Inazuma, to the southeast of Liyue, is an archipelago ruled by Baal, the Electro Archon and God of Eternity, better known to the locals as the "Raiden Shogun." While the Shogun nominally rules over Inazuma, she is otherwise known to be a recluse, rarely going outside the Palace of Tenshukaku. Instead, governance is delegated to the Tri-Commission, a collective of three bodies composed of noble families: the Tenryou Commission, the military and police force of the Shogunate; the Kanjou Commission, which deals with business and foreign affairs; and the Yashiro Commission, which handles civilian and religious affairs.

Inazuma City [Narukami Island]

The eponymous capital of the Inazuma Shogunate is located atop a cliff facing the sea east of Narukami Island. The Raiden Shogun makes her home at the palace of Tenshukaku to the south, the highest point of the city, which also serves as the headquarters of the Tenryou Commission and is graced by a statue of the Raiden Shogun. Further down the street is the Tenryou commercial district, among whose major sights is the Yashiro Commission-run Komore Teahouse. And at the foot of the cliff are the suburbs of Hanamizaka to the north, home to a publishing house owned by Yae Miko and the family-run Naganohara Fireworks, currently run by Yoimiya.

World Quests

    Film Notes
Released: v2.8 "Summer Fantasia" (July 13, 2022)
Prerequisite Quest: "The Seventh Samurai" (World)

"Outlander Brigade!"

Furuta, an elderly housekeeper at the Kamisato Estate, informs the Traveler that Xavier asked the Yashiro Commission to help him with his next film. The Traveler finds Xavier again at the island east of Tenshukaku with a pair of new actors, Sasano and Koharu, the latter a servant of the Kamisato household. Unfortunately for Xavier, his perfectionism did not sit well with both his actors, much less the fact that he was adapting Outlander Brigade, a self-published novel from Kayabuki Ikkei, whose works were so poorly-received they were often rejected by the Yae Publishing House. Nevertheless, they relent out of consideration for the Traveler, who happens to be a friend of both Xavier and Ayato. The three then film a scene where the Traveler, playing the role of a foreign samurai, frees Sasano and Koharu from Kairagi. Still, Xavier is dissatisfied with the other two's delivery, causing both actors to walk out. A disheartened Xavier calls it a day and retreats to Uyuu Restaurant.

There, the Traveler and Paimon find Xavier drinking away his woes, admitting that he is struggling with filmmaking, what with the Tenryou Commission being dissatisfied with The Seventh Samurai, and that his perceived lack of talent caused Sasano and Koharu to quit. While sharing a hearty meal with the Traveler and Paimon, Xavier presents his screenplay to Okazaki Rikuto, the restaurant's owner, who then offers his feedback regarding the script, taking issue with the overly stoic personality of the foreign samurai, as well as Ikkei's involvement.

Rikuto then tells Xavier, the Traveler, and Paimon a folk story about Seishimaru, scion of a disgraced samurai clan who spent years plotting vengeance against the clan that carried out the execution of their parents over a grave offense. The vendetta was complicated, however, by the fact that the man who carried out the sentence has since died, his estate now led by his eldest son, who happened to be Seishimaru's childhood friend; despite their history, the latter chose to uphold his family's honor, forcing him to bear the brunt of Seishimaru's vendetta until he succumbed to illness while in hiding, whereupon his younger brother swore vengeance against Seishimaru, who has since also went into hiding. As there are various interpretations about Seishimaru's fate, Rikuto leaves it to Xavier to add his. After spending the night at the Restaurant, Xavier tells the Traveler and Paimon that he has been inspired to write a new story based on the folktale and asks them to meet him later that night at Komore Teahouse, while the duo decide to help him by convincing Sasano and Koharu to work with him anew.

Mushounin

The Traveler and Paimon track down Koharu and Sasano at, respectively, the Kamisato Estate and Ritou, who express shame at having walked out of Xavier's filming and immediately accept their offer to work with Xavier again to make up for it. Later that night, the Traveler and Paimon find Koharu and Sasano already rehearsing at the Komore Teahouse; with all actors present, Xavier begins filming the scene of the reunion between Seishimaru and their childhood friend, now respectively named "Kurotani Seishimaru" and "Wakayama Keisuke" and likewise portrayed by the Traveler and Sasano; after a brief interruption from "Yano Machiko," a tea vendor and an original character portrayed by Koharu, the scene continued to the fateful scene where Seishimaru and Keisuke agree to continue the former's vendetta. Unlike last time, Xavier is impressed at the improvement of Sasano and Koharu.

The following night, the group continues filming at Nazuchi Beach at Yashiori Island, where the Traveler pressures a group of Kairagi into playing a group of thugs the Traveler/Seishimaru beats up to save Koharu/Machiko from them. Once again, Xavier praises the actors' performance despite failing to convince the Kairagi to linger on to recite lines he prepared for them, and invites them the following night to film another scene at the small island east of Tenshukaku.

There, the group plays out the final scenes of the film, with Sasano now portraying "Wakayama Kojuurou," the younger brother. From there, the actors play out Xavier's ending to the folktale, wherein the Traveler/Seishimaru defeats Sasano/Kojuurou but spares him, and after declaring their affection for Koharu/Machiko, leaps to their death, realizing that their vendetta has been for naught. The filming finished, the Traveler, having landed safely, climbs back up the rock, where Xavier praises all his actors for their perfromance and expresses his intent to return home to Fontaine, inviting the Traveler to shoot a film with him again should they meet there.

