Awesome / Soul Eater

Go To

All of the characters seem to be getting theirs one by one (some of the main ones several). Here's what we got so far.

Maka & Soul

  • The first episode has, by far the coolest line in anime during the "fight" between Maka and Soul.
Maka: Well what reason do men have for cheating?! It's not fair!
Soul: How am I supposed to know? I can't answer that. After all, cool guys don't cheat on their partners, do they? [cue his blade around Blair's throat]
  • Soul saving Maka from a lethal blow by taking it himself...and surviving, albeit barely. Later, he snaps viciously at the little demon inside his soul, making the usually dominant bugger back off momentarily before trying another tactic.
  • When Maka willingly makes herself go insane in order to beat Crona into submission, she stops Crona's sword with her arm, then proceeds to grin maliciously and then swing Soul (in scythe form) around to send her opponent flying. She continues to whale on her opponent despite getting injured.
    • Hell, even before that when the fight starts and Maka remembers that slicing them won't work due to the black blood. Her response? JUST FUCKING PUNCH THEM. For about two minutes, she does NOTHING but just beat the everliving snot out of the kid with her fists and feet, and IT IS AWESOME.
  • Episode 24/chapter 22 when the Kishin busts through the roof, Maka comes speeding in at the last second and grabs on to one of the Kishin's...trailing skin...while using scythe soul to atempt to slow him down, refusing to let go even when rocks from the tunnel shower down on her, all the way to the surface.
  • During the anime, when they go to rescue Crona and Stien, Medusa gets Maka pissed. When Maka gets ready to attack, not only does Marie inform her that attacking Medusa would only harm the girl whose body Medusa is possessing, but Medusa claims she can't hurt her because of the deal with the academy. Maka's response?
Maka: Those things...who gives a damn?!
    • The fact that Maka's response to anyone telling her that something is impossible or why it outright shouldn't be done is generally to run out of fucks to give counts in and of itself.
Asura: Madness will be born anew with all kinds of reasons! It's useless, I tell you!!!'"
Maka: All those things..... WHO GIVES A DAMN?!?!
  • Maka and Soul perform a double-whammy of awesome in chapter 59 As Arachane spreads her insanity wavelength across the battlefield Soul figures out how to use her own trick against her by using her network of webs to deliver Maka's anti-demon wavelength to the fighters and Arachane forcing her to return to a physical body. Maka finishes the onslaught of awesome by resonating with Soul, saying her classic line: "I'll take your soul", while changing into a dress actually made of black blood, which adds to her defense, and is also the one she wore when she entered the Little Devil's Musical Room inside Soul's... soul. Finally, in the next chapter, when Arachne shouts that Maka is stupid for thinking courage alone will give her enough power to defeat her, Maka simply says "I'm stronger than you. Take that." and proceeds to cut her in half, thus owning a witch's soul
  • In the final episode of Soul Eater, (Anime Exclusive, so far) Maka snaps during the battle against the Kishin and her body takes over while she's unconscious...by using her Weapons blood. Maka sprouts and retracts awesome scythe-blades from various parts of the body and beats Kishin's face in until he realizes what's up and snaps her out of it.
    • Wait wait wait wait. You left out the best part. He "snaps her out of it" by plunging his hand dagger-style halfway into her chest. Maka comes to and lets out a ten-second long scream of pure agony! This is less a CMOA for Maka than it is for her voice actress.
      • Maka triggering, through her sheer determination, Asura to go through a COMPLETE breakdown, where he completely loses his cool exterior and panics, all with cut-ins of this thoughts, mostly of the word "fear" repeated. It gets to the point where he vomits out Vajra leading to...
      • Even better is when, at the end of the episode with a "Fist full of Courage" she runs up, past all of Kishin's attacks, only to deliver a Megaton Punch to his face. He chuckles about how this did nothing, only for his ENTIRE HEAD to crack, before he explodes.
Asura: What is this...?! You just punched me. Your fist isn't a weapon, it's nothing special!
Maka: Exactly... bravery's not special. But that means... everybody has it.
Asura: Everybody, huh? Then it's just like madness.
      • This all the while Awesome Music Psychedelic Souljam is blasting in the background.
  • In chapter 64, Maka gives up the cute, little angel wings she had Soul transform into, for the much more badass wings.
  • Soul, in an attempt to protect his meister from Giriko, and Maka's own Book-heightened apathy, fights the psychotic chainsaw on his own and...is not dead/incapacitated yet in ch75. Even when he gets cut across the chest again. Seems he's taken Maka's sense of courage to heart.
  • Chapter 111. Maka and Soul power up to a piano-key equiped blade...and unleash KISHIN. HUNTER.
  • Chapter 112: They use Kishin Hunter to enter Asura's soul to find Crona. Soul uses his music in an extension of Chain Resonance to give them a path back. The souls of the others form the 'notes', so no Maka-only 'fist of courage' this time. When they escape, Maka's black dress has turned white.

