Awesome / Code Geass: Paladins of Voltron

Go To

As is the case with all pages detailing Moments of Awesome, Spoilers Off

  • A perhaps understated one, but unlike the Paladins in Legendary Defender, the Student Council wins their first battle against the gladiator. True, most of them get defeated in seconds by the machine, but it says a lot that a team who had only four members experienced with combat defeated a machine that, in canon, defeated five people with full combat training.
  • Lelouch and Sendak's conversation in Tears of the Balmera. Not only is it a Call-Back to Lelouch's speech in the first episode of Code Geass, but unlike the Royal Guard, Sendak offers a rebuttal to Lelouch's statements. And, thanks to his cybernetic implants, he actually manages to fight off the Geass order to die.
Lelouch: Let me ask you something, Sendak. Are there any Galra out there that detest their own empire? If so, how exactly would they live their lives?
Sendak: They would spend what little remains of their lives in fear of the moment where I would inevitably find them. And when that happens, they'll be begging for death when I am done with them.
    [...]
Lelouch: What's wrong? Why not kill me? Your opponent is just a child. At least that's what Haxus thought before he died.
    [...]
Lelouch: Or perhaps you realize, that the only ones who should kill, are those who are prepared to be killed.
Sendak: I couldn't agree more. Victory or death is the way of the Galra!
  • Lelouch's speech as Zero at the end of Rebirth is full of this.
Zero: People of the Universe! Fear us or rally behind us as you see fit! We are the New Paladins of Voltron! We of the Paladins stand with all those who have no weapons to wield! Regardless of what planet or species they hail from! The Galra Empire cowardly attacked the inhabitants of Balmera X-95-Vox, and attempted to destroy the living creature itself! It was a wanton and meaningless act. Therefore they have been punished. Just as the Galra Commander Sendak was punished for endangering the populace of Planet Arus, we could not stand by and allow such cruelty to be carried out, and so we made him pay for his actions. We will not repudiate battle on a fair and level field, but neither will we tolerate a one-sided massacre of the weak by the strong! The only ones who should kill are those who are prepared to be killed! Wherever oppressors abuse their power by attacking those who are powerless, we shall appear again! No matter how mighty, how formidable our foe may be! Those of you with power, fear us! Those of you without it, rally behind us! We, the Paladins of Voltron, shall be the ones who stand in judgment of this universe!
  • The Paladins make their return to Earth in Chapter 23, and it becomes apparent why Voltron is feared by the Galra: they defeat the entire Britannian attack on Narita without breaking a sweat. Highlights include:
    • Rivalz using Polaris to freeze the majority of Darlton's squad.
    • Kallen using Aka to devastate the purists, including killing Kewell.
    • Suzaku going toe to toe with the Lancelot, while the latter is being piloted by a member of The Knights of the Round, and holding his own.
    • Lelouch completely trouncing Cornelia, in the process becoming the first person to ever defeat her in battle.
    • And of course, the finale: the Paladins unite to form Voltron and totally demolish the Britannian Army, following it up with Lelouch, once more appearing as Zero, delivering Britannia an ultimatum - surrender or be destroyed.
  • From Chapter 26:
    • The Paladins outmatch and destroy all of Cornelia's forces with ease...
      • Except for Nonette, who fights Suzaku to a standstill.
    • When it appears that Lelouch, Sayoko, and Nunnally are doomed, Lelouch mentally reaches out to the Black Lion for help, who rushes in for the rescue!
  • Chapter 28 has the rescue of C.C. from Mao, and here, it's a team effort instead of just Lelouch working on his own.
    • First off, Milly distracts Mao by using Rover to imitate Lelouch and keep Mao's attention on her.
    • Then Lelouch and Rai show up, alongside a police force.
    • And finally, as the duo leaves with the Code Bearer, they chide Mao for how small-minded he is - after all, if he'd used his powers to the fullest extent, he would've known that Zerith could turn invisible.
  • Shirley is the one to take out Mao for good in this universe.
  • Zenobia destroying the Thought Elevator on Kamine Island. V.V.'s Villainous Breakdown when he realizes his attempt to take Lelouch out of the picture threw an enormous wrench is his and Charles's plans is truly a sight to behold.
  • Rivalz managing to come up with a solution to the Space Knightmare project's energy issues all by himself.
