Similarly, due to her RaceLift from Japanese to latina, it's a safe bet that "Aiko Miyazaki" isn't the movie Honey Lemon's real name, either.

* In the first anime of ''Manga/{{Berserk}}'', Dante and Errol are renamed Dan and Earl.

* In ''WesternAnimation/BewareTheBatman'', Magpie's real name is "Margaret Sorrow" rather than "Margaret Pye", likely to avoid the corniness of the original MeaningfulName. (It's still Meaningful ["One for sorrow..."] just a touch more subtle).

** In this incarnation, [[spoiler:"Flintheart Glomgold"]] isn't actually his birth name, which was (and still technically is, because he forgot to ever get the paperwork done to officiate the name change) is Duke Baloney.

* In ''Literature/HortonHearsAWho,'' the main antagonist is called Sour Kangaroo. In the Chuck Jones cartoon, she's Jane Kangaroo. The CGI film makes her NoNameGiven, occasionally referred to as "the Kangaroo" or similar.

* The character of Inspector Japp is renamed in ''Anime/AgathaChristiesGreatDetectivesPoirotAndMarple'' as Inspector Sharpe, likely due to the name Japp sounding [[CrossCulturalKerfluffle too similar]] to a racial slur against the Japanese.

* In ''Theatre/TheNutcracker,'' the protagonist changed from Marie to Clara (and, due to AdaptationDisplacement, stayed that way in pretty much everything). That's a bit fo a MythologyGag, since Marie had a doll named Clara in [[Literature/TheNutcrackerAndTheMouseKing the book]]. Interestingly, the ballet's co-creator, Marius Petipa, had a daughter named Marie who was a famous dancer herself; some suggest that the change was to make clear that she wasn't playing the lead[[note]](though funnily enough, she ''did'' marry the Nutcracker's actor)[[/note]].

* In ''WesternAnimation/SpiderManAndHisAmazingFriends'', Sunfire's uncle's name is changed from Tomo to Jin Ju, [[AsLongAsItSoundsForeign which isn't actually a Japanese name]] and [[InterchangeableAsianCultures sounds more Korean than anything]].

* WebVideo/AllAboutMeep renames [[Toys/{{Lalaloopsy Bundles Snuggles Stuff, Pita Mirage, and Specs Reads-a-Lot]] to Nunya Business, Pita Repeata, and Specs "Smarty" Eats-a-Lot.

* While the titular spend rotagonist of the manga ''Mars'' went only by that name, ''Anime/GodMars'' gives him the Earth name, Takeru Myoujin.

* In ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'' the true identity of [[spoiler: Fuhrer King Bradley]] is Wrath. In [[Anime/FullmetalAlchemist2003 the 2003 anime]], he is Pride instead, as the manga version of Pride had not yet been revealed and Wrath in that version was a character created specifically for the anime.

In terms of full renames, Enrique Salvatore (the pool cleaner) becomes Nikos Argitakos, and [[spoiler: his lover]] Chuck becomes Carlos. * The AbridgedSeries ''WebVideo/MajorLeaguePony'' changes Celestia and Luna's names to Sunbutt and Moonbutt respectively. [[spoiler: Subverted at the end of the second episode, where it's revealed that that's just what Twilight calls them, while ''somehow'' not realizing what her teacher and ruler's real name is.]]

** Dijon is renamed Faris D'jinn in order to be more authentically Arabic. [[spoiler: It also foreshadows the fact that he's the descendant of a genie.]]

At the time of the series, the Magneto origin had been in place for a decade.