Black☆Star & Tsubaki

  • Every. Single. Fucking. Time Black Star actually follows up on his ego, each more audacious than the last.
  • Black☆Star knows how to attack directly with with soul wave length, something people like STEIN and DEATH who are older than him and have huge souls that don't need weapon to amplify.
  • Tsubaki's crowning moment was when she managed to escape from being absorbed by her brother, only to absorb him.
  • For me it was this line.
"Even a scentless flower has a fragrance!"
    • Context: Masamune has just verbally (and physically) beaten down his sister Tsubaki, calling her an Extreme Doormat, comparing her to a camellia flower (whose Japanese name is tsubaki), which blooms, but has no scent, which Masamune sees as worthless. Tsubaki's kind and accepting nature finally cracks as she shouts the above line in an awesome Shut Up, Hannibal! moment before tearing him apart with sheer willpower.
  • When Tsubaki is fighting Masamune and the villagers start beating Black Star with a club, he just stood there waiting for Tsubaki with the same expression on his face.
    • It's incredible. Black☆Star, largest ham on the planet, is sitting quietly, ignoring an entire village of people who hate him and his family as they beat the crap out of him, so he can give Tsubaki his complete and undivided attention. He only moves once: to warn off a brat who briefly considers attacking Tsubaki's prone form.
  • Black☆Star: Take your pick. His battles with Mifune, the attacks on Asura, his fight with a madness possessed Death the Kid, etc.
  • Black☆Star has had several but a notable one is his reappearance. After being in Japan as a break to prevent himself from going down the same path as his father, he arrives at Arachne's lair in a fashion best suited to him; tearing down the thick forest with berserker speed (ignoring orders not to move in), tripping all the sensors used to detect enemies. This distracts all the guards, allowing his commrades to move forward. Not only that, but he begins to fight with Mifune for the third time, revealing several new forms of Tsubaki in katana mode. The second form (technically the third one) allows him to move fast enough that he leaves behind several afterimages with actual mass.
    • The end to that fight counts as one as well. When Mifune recognizes Black☆Star as a true warrior and drops his Flood Line skill so as to only use one sword against him. Black☆Star then tells Tsubaki to change the weight of the Uncanny Sword to that of a regular katana while getting rid of the shadow scarf to fight Mifune on equal ground. The fight result is a bloody and beautiful, and ends with Black☆Star slashing halfway through Mifune's chest and dying a true warrior's death.
  • Anime: Mifune slashes Black☆Star fatally. Scary thingies that are regretful warriors swallow him. He gets back up, in a golden beam of light no less, and in his Enchanted Sword realm, he does the most epic speech.
Black☆Star: I absolutely won't give up! When I lose is when I die! Until I myself accept that I've lost... then I haven't lost!
    • This scene has an equivalent in the manga: The Will of Nakatsukasa shows Black☆Star exactly what it means to be a demon. He shows him the souls of those who perished along the path of mastering the arts of war, and all their memories flow into him, and Black☆Star falls to his knees, with tears in his eyes, from what he's seen. And the Will of Nakatsukasa tells him that to become a demon means facing these emotions and devouring their souls.
Nakatsukasa: For all your arrogance and boasts, you are still a child. This is what real fear is. I see a boy so overcome by despair that the cannot even stand. To "transcend the gods" is not even a shadow of a dream for one such as you, boy.
Black☆Star: If it's fear, then I'll stand up to it! I'll never give up! But that people have been so defeated like this... that they've felt so much despair... I don't want to give in! Now listen here, deer asshole. You won't see me crying. These tears are from the ones who died in misery and disappointment. From the regrets of souls who fell in battle, searching for the true warrior's path. And if it means lifting their regrets, then I'm happy to take it all on myself. The path I choose ain't the path of a demon who kills the living. It's the path of a warrior who brings the dead back to life!
  • For me, it was when Black☆Star was able to snap Kid out of his Face–Heel Turn and make it through all seven chapters of the Book of Eibon
  • Also Black☆Star vs Crona total Curb-Stomp Battle even with the help of the Mizune sisters and Eruka lobbing bombs at them.
  • The most recent chapter has Black☆Star catching lasers with his bare hands, then throwing them back before pulling a Dynamic Entry on the clown army on the moon.
  • Chapter 108, He literally eats a Vajra blast and survives. And then spits it right back at Asura, creating a massive mushroom-cloud explosion and scaring/impressing the Kishin, who didn't know any human could possibly do that.
"I'm human! It doesn't mean I'm weaker than a god! Things aren't always as you think them to be!"
  • Chapter 111 involves Taking the Bullet for Maaka, and getting his arm broken. And maybe his spine. He stands up to keep fighting, anyway.