  • Yoru and Zenobia keeping Nebiros from shooting Nunnally after he's already shot Euphemia.
  • The SAZ Massacre may be horrifying, but it still has plenty of awesome moments.
  • Unlike in the original series, the Black Rebellion has popular support from both the Japanese and Britannian civilians. It's clear that Voltron made an impression on the people of Earth and that many Britannians have had enough with the Emperor's shenanigans.
  • The Black Rebellion commences with the Castle of Lions scoring a One-Hit Kill on a Galra Battleship!
  • Nunnally standing up to V.V. when he's using his powers to torment Allura.
  • Viletta regaining her memories and stopping V.V. with a Boom, Headshot!.
  • Cornelia, Guilford, Nonette, and the Glaston Knights managing to best to Galra-enhanced Siegfried.
  • Tohdoh vs Corza. The fight ends in Corza’s favor, but a last-minute intervention by Sayoko and the Holy Swords gives Tohdoh the opening to kill the Galra commander.
  • Once again, Shirley is the one to defeat Mao, figuring out how to outsmart his Geass.
  • Lelouch is down, as are Sayoko and Cornelia. Seeing his sister in danger though, Lelouch forces himself up to face Zarkon. And then things get crazy.
    • For the first time in the series, Zenobia speaks
Zenobia: You are not helpless… We are not helpless. It is true we are no match when separate, but we are together. Let us stand, my Paladin, as one...
    • Newly invigorated by Zenobia, Lelouch stands up and tells Zarkon to get away from his sister.
    • When Zarkon turns to face Lelouch, the prince’s Geass is now active in both eyes.
    • Lelouch has also drawn his knife, except now, it is glowing. And when he finishes his declaration, Lelouch manages to awaken the blade!
    • Zarkon is so surprised by this that he doesn’t notice Lelouch striking him and rescuing Cornelia! It bears repeating, Lelouch managed to hit Zarkon without the latter even noticing!
    • As Lelouch, Cornelia, Sayoko, and Guilford flee in Zenobia, the remaining Paladins provide covering fire - they're not abandoning their friend, now or ever.
    • Credit to Zarkon for deciding to allow the Paladins to escape - he knows they will eventually come to liberate their homeworld, so he can afford to wait.
  • When Rai uses his Geass to wake C.C. up from what V.V. did to her, he sees what seems to be a memory of Lotor going apeshit on the people burning C.C. at the stake.
  • Lelouch vs Zarkon in the Astral Plane. That is all.
    • And that's before the rest of the Paladins, Allura, C.C., and even Nunnally pop in to aid him!
    • Nunnally surprises everyone by manifesting a barrier to block Zarkon's whip.
Nunnally: [smirking] I'm the sister of Zero, what did you expect?
      • Before all of this, Nunnally persuading everyone to let her help in aiding Lelouch; the resolve (and look) she displayed in front of everyone showed that she was indeed the sister of Lelouch and an heir of Britannia.
  • Allura revealing that she's working on moving past her prejudices after Lelouch reveals his suspicions that he's part-Galra. Considering everything that she's been through, she's come a long way in that department in a fairly short amount of time.
  • After the crushing defeat at Earth, the Voltron Coalition is able to secure a victory by liberating the planet Olkarion from the Galra.
    • The Coalition is able to locate the Olkari resistance, and discover that they had developed their own Knightmares made from wood.
    • Once they figure out how to use the Olkari headbands, Lloyd and Rakshata waste no time in mass producing wooden versions of the Lancelot and the Guren MKII. Doubles as a funny moment, as the two try to outpace each other during the production process.
    • Despite not having much combat experience as Knightmare pilots, the Olkari resistance is able to keep up with the Black Knights during the liberation of their planet.
  • Despite being one of the darkest chapters in the story, A Place to Belong has a few moments.
    • Akito manages to hold his own against the Glinda Knights, while under the influence of his brother’s Geass.
    • The Asura Strike Force successfully destroys a Britannia/Galra convoy, thanks to Akito’s timely arrival, forcing the Glinda Knights to fall back.
    • Doubles as Nightmare Fuel, but when Shin Hyūga Shaing joins the Knights of Round, he manages to make Luciano Bradley terrified of him when he tells him of how he does not value life.
    • Nina had hacked into the Galra Sentries to make them into her own personal army while holed up in Ashford Academy. She even jury rigged a Knightmare with the sentries’ hardware and software to make it act on its own.