He also tells them that the last time he was with "Big Sis", a fellow Hoarder, was in Jueyun Karst in Liyue, where they were attacked by a pair of Guhua practitioners, Sun Yu and Little Que'er. Before they get into another argument, the Traveler agrees to find "Big Sis" in Jueyun Karst, with Hiromi telling them to report back to him in Ritou. Upon reporting back to Wakamurasaki, she ruefully notes that so far her device can only capture small creatures, and that she still needed further research to improve its viability. The Traveler then reports back to Sango, who admits that the technique she taught Wakamurasaki was meant for small animals, and that the matter of the Omni-Ubiquity Net was originally part of her campaign to strike fear in the hearts of Inazuman criminals with the prospect of an Onmyoudou technique that can capture the truth; with the matter snowballing into Wakamurasaki pestering her into finding more techniques that can help her create a more effective Omni-Ubiquity Net, however, Sango is now having regrets over teaching her.

Released: v2.0 "The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia" (July 21, 2021)

A Strange Story in Konda

On the outskirts of Konda Village, the Traveler and Paimon meet a masked shrine maiden who asks them to take a ward from a nearby Sky Kitsune statue. Introducing herself as Hanachirusato, she asks them to investigate and lift a barrier underneath the village, which she claims was founded by people tasked with minding it.

The duo ask around the villagers, who relate recent events involving ransacked goods and rumors of mora thrown underneath a dry, sealed well behind the house of Konda Densuke, the village chief. As Densuke proves uncooperative, the Traveler and Paimon get him to open up by presenting him the floating bags found on a gully, a ragged ledger of goods from a broken cart next on the village outskirts, and a purse next to the well. Confronted with the evidence, Densuke confesses that the goods and mora were a Shogunate cargo ransacked by some drunken youths from the village; rather than put the village into disrepute, he chose to hide them. Once Paimon assures him that they are not so much after the goods as much as the other secret of the village, Densuke, surprised that they knew it at all, tells them to find his diary at a rooftop, which points them to the location of the key to the well in an abandoned house.

The Traveler and Paimon discover that the well conceals a large cave containing a sealed tree root. After defeating an Ochimusha, a phantasmal samurai that appeared as they placed the ward before the seal, Hanachirusato suddenly appears and informs the Traveler that they are worthy of performing a certain ritual. She informs them about the Thunder Sakura, sacred trees endowed with the power to remove traces of evil from the land, which have to be regularly purged of the accumulated filth through Cleansing Rituals. As she is physically unable to do so, she asks them to perform the Ritual in her stead, and points them to an abandoned shrine northeast of Konda.

Sacrificial Offering'''

At the abandoned shrine, the Traveler guides three spirits onto Sky Kitsune Statues, revealing a manual for the ritual. As the book is badly weathered, they head up to the Grand Narukami Shrine atop Mount Yougou, the holiest temple in Narukami, where they meet Inagi Hotomi, a senior shrine maiden, who informs them that most details about the Ritual have been lost, but she can help their search with a Memento Lens, an artifact that can detect spiritual traces from immaterial objects, such as the shorter, stouter Earth Kitsune, believed to be the petrified familiars of the Kitsune Saiguu, founder of the Shrine, waiting for her after she disappeared centuries ago.

Back at the shrine, the Traveler uses the Lens on Earth Kitsune Statues, revealing memories of ancient Inazumans, from whom they glean the incantation used to reveal a ward to the Thunder Sakura root, in a cave behind a gate opened only with a key they found earlier inside the cave underneath Konda. After breaking the seal and defeating the Ochimusha, Hanachirusato appears again, who explains that throughout the centuries the accumulated filth would take the form of various living beings, and is baffled that today they have taken the form of the malevolent Ochimusha. As there are five Thunder Sakura throughout Narukami, she informs them of the whereabouts of the three remaining trees: inside the thick woods of Chinju Forest, midway between Konda and the Kamisato Clan's estate, occupied by the bake-danuki, mischievous racoon dog-like creatures; on the beach near the Kamisato Estate; and in the ruins underneath the plateau of Araumi, at the northernmost corner of Narukami. Paimon then remembers someone who looked like Hanachirusato appearing in one of the Memento Lens visions, at which point she confirms that she is centuries old.

Cleansing Defilement

NOTE: Runs concurrent with "Tanuki-Bayashi in the Forest" if the player proceeds to cleanse the Thunder Sakura Tree underneath Chinju Forest
At Hanachirusato's instructions, the Traveler and Paimon conduct the ritual to cleanse the impurities of the Thunder Sakura roots at Chinju Forest, behind the Kamisato Estate, and Araumi. Each purification involves finding, the ward, breaking the seal, and defeating the Ochimusha.