Death the Kid, Patty and Liz

  • I'm surprised his victory in his debut episode wasn't mentioned here yet! He completes his mission to destroy the cursed soul of a witch and kill a mummy who absorbed her by blasting it point blank with both his pistols in about a hundred shots, which eventually demolishes the entire pyramid... all because the mummy wasn't at all symmetrical!
    • And this is after he spent a few minutes letting it impale him multiple times and beat on him with a giant hammer, simply because it was symmetrical before it showed its real face.
    • The only thing that remained of the mummy? The little decoration on its forehead. In other words, the only thing about it that was symmetrical.
    • While all the while screaming "DISGUSTING DISGUSTING DISGUSTING!"
    • And the music that starts after he says,"YOU"RE DISGUSTINGLY HIDEOUS!" With Liz remarking,"It's all over now." Needless to say, the music just means that the mummy is going to get its ass kicked. [1]
  • Defeating Black☆Star, who's considered the strongest fighter, without even needing his weapons.
  • Most recent one was when he was getting owned by Mosquito's revitalized form, only to suddenly awaken to an inner power thanks to BREW. He gets up and looks over at his currently missing arm. Suddenly, the arm starts reattaching itself, and then Kidd starts fighting on par with Mosquito. Not only that, but one of his white hairlines becomes symmetrical, revealing that his obsession with symmetry is actually plot-relevant.
    • That, and that he didn't care about the symmetry the line created. It's well known that Kid's obsession with symmetry has a pretty damn hard grip on him, so the fact that he simply brushed it aside just makes him that more awesome.
Liz: Wait... Kid... One of the lines on your hair...
Death the Kid: You don't have to tell me. In any other situation, I'd be obsessing over it about now.
    • Also, soon after that; Mosquito (400 years ago form) attacks Kid by splitting into several small bat-like creatures. At first, it seems to work, but then Kid proceeds to blast every single one, all while reminding them that if they must fly, then they should line up and fly in an orderly manner.
  • I'm surprised that his stunt in episode 50 hasn't been mentioned. After being stabbed and apparently dead, he starts floating, all the lines in his hair connect, and Liz and Patty transform into GIANT cannons, blowing away the form the kishin gained from eating Arachne's soul. In one shot.
  • "I dreamed of a world where you did not exist. I'll enforce your death penalty, Noah."
    • And then he does. Parent's Seven Rays anyone?
  • Pretty much every time we're reminded that the quirky little guy is a god. An uncanny, unpredictable small god.
  • Kid gets taken to the witch's council to try and get them to help, it turns out to be a set up. Kid's Badass Boast that he could easily kill every witch at the council without any trouble is just nothing short of awesome. And this is without Liz and Patty, who were left behind at the DWMA.
    • Not just the Badass Boast, how well he handled that entire situation was awesome. The trial started with a mob of hostile witches dishing out million death sentences, but after a few pages of intimidation, proposal, confusing Kim joke and pleading, he walked out of the witch realm leaving behind a council of witches discussing the DWMA's request seriously. I would call that a diplomatic CMOA.
  • All three lines connected. Much awesomeness, and a refusal to get Drunk On Power ensued.
    • Kid has no intention of using the 'Madness of Order' to cancel out Asura's own madness, showing that he's learnt from the GOO in the Book of Eibon, and that he still has faith in his father and what he believed in. One wonders whether, had he ended up with that power at the start of the series, Kid would have gone ahead with it without thinking about the consequences.
  • Early in the series, Kid crosses paths with Crona onboard the Nidhogg. Crona begins talking about how they're afraid all the time and that they plan to gain absolute power so they won't have to be afraid of anything. Kid does not take kindly to this philosophy and handily annihilates the demon swordsman, forcing them into a retreat. If the sky hadn't been so ungodly beautiful, that day, Medusa's plan would've been completely wrecked.
Crona: If you get in my way, I'll kill you.
Kid: *Amused tone* Will you, now? Just try it.
    • Though, it could also count for Crona, since, as Kid commented, the barrage of blasts he unleashed on the swordsman had virtually no effect outside of being annoying.

