Common good colors

• Blue — The Hero or The Lancer (If The Hero wears Red)
• Red — The Hero or The Lancer (If The Hero wears Blue)
• Red and Blue Together — The Hero
• Natural greens — Nature Hero, Closer to Earth, The Big Guy, The Smart Guy, Sixth Ranger
• Pink — The token girl, The Heart, or possibly The Medic; also used for heroines especially in Magical Girl series due to pink being seen as a Distaff Counterpart of red or blue.
• Light Blue/Cyan — The Heart, Big Good or Kid-Appeal Character. Used as a feminine alternative to blue for heroines without having to rely on pink, yellow or white.
• Bright Purple — The Heart, since Graceful Ladies Like Purple, and another alternative heroine color. Very popular with witches and other Magical girls.
• Browns and other earthy tones — Nature Hero, Closer to Earth, The Mentor, Retired Badass; their use by villains is not unheard of but somewhat rare, and tends to denote a villain that relies on savagery and physical brutality over cunning.
• Gold — The Ace
• Yellow — Kid-Appeal Character, The Big Guy, or The Heart.
• Gray — Reasonable Authority Figure
• White and off-white — The Hero, Messianic Archetype, Big Good, White Magician Girl. Typically connotes to moral purity, innocence, wisdom, and the divine (especially when paired with gold).
• Black — Dark Is Not Evil at play here. The go-to color of rough around the edge good guys and antiheroes.

Common evil colors

• All white — A hint of madness, religious zealotry, or a religion that has gone wrong. Occasionally can also reflect flawles glamour or sterility, especially on The Man Behind the Man or other villains who do not like to get their hands (or clothes) dirty (see Villain in a White Suit). Also, due to Asian cultures associating white with death as mentioned above, characters who dress all or mostly in white or have white hair are often strongly associated with death, the supernatural, etc.
• Off-white — A jackass. Always takes the form of an ugly suit (or, if really bad, tuxedo), as it was fashionable for a time in social groups usually perceived as obnoxious, which is also when the trope is most often invoked, although guidos and arsim are sometimes dressed in particularly egregious examples in modern media.
• Blood Red — Ax-Crazy, Omnicidal Maniac
• Yellow — Madness, Dirty Coward and The Dreaded
• Navy Blue — a favorite of evil chessmasters and Aristocrats.
• Unnatural Greens — the villain employs toxic materials in his schemes.
• Silver — Rich Bitch, indicates wealth and arrogance.
• Gold — Man of Wealth and Taste, with similar indications.
• Purple/Violet — Evil bitches and villainesses. Popular in Japanese media; the official color of videogame evil; really popular for comic book villains and nefarious aliens, particularly in combination with green. It is also often associated with venom. As it is also the ancient color for royalty, tying it in with Aristocrats.
• Purple and Green - The Villain
• Black — Card-Carrying Villain, in recent times anyway.
• Grey — Grayscale of Evil, soul-less, ego-extinct, card-carrying sociopathic monsters. Also popular for Mooks. ^note  in Harry Harrison's work, the Grey Men are a race of cold emotionless mind-manipulators, all humanity and feeling having drained out of them.
• Pastels — The preferred color palette of preppy Alpha Bitches, Smug Snakes and sugary sweet folks with dark secrets.

Common neutral/transition colors (also see Reformed, but Not Tamed):

• Black — Anti-Hero, Knight in Sour Armor, badass, a Dark Is Not Evil character (black also goes with every other color)
• Black and Red — The undisputed colors of Bad-Assery; also common for Gothic characters.
• Black and Blue — also not unusual for a Goth, particularly one who isn't perky by nature.
• Black and White in equal amounts (see also: referees)
• Light Gray (black + white) — neutrals, transitions
• Purple (blue + red) — royalty, wealth and command; this now often overlaps with Purple Is Powerful. (See also Purple Is the New Black.)
• Orange (red + yellow)
• Green — used equally for neutrals and allied but not under your control

• Garish Pale Yellow Green: denotes radioactive, nuclear waste; unsettling and denotes an unsettling tone; used in horror stories
• Natural Pale Yellow Green: springlike and denoting the season spring; denotes Easter Sunday; pleasant
