Considering the game centers on mages rising up in rebellion, led by the charismatic Sylas and his combat skills, it's little wonder The Mageseeker is full of moments to astound.

Per troping policy, all spoilers are unmarked. You Have Been Warned.

  • As though the League franchise hadn't reversed Garen's Badass Decay enough already, the opening fight against him is a Hopeless Boss Fight. Not long after Sylas had already beaten Garen, the Might of Demacia comes back and is practically invulnerable against a worn-out Sylas. Talk about being a Determinator.
  • Sylas bringing down the Giant's Helm when he raids a Mageseeker lab by using its own elemental weaknesses against it. Hesbeth may be a brilliant scientist, but even the best science is no match for simple Elemental Rock-Paper-Scissors.
  • The fight with Morgana is pure awesomeness as the Fallen shows what she can really do when not restricted by League's game mechanics. She covers the battlefield in dark magic, unleashing every ability she has by the dozen and thoroughly filling the screen with magical attacks like it's a Bullet Hell.
  • Sylas successfully manages to not only find Morgana, but to pass her physical test by winning a fight with her, though she's clearly unharmed after the fact.
  • Both times Rayn uses Sylas' nightmares to get into his head, Sylas manages to fight back and keep her from victory.
  • When Hesbeth turns Sylas' mentor into a raging monster, Sylas manages to Mercy Kill the poor man after a brutal fight. Sad, but Sylas' Unstoppable Rage afterwards is a sight to behold and his surviving the fight is impressive enough as it is.
  • When Sylas visits Lux's encampment, it's attacked by a Rattleclaw. Sylas and Lux put their differences aside to fight side by side against the beast, with Lux rooting it to the ground, giving Sylas shields, and unleashing her own magic. It culminates in the two forcing the beast back, at which point Lux unleashes Final Spark to punch right through the Rattleclaw's defenses and kill it.
  • The attack on Demacia's capital is nothing short of awesome:
    • All the mages organize and split off into a chaotic battle, leaving Sylas to One-Man Army his way right into the Demacian palace and kill Eldred, meaning Nothing Is the Same Anymore for Demacia or the Mageseekers. While the attack isn't ultimately successful due to Sylas' tunnel vision, it's amazing to watch the mages manage to finally really strike back against their oppressors.
    • During the attack on the capital, Garen chooses to take on Sylas in a fight that can only be described as the Best Boss Ever. Both of them are at the top of their game, Garen using every move at his disposal to keep Sylas from winning, summoning blades from the heavens and trying to slash the rogue mage to ribbons with his sword. Then, when Sylas seemingly has him beaten, he unleashes Demacian Justice and splits the arena in half, leaving the two to battle in the broken, flaming arena. Sylas can even rip Demacian Justice right from his clutches and unleash it back on Garen.
    • The sheer number of soldiers and Mageseekers Sylas takes on is incredible. Whereas everyone else is struggling to maintain their position, Sylas puts down everything in his path and rampages across the battlefield straight to the man he wants to kill, an embodiment of Tranquil Fury as he carves a path across the capital. Fights in this mission regularly include huge numbers of enemies that Sylas beats his way past and leaves behind, leaving a trail of bodies in his wake.
    • Sylas meets Jarvan IV and wastes no time in beating the hell out of the monarch that instigated the oppression of mages. Even better, Sylas is utterly winning the fight. Jarvan may be a formidable fighter, but he's clearly outmatched.
    • When Sylas has Jarvan on the ropes, Shyvana descends onto the battlefield to save her beloved. The two fight together against Sylas, who manages to take on the Battle Couple with impressive tenacity.
    • When Jarvan and Shyvana are finally beaten, Shyvana takes to the skies and takes her draconic form. Sylas is now forced to fight the massive dragon, who occasionally uses Jarvan as an Assist Character for herself. Most impressively, Sylas still wins this fight, managing to beat back both Jarvan and Shyvana and even having Jarvan in a perfect position to kill him. All this, after fighting through the capital's countless soldiers and Mageseekers and having also fought and beaten Garen earlier in that day. Determinator doesn't even begin to describe it.