Tanuki-Bayashi in the Forest

NOTE: Runs concurrent with "Cleansing Defilement"
In Chinju Forest, the Traveler hears a strange voice beckoning them to a giant statue of a bake-danuki; after driving away surrounding hilichurls, they learn that the voice came from the statue, who introduces himself as Ioroi, an old rival and friend of the Saiguu who had been sealed away after he wrought havoc centuries ago. After playing with and fetching three bake-danuki for him, he hands them a comb he unearthed from one of the Kitsune statues he destroyed during his rampage, which turns out to be a ward. After cleansing the Thunder Sakura root of Chiju Forest by breaking the seal and defeating the Ochimusha, Hanachirusato appears to explains that, during a cataclysm centuries ago, when the Thunder Sakura nearly died from excess filth, the Saiguu tricked Ioroi into staying in the Forest with a game of hide-and-seek while she fought off the encroaching darkness to her last breath; eventually, Ioroi, realizing she tricked him, went on a rampage to draw her out until he had to be sealed by Kamuna Harunosuke, a disciple of the Saiguu.

Yougou Cleansing

Prerequisite Quests: "Cleansing Defilement" and "Tanuki-Bayashi in the Forest"
With all five Thunder Sakura roots cleansed, the Traveler reports back to Hanachirusato in the root beneath Konda, who informs them that they have one more cleansing to perform, on the roots of the Sacred Sakura, the great tree looming over the Grand Narukami Shrine of which the five Thunder Sakura are but its roots jutting outward, deep beneath Mount Yougou.

There, Hanachirusato performs a ritual that drains the Electro-charged lake and reveals a cavern where the roots of the Sacred Sakura are suppressing a tumorous concentration of filth. After purging the filth and weathering the Ochimusha it summons, the Traveler informs Hanachirusato that the rapid accumulation of filth and their manifestation as the Ochimusha are the result of recent unrest in Inazuma; in turn, the shrine maiden reveals herself to be one such manifestation of the filth, born from the memory of the Saiguu, and that she is already at peace with the fact that, by helping the Traveler complete the Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual, she, too, is bound to disappear, having seen Ioroi being at peace with his state and satisfied that the Inagi family of shrine maidens lives on. Hanachirusato and the Traveler say their goodbyes, as the former fades away, leaving behind a kitsune mask.

Upon meeting him, the Traveler volunteers to help with the search, starting with Ishikawa, another soldier who joined at around the same time as his son, currently stationed in Kannazuka. There, they learn from Ishikawa, as well as his fellow soldiers Ono and Ogura Yuu, that Jirou already deserted, and so would have Ishikawa but for being captured and temporarily imprisoned, out of trauma of seeing their comrades-in-arms fall in battle with the Sangonomiya Resistance; given his fascination for stories about bandits, they also fear that he joined a group of separatist bandits at the secluded island of Jinren north of Narukami. When the Traveler and Paimon report back to Katsumi, they lie to him that he is alright and even had to dissuade him from personally following his son into Kannazuka, with his wife Eri helping the Traveler calm him down.

Either way, he claims that he has become a treasure hunter, and that he has found a treasury that can only be opened with four stone slates scattered throughout Narukami; upon returning, he reveals he has a fifth slate he hid as insurance, much to Paimon's annoyance. After the second trip to Narukami, they find Jirou captured by ronin, who reveal that the treasury also needed a key, the ensuing ruckus attracting the attention of Treasure Hoarders and even the Fatui. After the Traveler dispatched them all, Jirou hands them the key to the treasury, only to be dejected upon discovering that it contains nothing but rotten provisions and broken pottery. Jirou returns home to Konda Village, where, after some jesting, he is welcomed back by his parents Katsumi and Eri. The former reveals to the Traveler that Jirou joined the Shogunate Army to escape the shame of participating in a drunken mob that ransacked a Shogunate cargo that had to be covered up by Konda Densuke, and that the "treasury" at Jinren is actually an ancient granary. For now, Jirou's parents will help him hide until the conflict ends and he will have to find a more stable job, and as compensation Katsumi gives the Traveler his family's heirloom sword.

    Gendou Ringo's Strange Fortune Slips

Gendou Ringo's Strange Fortune Slips

Released: v2.4 "Fleeting Colors in Flight" (January 5, 2022)
Type: Hidden Exploration Objective
Additional Prerequisite Quest: "Omnipresence Over Mortals" (Archon Quest Chapter II, Act III)
NOTE: Each successive stage becomes accessible the following real-life day
Gendou Ringo, an unusually cold Narukami shrine maiden minding a box of fortune slips, invites the Traveler to pick a slip, which she then reads to decipher their fortune once a day. Afterwards, while traveling in the heights above Araumi, the Traveler and Paimon clear out a Fatui camp, where they find a tattered note which they believe to lead to treasure, clues to which they intuit to involve handing a fortune slip and reciting a passcode which reads "In the middle of a hazy night." The duo then return to the Grand Narukami Shrine and do as the note instructed to Ringo, who responds by handing them a strange fortune slip which points to a Shuumatsuban operation to deal with Mourisu, a Fatui spy spotted in a cave directly underneath Tenshukaku.

Over the next three days, the Traveler follows Ringo's strange slips instructing them to go after criminal elements in Inazuma: Makita Umio, alias "Mousey," a bandit targeting Shogunate supply lines near the Kujou Encampment; a group of corrupt Shogunate samurai colluding with bandits to steal local resources, who meet at night in the caves underneath Tenshukaku; and a gang led by Matsudaira Kinjirou, alias "Demonbane Kin," prime suspects in a string of murders in Kannazuka thirty years ago, recently found at Jakotsu Mine.

