably because he's her older boss with a kid. It's very Gothic and very Brontë-esque, but properly modernized. Kudos to authors. It was very well scripted, well directed and excellently performed.
  • Episode 16 is a great adaptation of the events from the book. In the book, Jane asked about Miss Ingram and Mrs Fairfax depicted her as perfect in intelligence, accomplishments and looks. Jane then draws pictures of herself and Blanche as comparison and reminder that she can't be even compared to her. Here, Jane Googled her, and found Blanche's webpage (the design and the contents of the page are pure awesomeness as well)... Blanche is a gorgeous woman, a model, a trained dancer, a Harvard graduate, fluent in eight languages, provides scholarship to innovative women, she has her own company, she does PR for Thornfield Exports, hangs out with celebrities, appeared on the vampire show... Could she be any more perfect? Poor Jane is sad and she feels jealousy lurking, though the sad kind of jealousy; the one a person feels when they think their love interest doesn't even notice them.
  • The girl in episode "Charades" that was miming One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. That was quite a performance, and the people at the party are dummies and drunkards for not guessing it. Pity Jane didn't mention her tip what the clue was.
  • New episodes are posted every Wednesday as Jane's updates her vlog. Jane posted a brief video with Drama Bomb titled "I think I'm fired" on Saturday, bringing excellent immediacy to the narrative, because it was the morning right after Thornfield's Re-branding Event which was held on Friday night. Jane is very distressed and thinks she has lost her job. She cannot even explain herself and only links to the Thornfield official video, which is PURE AWESOMESAUCE. It has several Continuity Nods to the vlog and several fantastic parallels with the novel. The atmosphere of the party feels great and very realistic. It also shows Mr Rochester's jerkish behaviour and his troubled side, as fits the canon. EPIC.
