%%* RepriseMedley: "Descend", (played at the end of Act 4) and, to a lesser extent, "Eternity's Shylock"/"Eternity Served Cold" (the end of Act 6 Act 3).

--> This will obviously prove to be a completely ridiculous and untenable way of managing an inventory, and lead to a great many follies. Later on, you would swap your modus with your hacker friend, a guy who unlike you happens to be competent with programming. It would only make sense. But for the time being it makes your life kind of a nightmare. There are so many stupid things that happen because of this modus. So many, you just have no idea.

* StopMotion: Caliborn's "masterpiece" in Act 6 Act 6 Act 5 turns out to be this. Filmed on Website/{{Vine}}, even! (Though in reality its just a Flash gif.)

** All the conversations in Act 6, Intermission 3 so far have been in the style of Website/{{Tumblr}} posts (complete with Twitter-style hashtags and the option to heart or spade conversations or "rebubble" them.) Of course, Hussie has spared no opportunity to take jabs at the Tumblr community with this (including Kankri, who's a walking TakeThat to a specific species of self-involved and self-righteous social justice blogger).

* WorldLimitedToThePlot: The world outside of the main characters' lives appears almost desolate. None of them seem to have any other friends apart from themselves and characters on the periphery of their interpersonal interactions (their guardians) appear almost vacant and robotic. And they're not really [[AngstWhatAngst very affected]] by Earth's imminent and unavoidable destruction either. On the other hand, there are cases where we do have a glimpse outside the plot, with current events like how UsefulNotes/BarackObama is the president, and other people completely irrelevant to the plot, like the [[Website/{{Twitter}} Serious Business]] and Website/GameFAQs users, are still shown to actually exist, even if they are never shown. We also see maps of the entire planet, and the plot does, in fact, make an impact in places irrelevant to the main characters.

* YourNormalIsOurTaboo: Buckets. Also, it's considered pretty bizarre for a troll to be raised by a member of his or her own species instead of a lusus. Inverted with the trolls wondering why incest and sexual orientation matter to humans.

** The Carpacean rebellion, led by WV, ends with every soldier but him dead, and the Battlefield's river fills with their blood.

** Later, [[LampshadedTrope Dave starts complaining about it]] when Rose talks about '''THE TUMOR''' and the Green Sun.

* MurderByProxy: Vriska uses MindControl, forcing Sollux to kill his friend Aradia, after Aradia [[HauntingTheGuilty makes Vriska see the ghosts of the trolls she killed.]

* AWorldHalfFull: The human population has been reduced to single figures, the destruction of sentient species is apparently standard multiversal policy, and those that remain seem doomed to failure... but hey, that's no reason to stop trying, right? In fact, Homestuck in general (much like [[Videogame/{{Earthbound}} one of its key inspirations]]) has a habit of taking very dark concepts and portraying them in a lighter, more whimsical style.

*** Jade's kernelsprite is originally prototyped with her god-dog Becquerel, forming Becsprite. Later, this is prototyped against with the body of her dead dream self to create Jadesprite, which retains Jade's appearance and personality with Becquerel's ears, powers, and occasional bark. In [S] Collide, when Jade ascends to the God Tiers, a process that involves a player dying and then reawakening in their dream body with godlike powers, she fuses with Jadesprite to result in waking Jade with Bec's held-over traits and some of Jadesprite's memories.

* StupidStatementDanceMix: Vriska's Nicholas Cage shrine is [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqjieIbqb0g accompanied by one of these]]. The [[http://homestuck.bandcamp.com/track/nic-cage-song full version]] later makes it onto Vol. 6 of the soundtrack.