Death

  • Lord Death in the old days, as well as his (short-lived) fight against the Kishin.
    • Doesn't even matter that he technically lost, that was a crowning moment of badass.
"You filthy unforgivable swine! That's it, I'M GOING TO SKIN YOU ALIVE AGAIN!"
    • Even though it's listed in the Funny moments, Free's seal spell was gone twenty minutes earlier than expected. The fact that Lord Death coincidentally became free not long after Asura got free may have meant he may have broke him and the DWMA out of pure willpower or rage.
  • Lord Death in Episode 47: Lord Death + All Demon Tools = Eye Poking Humongous Mecha
  • Reaper Chopping Chibi Medusa
    • Even when he presumably reacted like that only because Medusa was in a child's body, there's still the sense he was saying she's nothing more to him than a naughty child who's made a mess of things. And then there's how Lord Death and Spirit treat her afterwards...
  • Whenever he talks in his deep voice.
  • In a way, we have how Lord Death dealt with Asura. In that the one way of stopping his influence on humans completely would be for Death to counter his 'son's' 'Madness' with his own. Instead, and possibly in spite of his nature, he puts his faith in humans for centuries to find another way of dealing with the madness of his kind (and his fragment) and the various monsters in the human world. You have to wonder if there was a less...awkward away around it, but in his own way, Lord Death definitely thought humanity and life was worth protecting.
  • Death response to Medusa's Enemy Mine offer regarding Arachnaphobia. After he and Spirit are done joking about Medusa's 'cute' form, he ends up agreeing to all of the witch's terms. Except that he doesn't say anything about giving Brew to Kid, or that he sends Tezca and Enrique after the team to keep an eye on Medusa. Medusa actually backs off at the prospect of fighting another Death Scythe, and thus loses her chance to kill Maka. It's the closest anyone came to maneuvering Medusa, who had taken Death's silliness at face value.