On the fifth day, the Traveler and Paimon find that Ringo is missing and has apparently left a note pointing to a bandit lair northeast of Mount Yougou. There they are ambushed, and when they come to, they have been locked inside a wooden cage by Ringo, who interrogates them where they got the passcode. Upon explaining is origins, Ringo explains that she is an undercover agent of the Shuumatsuban, that the note and the passcode belonged to her comrade-in-arms Momoka, who she believes to have been killed in action, and that the strange slips are the agents' methods of communication, from which they have learned of Fatui activity in Inazuma. Once she ascertained that the Traveler is not a Fatui spy, she releases them and Paimon. However, she reveals that the Ringo they knew at the Shrine from the second assignment onwards was a Fatui impostor, the real Ringo having been waylaid by the Fatui, though she faked her death and has since been preparing in the lair, which she reveals to be her safehouse, which she then allows the Traveler to use.

Later, the Traveler and Paimon return to the Grand Narukami Shrine and confront the fake Ringo, whose comparatively pleasant personality and claims that being a shrine maiden was her dream was a dead giveaway, though they are also perplexed at her seemingly genuine enjoyment of her role.

The Very Special Fortune Slip

Released: v2.4 "Fleeting Colors in Flight" (January 5, 2022)
Type: World Quest Series

Shuumatsuban Operations

As the Traveler walks to the Inazuma Adventurers' Guild hall, someone bumps into them, slipping in a note which they interpret as a summons from Gendou Ringo in her hideout northeast of Mount Yougou. There, they find Ringo, now wearing a civilian outfit, who prefers that they address her henceforth as "Momoyo," her old name "Gendou Ringo" being but an alias still used by the Fatui impostor. That said, she informs the duo that the impostor has not given them orders lately, leading her to suspect that her comrades are preparing for a large-scale operation. Thus she summoned the Traveler to spy on three other undercover Fatui, providing them a code sheet she had Sayu steal.

Per Momoyo's instructions, the Traveler find the infiltrators: "Buzuleac," a merchant from Sumeru stuck at Ritou; "Nakatani," a merchant at Inazuma City; and "Tae," a newly-hired worker at the Royal Hot Springs in Tenshukaku. From them, they learn that the Gendou Ringo impostor, née Lyudochka Snezhevna, has been assigned to the Shrine on account of her Inazuman heritage making it easy for her to blend in, though lack of progress with her espionage has made her superior grow impatient and threaten to send her to the frontlines at Watatsumi.

Having successfully gathered information, the Traveler and Paimon report back to Momoyo, who intuits that Lyudochka's superior has been pressing her to continue making contact with the Traveler. To glean information from her, Momoyo hands the Traveler a bamboo slip laced with elemental powder which they can detect using Elemental Sight so they can stalk her.

The Replacement's Secret

Returning to the Grand Narukami Shrine, the Traveler and Paimon hand Lyudochka the marked slip. Later that night, the Traveler spies on her along the path to the Shrine, explaining herself to her superior, Efim Snezhevich, who berates her for her tardiness and failure to infiltrate the Shuumatsuban. With the patience of Lady Arlecchino, the Harbinger to whom they answer, wearing thin, Efim hands Lyudochka her "final instructions" ordering her to sabotage the recently-established ceasefire between the Shogunate and Watatsumi and spark a new round of hostilities, creating more war orphans for Arlecchino to train, hence elevating her prestige in the wake of Signora's demise.

Once Efim left, the Traveler confronts Lyudochka to take her instructions, to which she responds by engaging them in a duel. The Traveler easily defeats her, but chooses to spare her, realizing that she is trying to die by their hands to escape the moral dilemma over her orders. Lyudochka explains that she has been tarrying on her infiltration out of fear of the Traveler, whose reputation for crossing swords with the Fatui have spread near and far, to say nothing of having fulfilled her childhood dream of working as shrine maiden. Furthermore, she confesses that Efim's final instruction was for her and her comrades to poison the soil of Watatsumi while posing as Narukami shrine maidens and Tenryou soldiers, hence sabotaging the ceasire. However, she also did not have the heart to openly defy Efim, as Shezheviches and Shezhevnas like themselves are orphans raised as siblings under Arlecchino's orphanage, despite her misgivings over her orders that will create more orphans. To help her hide from Efim, the Traveler suggests that Lyudochka lie low, to which she proposes resuming her earlier guise as a proofreader with the Yae Publishing House; in exchange, she hands them her instructions.

The duo report back to Momoyo, and after handing her Lyudochka's instructions, they ask her to create a false cadaver to trick the Fatui. After briefly complaining over having to help a Fatuus, she orders them to procure meat, iron ore, ganoderma, and clothing; for the latter, the Traveler asks Lyudochka to hand them her Fatui uniform. The Traveler and Paimon return to Momoyo with the materials, who asks them to wait until next day while she finishes crafting the forgery.