    • Though the rebellion fails and seems to be captured, Leilani uses a spell she'd mentioned earlier to get everyone out at the cost of her own life, finally ending the battle of Demacia's capital.
  • The flashback of Kayle and Morgana defending a Demacia in its prime, a haven for mages and non-mages alike, is beautifully-animated and amazing to see. They truly come off as the mythical figures they are to the world of Runeterra.
  • Sylas speculates that Morgana has a weapon to destroy the Mageseekers. He's wrong. Morgana simply has a spell containing the truth about Demacia's past and the fact it was built as a place where mages and non-mages could live in peace, and hands it to him. The people of Demacia are already sympathetic to the mages. They just need to see the truth to finally spur them to action against the Mageseekers.
  • Sylas manages to reunite the rebellion and returns to the field with a mission to stop Wisteria from mass executions of mages, swooping in at the last second to save Rukko's brother and the other mages from certain death. Big Damn Heroes indeed, but it doesn't end there. Sylas presents the truth Morgana showed him to all of Demacia through the statues of the Protectors, which light up with their swords' flame as he does it. Sylas finally rallies all of Demacia against the Mageseekers.
  • The fight with Wisteria after stopping the executions is hard-fought but displays the mages' unity. For the first time in the game, other mages willingly present their elements for Sylas to take so he can fight Wisteria and the mages she summons. Then, once she's sufficiently beaten down, Wisteria undergoes a Painful Transformation and unleashes one of Kayle's wings! Sylas ends up in a fight for his life, but manages to defeat Wisteria and free the mages.
  • Sylas finally killing Hesbeth as the Mad Scientist begs for his life and tries to worm his way into switching sides. Brutal, but well-deserved after all he'd done.
  • Shyvana at last tells Jarvan IV off for his willingness to oppress mages and magical beings like her, and flies away. Jarvan gets the message, and realizes that he's been blinded by revenge before declaring that he'll be abolishing the Mageseekers. In other words, Shyvana makes Jarvan IV finally make a Heel–Face Turn.
  • The final battle against Wisteria and the Mageseekers is nothing short of astounding:
    • First, Lux comes to the rebellion's encampment and acknowledges that she needs Sylas' help. Sylas and the rebels freely offer it, creating an epic Enemy Mine to defend their people.
    • Sylas beats the hell out of every Mageseeker that threatens the encampment, fighting back against wave after wave of monster hybrids and Mageseekers to finally put an end to the threat to his people.
    • Garen and Jarvan IV intervene, pulling a Big Damn Heroes and finally opposing the out-of-control Mageseekers. The heroes of Demacia are, at last, heroes to the mages as well. Shyvana even returns for Jarvan, using her flames to annihilate the oncoming Mageseekers.
    • Sylas' allies dwindle, but not because they're dying; instead, they all choose to stay behind to hold off an enemy force and let Sylas get where he needs to go. In an Offscreen Moment of Awesome, they all win as well.
    • When Rayn tries to use her mental powers on Sylas, Sylas simply uses Heroic Willpower to avoid fighting her at all on his rush to Wisteria.
    • Sylas vs. Wisteria, the final round. Wisteria unleashes Kayle's wing, and Sylas fights her, weaving around her attacks and forcing himself past her defenses until they enter her memories, exposing her for the broken child she truly is. Then, Sylas takes her on at full power and still manages to not only survive but win. To cap the battle off, the player gets a recognizable prompt as Sylas figures out how to beat her using what he does best: Power Copying. Ripping the power of the Winged Sisters from her, Sylas channels Morgana's abilities to grow his own set of wings. The two have one final clash as they collide with the fury of Demacia's protectors, Sylas finally proving victorious.
  • After the game, Jarvan IV formally renounces any attempt at oppressing or persecuting the mages in Demacia's laws and even gives Lux's encampment sovereignty as its own colony.
  • Though the battle with the Mageseekers is over, Sylas chooses to keep fighting against Demacia because, as he notes, a proclamation like Jarvan's will be fought against and as long as Demacia is as it is, the mages will always be at risk of being in danger and it will always be Sylas' mission to defend his people. After he says this, Kara notes that she has potential allies in the north, and Sylas might like to visit them...