Others

  • Blair is when she takes on the rest of the Mizune sisters and manages to land several powerful blows in cat form. The sisters then form one more humanoid woman in a skimpy outfit. Blair transforms into her human form. The new Mizune gropes Blair, and in response, Blair lifts Mizune's shirt. A cat (ha!) fight soon ensues. The onlooking fish salesman almost passes out from sheer pleasure. Later, she then single-handedly, through sheer cunning and wit, made Nizuheg press his own self-destruct button, without once transforming into a human.
    • Blair kicks yet more ass while in cat form.
    • Consider this, Maka and Soul were, when they first met Blair, already very experienced students and Blair still managed to school them throughout the entirety of the episode/chapter. They only beat her by tricks. That, right there, is a testament to Blair's badassery.
  • The entirity of Medusa's Magnificent Bastard plot.
    • Baba Yaga's Castle Chapter 15, where it's revealed just how much she has been playing everyone, namely setting the whole thing up, actually kidnapping Crona herself, all so she can steal her sister's body and kill Maka while she's at it. She fails the last part of the plan but everyone thing else worked perfectly. It's like she's going for the record in sheer manipulative bastardry.
  • Ox broke (yes, broke) his hair in order to try and get Kim to come to her senses. While it seems silly, the moment is a mix of this and heartwarming.
    • What makes this a Crowning Moment is that by doing so, he is literally ripping off parts of his soul to prove a point
  • Kilik, after waiting around in plain sight for a while, decides there's no point in trying to sneak past all the people guarding the tower he's aiming for, and so takes off his disguise. What does he say? "Surprise."
  • Ragnarok spends the first arc as The Dragon and the Body Horror and then seems to be permanently trapped as a muppet. He gets his CMOA when he refutes his new found status as comic relief by pulling off a Barehanded Blade Block against a Big Fucking Chainsaw and then knocking the baddie on his ass just by shouting at him.
  • Mifune, in episode 28 during his second battle with Black☆Star. Pretty much the entire battle, and flashbacks. They even changed the opening theme to the song that debuted in this battle, it was that hardcore. This leads up to further moments such as the later battle against Sid, Nygus and Yumi.
  • Stein owns Black☆Star without getting up from his chair.
  • For this trooper, Excalibur getting a permanent appearance, staring directly at the fight between Lord Death and Asura, giving Asura a lecture, and later expending the rest of the Anime owning the rest of the characters was not his Momentof Awesome, it was his Crowning Freaking Arc of Pure Awesome, bitch! All hail Excalibur! His legend began in the 12th century!
  • Kilik and Kim fighting the Black Clown. Especially considering that Kilik was teamed up with four weapons at once, when Kidd himself said that using two at once was incredibly difficult. And then he has them combine their powers into a Wave-Motion Gun.
  • Noah killing Mosquito mid-transformation and, better still, mid-sentence.
  • Stein and Spirit versus Medusa. In between the scientist and witch attacking each another, they chat about chaos, authority, and the entertaining prospects of hurting one another. While Spirit hangs around trying to keep an eye on Stein and they both restrain Medusa. The moment when Stein slices Medusa in two, and she 'wins' because it was Asura's freed soul that allowed him to do so is surely one of the most awesome events in the series. The anime makes it all the more so, thanks to the voice-actor's creepy, fantastic, laughter.
    Stein: "Medusa, consider yourself fired."
    • There's also the moment when Medusa says that Crona, the one she has been treating horrifically and intends to just throw away, is her own child. There is something immensely satisfying about seeing Spirit transform, grab Medusa by the neck, and call her a bitch. While this is arguably lessened by the fact he promptly bursts into tears because he can't understand how a parent could treat their child that way, he is also right.
  • Hiro. Being the only one in the series who can deal with every one of Excalibur's provisions is awesome.
  • Harvar's moments of combat pragmatism in the Baba Yaga arc. He gets rid of the Artifact soldier distracting Thunder and Fire by slicing it in two (to their distress, they are little kids). He solves the threat of a still-brainwashed Jackie by knocking her out. His earlier stabbing of Kim to protect Ox is less-than awesome due to its brutality, but it showed a kind of sense. Plus, his all-round stoicism averts the usual Personality Powers of one with Shock and Awe abilities.
    • What makes all this better is that his personality was firmly established in the same chapter he stabbed Kim. The fact he was able to overpower and actually stab a meister wielding a weapon without the help of his meister actually makes that moment pretty awesome.
  • "We were reckless". There's something awesome about the moment when, after opening episodes of crazy action and general light-hearted shounen-ness, Maka and Soul find themselves with no way out of the cathedral, or away from Crona (who kept telling them they were trapped) and just how far out of their depth they are. They didn't know what they were up against, and realising - along with the whole of Crona's debut - was the first indication of how the author likes to play.
  • Crona and Ragnarok splitting the Nidhogg and the Flying Dutchman into two perfect halves. And this was right after the Flying Dutchman called them "rookies." Even Kid was amazed.
  • After faking his own death, Tezca Tlipoca demonstrates to Justin that he's not just tougher than he looks, he's nigh-indestructible. Cut his reflection-clones to pieces? They'll just make a new body.
  • In chapter 87, where Crona completely destroys Medusa, and calls her out for being a horrible mother. Like a boss, Crona. Like a BOSS.
Crona: I don't want to hear gentle words...they annoy me. I don't know how to deal with them. I threw everything away because you told me to. I THREW EVERYTHING AWAY BECAUSE YOU TOLD ME TO! But that's unfair, mother, because I threw away the only one who really loves me...if you threw everything away, does that mean you threw me away, too!?