Where the Dandelions Find Rest

The following day, the Traveler and Paimon return to Momoyo's safehouse, only to find it infiltrated by some Fatui. After defeating them, the duo realize that Momoyo may have been captured by the Fatui, but managed to use the elemental powder to allow them to find her. The duo follow the trail of the powder, leading them to an abandoned house by the western clifftop of Araumi containing an underground passage.

Inside the passage, the Traveler and Paimon overhear a Fatuus and a ronin for hire talking about Efim discovering what he thought to be Lyudochka's corpse next to Momoyo, and had her captured to learn the Shuumatsuban's plans, to no avail. After defeating them, the Traveler hear Momoyo on the other side of a wall, who points them to the key guarded by some Fatui, who the duo overhear discussing Efim having been summoned back to Snezhnaya despite his ongoing Watatsumi operation, enacted without Arlecchino's knowledge. After the Traveler defeats them, the Traveler frees Momoyo, injured and her eyesight damaged from the powder she unleashed when she was captured. Outside the house, the Traveler and Paimon discover that Momoyo is blind in one eye, which she takes in stride given the success of the ruse, and asks them to inform Lyudochka that she is free, while she returns to the Shrine to relay a message to the Shuumatsuban.

The Traveler and Paimon return to the Yae Publishing House, only to find that Lyudochka is gone. They learn from Aratani that "Touyama," as Lyudochka called herself in her guise as proofreader, claimed to have resigned over a family emergency. She then hands the duo a letter from Lyudochka, wherein she apologizes to them for her hasty departure and expresses shame at the Traveler and Momoyo having to risk their lives to help fake her death, especially when she saw the latter half-blind when she snuck out to find them at Araumi, and expresses her intent to leave Inazuma. The duo report back to Momoyo at the Grand Narukami Shrine, who not only does not blame Lyudochka for her handicap, but even states that Miko expressed interest in hiring her full-time as shrine maiden, and has the duo find her in Ritou to relay her the news, as well as tell her that Momoyo is giving her the blessing to keep using the name "Gendou Ringo." Furthermore, she tells the Traveler that, despite her disability, she will continue to help the Shuumatsuban stop the Fatui's scheme at Watatsumi.

The Traveler and Paimon find Lyudochka in the docks of Ritou, where they try to convince her to stay despite her shame over nearly endangering Inazuma anew, citing Momoyo not blaming her for her state, Aratani complimenting her reading skills, and Miko, who already knew that she was a Fatuus but invited her to become a shrine maiden regardless. Lyudochka, however, still has doubts if she can fit into Inazuma given that she knew nothing but the life of a Snezhevna since childhood, and thinks wandering Teyvat might help her find her purpose. To convince her to stay, the Traveler presents her the fortune slip they used to track her down, this time as a symbol of them reaching out to her, and note that she is wearing her shrine maiden uniform, interpreting it as a symbol of her love for Inazuma. Moved to tears, Lyudochka finally chooses to stay and continue work as shrine maiden, thanking the Traveler, Paimon, Momoyo, and Miko for accepting her.

Kannazuka

The eastern half of disputed territory between the Shogunate and Watatsumi is a collection of two major islands. The smaller of the two, to the northeast, is dominated by the Kujou Encampment, the Shogunate's base of operations. Tatarasuna, the southwestern and larger of the two islands, is home to the Mikage Furnace, where the Shogunate used to forge their weapons, until it overloaded on Tatarigami, a dangerous miasma used to power it, during the conflict with Watatsumi, forcing a mass evacuation of the island.

Tatara Tales

World Effect: Destroys the barrier around the Mikage Furnace
In the Kujou Encampment, the Traveler and Paimon overhear Miyuki, a shrine maiden, arguing with Toranosuke, a Tenryou officer, over what she perceived to be the Shogunate army's lax response to an emergency on the island of Tatarasuna to the south. As she explains to the Traveler, years ago, the Tenryou Commission hired engineers from Fontaine to construct the Mikage Furnace, a machine that runs on Tatarigami, an otherwise highly dangerous miasma, to smelt the Jade Steel used to forge Inazuman weaponry; during the conflict with Watatsumi, however, the storage device became unstable, forcing an evacuation of the site, while Xavier, the only Fontainean engineer left since the Sakoku Decree was put into effect, created a containment dome around the Furnace to prevent intrusions while he brainstorms a longer-term solution. With the Tatarigami threatening to reach Narukami, and the Tenryou Commission wrapped up in bureaucratic red tape, she has been sent to investigate.

The Traveler visits Xavier in his shack on the west of Tatarasuna, who needed a Vision holder to help him investigate the dome without succumbing to the Tatarigami, and despite lacking a Vision, they convince him to let them assist him. To their alarm, they discover that the dome has three large cracks, one of which is swarming with Fatui. They report back to Xavier, who suspects that the Fatui may have been breaking into the dome and has already slipped in some agents to repair the Furnace and use it for themselves. At his direction, the Traveler finds the Kamuijima Cannons, which use Electro-charged shots meant for use by the Shogunate forces before being rendered useless following a Resistance ambush, to destroy the dome and trick the Fatui into thinking the Shogunate has caught onto them. After the Traveler destroys the dome, they return to Xavier, who then asks them to take pictures of the core floating atop the Furnace.

