* In the ''Series/RedDwarf XII'' episode "Timewave", Rimmer cites a Space Corps Directive then adds "Shut up, Kryten" without pausing for breath, in reference to the old RunningGag of Kryten quoting the directives he cited and revealing them to be entirely irrelevant because he'd got the numbers mixed up.

** Dorothy would also occasionally use food to help keep Sophia's snark at bay. In another episode, Blanche's daughter Rebecca wants to have a baby via artificial insemination, much to Blanche's chagrin: "I have a reputation in this town!" Without missing a beat, Dorothy shoves a forkful of dessert into Sophia's mouth: "Cheesecake, Ma."