  • An anime only moment that should be mentioned. Crona and Marie arrive at Medusa's hideout, intent on confronting her. Medusa then attempts to kill Marie with large stone block, prompting Crona to dive under to save Marie. Medusa gloats, thinking she's killed both of them, before Crona reveals that they used their soul wavelength to shield them both. It is VERY satisfying to see the look of surprise on Medusa's face.
  • For a short lived character, Feodor got one of the best. By simply kicking Crona. In the face.
  • This AMV, set to the Marilyn Manson version of "This is Halloween" that beautifully showcases the show's mastery over macabre imagery. It's practically iconic in the AMV fandom.
    • Even more awesome? that AMV got nearly thirteen million views on YouTube! That's just wild!
  • Asura's scream after being broken out of a sack made from his own skin was a comic CMoA. At the end of the anime his comment on bravery was badass.
Asura: Everybody has it? So, it's just like madness, then.
  • Spirit's Big Damn Heroes moment in chapter 106. Firstly, he protects Maka by blocking/damaging Crona's black blood on his own, then has Maka act as his meister, sure of the fact that Crona's madness cannot break the bond between parent and child. No mucking around, just calmly badass when the others were getting unnerved.
  • Chapter 111. It should be retitled "Ensemble Badasses." Eruka's calculations allow Kilik to fire an Azusa Big Damn Heroes arrow at the Kishin... on the moon. Then Free teleports them away from retribution. Then Stein throws Marie at the Kishin on the moon. She misses by less than ten feet, then doubles back to hit him anyway. Did we mention that these people are not on the moon, nor have they been for several chapters? Instead of Ookubo having them continue standing around bemoaning not doing anything, they all get to do something. And it is awesome. And then we get more Big Damn Heroes—from everybody else on the moon. Even Gopher.
  • Ch 112 has one for Crona who, while trapped inside Asura's soul, reflects on the fear that they describe as the 'soul eater'. Crona thanks Maka for being the first person to really try to know them, but explains that the only way to end the threat of Asura is to trap him on the moon. So, Crona takes Brew from the Book of Eibon (which Maka had 'just grabbed' earlier on) and uses it to imprison Asura with the black blood.
  • Black Star and Kid get a joint one in 112 when they persist in attacking Asura, with Black*Star already injured from the previous chapter, to help Maka, Soul and Crona.
  • The first time Soul plays the piano in Maka, Kid, and Black*Star's fight against Mosquito. The haunting music plays, directing the three warriors while they absolutely destroy the top hat wearing gorilla.
  • While Arachne's schemes are overshadowed by Medusa, she did manage to pull a very clever trick when neither she nor DMWA got the Brew. She knew DMWA thought she had it, and she managed to win a number of battle against them simply by using the threat of her having the Brew. The only thing that put a stop to her plan was Medusa giving them the real thing.
  • Stein spent his debut appearance utterly schooling Maka and Black*Star without even bothering to leave the comfort of his swivel chair for the first half of the fight.
  • The music and [2] that plays in the anime whenever Asura uses his Beam or fires a Vajra laser. The moment you hear the chanting, you can tell the next few seconds will be awesome, and then it changes to a fast-paced drumbeat that practically tells you someone's getting vaporized.
  • Even though it's a minor moment, Crona punching Ragnarok for the first time in their life definitely counts. Double for the manga, where Ragnarok is still full-sized.
  • Oh, and speaking of Crona, their whole character development in the anime should be mentioned. Going from a seemingly total psycho, to the ultimate woobie, to becoming a stronger person and facing Medusa, the person who tormented them all their life is a hell of an achievement, character-wise.
  • Even while insane, manga Crona still had plenty of awesome moments. From destroying all Black Star's fused shadows (even though Black Star quickly gained the upper hand), to smothering a deathscythe, his meister and a whole city in their mad blood (messed up as it may be), to swatting Black Star aside easily later on, to holding their own against Maka and Black Star at the same time (even ripping out one of the moon's giant teeth), manga Crona oozed awesome crossed with nightmare fuel.
  • Then we have the badass samurai, Mifune who in his first appearance, killed 99 thugs by himself, offscreen, and would later go toe to toe with Black Star and Tsubaki or Sid, Nygus, and Azusa.
  • Another great anime moment would be the battle against Medusa and insane Stein. Epic is the word. The best part comes after Stein is brought back to his sanity and he proceeds to wield Marie and tag team Medusa alongside Maka and Soul. The awesomeness reaches it's crescendo when Maka cuts Medusa with majin-hunt. First, Medusa smugly thinks that she dodged the attack before getting a WTF face as she's exorcised from the possessed girl's body. She then brags that Maka's attack merely drove her out before Maka calmly states that it's over. Medusa's soul then SPLITS IN HALF before she fades away while uttering a last threat. Take that, cocky snake.
  • Just to clarify At the end of the manga, it's Crona's constant willpower that keeps Asura from breaking loose and killing everyone. Meaning that Crona is now spending every second of every day using heroic willpower to hold the god of fear and insanity in place. Offscreen awesomeness indeed.
  • Stein, on the Moon. Having willingly made himself insane. He literally blows a number of clowns (and White Rabbit while in the Airship) to smithereens with just his bare hands and Soul Force. And while everyone reacts to the clowns being able to infinitely regenerate with horror, he views it just as an unending supply of dolls to destroy. Did I mention he's viewing exploding clowns as presents full of stars?
    • And later in his battle with Justin. Justin doesn't even land a hit on him, despite an absurd number of traps. And then Stein and Marie literally explode Justin with as much power as they can.
  • Not from the show itself, but this ending theme has Maka go down in a battle with Giriko. Just as he's about to finish her off, Crona leaps in to save her.