Tatara Tales: Priority Investigation

To Xavier's relief, the core is largely intact; however, the Fatui's presence complicates his efforts to repair the Furnace, forcing him to deal with both issues at the same time. For the moment, however, Xavier prioritizes the Furnace, and so asks the Traveler to install three sensor beacons on various locations around the core to gather data on Tatarigami density. After doing so, the Traveler reports back to Xavier, who asks them to assist him with repairing the Furnace over the next few days.

Tatara Tales: Purification Device

NOTE: The subsequent quests from this one will be gradually unlocked one real-life day after the current one is completed
The following day, Xavier reports to the Traveler that, while data gathering is ongoing, he has thought of constructing a purification device, and has the Traveler collect Crystal Marrows to be used to absorb Tatarigami. Afterwards, Xavier asks them to wait until the data gathering has finished.

Tatara Tales: Data Collection

On the third day, Xavier informs the Traveler that the sensors have finished gathering data, thus he asks them to retrieve it, all the while avoiding the Fatui. Upon returning, Xavier remarks on the Fatui converging around the core, fearing that they may be up to something.

Tatara Tales: Process Is Everything

On the fourth day, Xavier reports that, while the device is almost complete, he needed to make sure the core is stable enough for the device to work properly, so he asks the Traveler to take more photographs of the core. Upon returning, Xavier is relieved that the situation is still manageable, revealing that the Mikage Furnace's core abruptly shut down due to oversaturation of Tatarigami, and that the device was designed to absorb enough energy until the core restarts and purify the Tatarigami on its own again.

Tatara Tales: Functional Test

On the fifth day, Xavier alerts the Traveler of further Fatui incursion, and that they needed to immediately start functionality tests by collecting three onikabuto, beetles native to Inazuma that can survive in Electro-charged environments such as the Tatarigami-overloaded Mikage Furnace, to test the device's ability to purify them.

Tatara Tales: Final Preparations

On the sixth day, Xavier happily reports that the device successfully purified the onikabuto of Tatarigami, meaning it is ready to be transported inside the Mikage Furnace. While he thinks of an optimal route that would allow him to avoid the Fatui, Xavier asks the Traveler to rebuild bridges along the possible routes.

Tatara Tales: The Last Act

At last, on the seventh day, the Traveler helps Xavier bring the device into the Mikage Furnace, along the way retrieving components lost en route and repelling the Fatui. The trio reach their ideal location, a small island directly underneath the floating core, where Xavier, an amateur filmmaker on his off-time, compliments the Traveler for their assistance and promises to write a screenplay about their adventures. Xavier then activates the device, slowly absorbing the Tatarigami, while the Traveler fends off the Fatui that came to attack.

Eventually, the device absorbs enough Tatarigami to allow the core to reactivate and resume purification. Xavier remarks that while the Fatui will continue trying to monopolize Tatarigami energy, the current situation will make it harder for them to even attempt without drawing the ire of the Shogunate. The trio then return to the Kujou Encampment to recuperate and report back to Toranosuke, who is relieved that they managed to resolve the crisis while their formal request for aid was caught up in red tape, in particular their superior Hanbei's indecisiveness, which led to his superior, Mikoshi Genjirou, demoting him under the pretext of sending him to Sumeru as foreign attaché, and gives the Traveler and Xavier their due recompense.

Hanayama Kaoru's Flowery Plan

Released: v2.0 "The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia" (July 21, 2021)
Prerequisite Quest: "Tatara Tales" (World Quest Series)
NOTE: Each successive stage becomes accessible the following real-life day
With the Mikage Furnace stabilized, Hanayama Kaoru, a Tatarasuna islander and a flower connoiseur, was among the first people to return, citing homesickness as well as a need to look after her flower garden atop a large rock arch north of the Furnace; as they wilted during her long absence, however, she is struggling to find some seeds to start her garden anew. Remembering that they got a bag of seeds from Takashi, a trader living in a conch-shaped hut who trades items in exchange for conches found on the shallow waters of northern Tatarasuna, the Traveler gives the bag to her, who thanks them for the assistance by handing them a bag full of mora.

The following day, the Traveler finds Kaoru distressed at the flowers having attracted Whopperflowers, and asks the Traveler to deal with them.

On the third day, Kaoru asks the Traveler to help her pick Sweet Flowers for her, while she rests after a few sleepless days tending to the flowers, so she can dry them and send them alongside invitation letters to her fellow islanders to finally return home.

Yashiori Island

West of Kannazuka lay Yashiori, held sacred by the people of Watatsumi as the island where Orobashi was martyred at the hands of the Raiden Shogun, its skeletal remains scattered across the island, bisected by the Musoujin Gorge, where the Shogun felled it with her fabled sword technique, the Musou no Hitotachi. Centuries after its death, its power lingered on as the Tatarigami, which manifested on this island as a perpetual thunderstorm and a miasma driving people insane. North of the Gorge are the ruins of Fort Fujitou, next to which is the base camp of the Watatsumi army, while off the coast to the west are the half-submerged Archon War-era ruins of Fort Mumei. Immediately south of the Gorge is the village of Higi, abandoned save for a few bandits corrupted by the Tatarigami; heading further south is the fossilized remains of Orobashi's skull, and beyond that is the abandoned Jakotsu Mine. East of the island is the sandbar of Nazuchi Beach, the only land connection with Tatarasuna and a recurring theater of the civil war.

