  • The card story of Cithria of Cloudfield. Introduced as a wet-behind-the-ears recruit, she is promoted to a squire in the Dauntless Vanguard, and eventually becomes a badass knight known as Cithria The Bold. A year later, and she shows up again with the Empire Of The Ascended expansion, grown further into the badass Raptor riding Cithria, Lady of Clouds.
  • Aurelion Sol. LoL Sol has a reputation for not matching his lore, being a very squishy AP caster with a rather weak ult. LoR Sol however is every bit the beast you'd expect a cosmic, star making dragon to be, having the highest level 1 stats of any champion at a whopping 10/10, and being the second-strongest champion in terms of raw stats alone (the only champion with higher stats is level 2 Nautilus at 13/13). Sol also comes with both the Fury note  and Spellshieldnote  keywords, and a powerful effect that adds a random Celestial card to your hand each turn, as well as when played. The kicker is Aurelion Sol’s levelled up effect: in addition to retaining the aforementioned effects, level 2 Sol makes all of the uber-powerful yet situational and expensive Celestial cards one can get through the Invoke keyword and Sol himself cost 0 mana. All of them. The real prize if if you manage to somehow obtain Living Legends while the upgraded Sol is on field - once cast, the spell fills your hand with random Celestial cards, that will all cost 0 mana and be ready to play immediately.
  • The Shurima reveal trailer finally delivers on something not seen in cinematic form: A proper throwdown between Nasus and Renekton.
  • Lissandra brings with her a frozen army. But more than that, when she levels up, she creates a Watcher in hand. The Watchers are ancient beings from The Void, and their return would herald The End of the World as We Know It for Runeterra. How is this translated to gameplay? First, with an impossible-to-reach 17 mana cost, you either have to activate its first effect to reduce its cost to 0, or perform some kind of summoning trick to be able to play one (such as with Spectral Matron). Your reward for managing to attack with a Watcher? The entire enemy deck, bar 4 non-champion cards, is obliterated. It's not a skill that goes on the stack, it's just something that occurs the moment the Watcher is able to attack.
  • If you play a Shuriman Sun-disk deck and play your cards right, you are treated to more than a solid minute of levelup animations, Transformation Sequences, Pre-Asskicking One-Liners, Roars and Badass Boasts. It's not uncommon for the opponent to quit as soon as it comes to an end, earning you a Victory Through Intimidation... in a card game.
Nasus: The expanse of eternity, stretched out before me. / Golden and gleaming, Shurima is reborn!
Renekton: The fury within me cannot be contained! / The Butcher of the Sands will reign supreme!
Azir: Tell the people what you have seen today! / Power to shape the world at my fingertips!
Xerath: Unlimited power - mine to control! / Bear witness to the only true Ascended!
  • Despite numerous retcons in the parent game since his inception, despite his origins, motivations, and species all having changed, and despite jumping games, one thing about Jax has stayed consistent: It doesn't matter who or what you are - He can absolutely kick your ass with nothing but a lamppost.
Jax: A thousand years of battle and I'm just warming up!