Released: v2.0 "The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia" (July 21, 2021)
Prerequisite Quest: "Ritou Escape Plan" (Archon Quest Chapter II, Act I, Part 3)

Orobashi's Legacy: Prologue

Near the Resistance stronghold of Fort Fujitou, the Traveler and Paimon meet Kaji, a former worker at Jakotsu Mine to the south, who warns them against lingering in Yashiori due to the spread of Tatarigami, which he blames on fanatical worshippers of Orobashi, the serpentine guardian deity of Watatsumi slain by the Raiden Shogun for attacking the island centuries ago and whose remains are scattered across the land, breaking the wards containing its lingering power. As the plague has caused physical and mental illnesses to Shogunate soldiers, Watatsumi rebels, and locals alike, as well as enveloped Yashiori in constant rain, most residents, Kaji's family included, had fled elsewhere, while he stayed behind to repair the wards so they can return. Despite some reservations, he accepts the Traveler's assistance with repairing the Narukami Pillars set up throughout the island.

Orobashi's Legacy: Part I

World Effect: Dispels the constant rain over Fort Fujitou and northern Yashiori
The first Pillar to be repaired is located near Fort Fujitou, which involves reorienting a series of mirrors near the ruins of the Fort that reflect an orb of Electro energy that can dispel a Hydro barrier concealing a pearl and a warding stone, key components needed to restore the Pillar's Tatarigami-sealing powers. Next to the Pillar, the Traveler discovers a fragment of a log of Tenryou samurai and the gradual decimation of their ranks due to Tatarigami.

Orobashi's Legacy: Part II

World Effect: Dispels the constant rain over Serpent's Head and central Yashiori
NOTE: Runs concurrent with "Orobashi's Legacy: Part III"
The second Pillar to repair lay next to the fossilized remains of Orobashi's skull, with the pearl found inside a Hydro barrier at a lagoon below the skull and the ward inside a waterlogged ruin to the northeast. In addition, the Traveler finds a note next to the Pillar revealing a plot by some of the more zealous rebels to sabotage the Pillars, under the direction of their Mondstadtian ally Nathan, behind Kokomi's back.

Orobashi's Legacy: Part III

World Effect: Dispels the constant rain over Jakotsu Mine and southern Yashiori
NOTE: Runs concurrent with "Orobashi's Legacy: Part II"
The third Pillar is inside Jakotsu Mine, concealed inside a Hydro barrier, with the pearl and ward hidden elsewhere behind Electro barriers.

Orobashi's Legacy: Part IV

With the three Pillars repaired, the Traveler and Paimon report back to Kaji, who has gone to the Archon War-era ruins of Fort Mumei, which began to emerge from beneath the sea after the other three Pillars have been repaired. Nevertheless, to completely dissipate the clouds, they have to repair the Narukami Pillar in he middle of the Fort, conealed behind a Hydro barrier.

Orobashi's Legacy: Part V

As they have done thrice, the Traveler destroys the Hydro barrier by manipulating the trajectory of an Electro orb. After defeating the Maguu Kenki that stood watch over the Pillar, the Traveler uses the pearl and warding stone they found around the Fort to activate it, finally clearing the skies above Yashiori. In spite of his fears that the end of the thunderstorm may cause the Shogunate and the Resistance to resume fighting, Kaji is more relieved that the people can return to the island. As his token of gratitude, Kaji rewards the Traveler with the blueprints to a special spear once used by the island's guardians, while he leaves for the Kujou Encampment.

The next day, Kyuuzou reveals that he is a deserter from the Shogunate forces hiding out in the wreckage of a Sangonomiya ship, in the meantime asking the Traveler to offer dendrobium to the grave of a fallen comrade-in-arms. The following day, Kyuuzou alerts the Traveler that pirates are returning; after dispatching them anew, the Traveler returns to find that Kyuuzou has disappeared, leaving behind a note apologizing to his wife Shizuko for deserting the Army following a pang of conscience upon realizing that the rebels are just ordinary people like him.

Released: v2.2 "Into the Perilous Labyrinth of Fog" (October 13, 2021)
Prerequisite Quests: "Omnipresence Over Mortals" (Archon Quest Chapter II, Act III); "Orobashi's Legacy" (World Quest Series)
At the Sangonomiya Shrine, Shizuru, a shrine maiden, flags the Traveler with an emergency commission from Kokomi. Though the conflict with the Shogunate ended with a ceasefire, the abolition of the Vision Hunt Decree, and the humbling of the Tenryou and Kanjou Commissions, some Fatui stragglers remain in Yashiori, plotting to reignite hostilities. In particular, she has read reports that the Fatui are colluding with some Shogunate soldiers into conducting a survey, and asks the Traveler to investigate the group, with the Traveler suggesting infiltration under a Fatuus disguise.

At Jakotsu Mine, Shizuru, accompanied by a disguised Traveler, tries to negotiate with some Shogunate samurai to let her survey the Mine, claiming her people hold Yashiori sacred as the site of Orobashi's martyrdom. The samurai rebuff her, blaming Watatsumi for the abolition of the Vision Hunt Decree and thus their unemployment following the sacking of Hiiragi Shinsuke, thus outing them as disgruntled former Kanjou samurai, at which point Shizuru asks the Traveler to put them out of their misery. After dealing with them, the Traveler finds a note detailing a survey of Jakotsu Mine, coordinated by a Fatuus named Nathan, which includes a footnote indicating a recruitment drive, leading Shizuru to conclude that the samurai they encountered earlier are such prospective recruits.

Per the footnote, the Traveler and Shizuru head west to the port near Serpent's Head, where they pass themselves up as recruits to Borenka, a Fatui naval officer. Mistaking them for ex-Kanjou samurai, he asks them to produce Nathan's report, as well as for them to join his escape to Snezhnaya. At this point, Shizuru reveals herself and the Traveler as saboteurs, and charges the Fatui with trying to sabotage the ceasefire, inciting radicals within the Sangonomiya Resistance, destroying Tatarigami Wards in Yashiori, recruiting ex-Kanjou samurai, and humiliating one of her fellow shrine maidens. At her cue, the Traveler wipes out Borenka, his Fatui contingent, and their Inazuman recruits. After dealing with them, the Traveler finds a note of Borenka's orders to bring the recruits to Pierro, the first-ranking Harbinger, less as footsoldiers than as mere test subjects.

With Borenka and his lackeys dealt with, Shizuru thanks the Traveler for their assistance, explaining that she is gathering incriminating evidence against Nathan, who has been imprisoned for infiltrating the Sangonomiya Resistance and agitating radical elements. After briefly lamenting Teppei's death due to the Fatui's machinations, she invites the Traveler to celebrate their progress over some grilled unagi.

The next day, the duo meet him again, this time merely asking for twelve Marrows in exchange for explaining himself. While they share a meal afterwards, Chouji admits that he is trying to earn money to escape Yashiori and find his mother, who has been evacuated after war broke out with Watatsumi, his father's death, and several islanders being infected with the Tatarigami. Thinking his mother may still be in Yashiori, he asks the Traveler to look at a shrine where she often offers Sakura Blooms. Upon returning, they report to Chouji that she is not there, but there are Blooms scattered; confident that she is alive, he thanks them for their assistance as he prepares to leave Yashiori.

Upon receiving the Marrows, Chouji finally begins his journey east to Narukami and then far to Snezhnaya, where he believes his mother might have taken refuge.

As he is experimenting on a medicine for the disease, he asks the Traveler to bring him a dozen Naku Weeds tainted with Tatarigami. The following day, the Traveler brings him the weeds, which he grounds into a medicine he tests on himself; the smell of the medicine attracts Kairagis infected with Tatarigami, however, so the Traveler has to fend them off; afterwards, Yasumoto requests the Traveler to continue sending him weeds so he can continue his experiments.

Using Elemental sight, the Traveler traces his tracks, along the way finding fragments of his notebook under a tree east of his house, along the path between the Resistance camp and the ruins of Fort Fujitou, and on a Kairagi campsite north of Fort Fujitou. Piecing together the notebook reveals his struggles with being the only medical practitioner left on Yashiori, confessing that his earlier medicines are but a placebo meant to keep the islanders' spirits up; his curiosity over the case over Chouji's mother, the only islander not to be driven mad by the Tatarigami despite being exposed to it, and who has been brought over to Sumeru for treatment; and, finally, his gratitude to the Traveler and Paimon's assistance with his Naku Weed-based medicine, which he will test on himself by exposing himself to Tatarigami at the southern shoals of Yashiori.

The Traveler and Paimon try to find him there, only to find nothing but the bamboo basket full of Naku Weed.

On the second day, the Traveler does again as Washizu instructed, who dismisses the factions of the Inazuman civil war for failing to heed his god.

On the third day, before the Traveler prays again at the shrine, Washizu goes on a rant that his god is angry over a woman who refused to pay tribute to him and has fled elsewhere.

On the fourth day, Washizu rouses and attacks the Traveler, intending to use them as a sacrifice for his god, forcing the latter to kill him in self-defense.

After killing Washizu, the Traveler finds a pair of notes that leads to his disturbing story as the elder of Higi Village, across Musoujin Gorge from the Resistance camp, and his desperate attempts to treat the villagers affected by the Tatarigami until he, too, began hearing voices that slowly drove him mad and he began sacrificing his fellow villagers and other passersby, including attempts on both Chouji's mother and the Traveler, in an attempt to appease Orobashi.

Watatsumi Island

At the far west of the Inazuman archipelago is Watatsumi, an island famed for its dense foliage in breathtaking colors, as well as an autonomous government led by the Sangonomiya Clan, currently led by Kokomi, that continues to worship Orobashi centuries after its passing. Northeast of the island is Suigetsu Pool, suite of an abandoned mansion said to be the house of Umigozen, a famed general of Watatsumi who once fought in the battle between the Raiden Shogun and Orobashi. At the southeastern corner of the island is the village of Bourou, the largest habitation on the island and training grounds for soldiers fighting against the Vision Hunt Decree; to the northwest is the Sangonomiya Shrine, where Orobashi continues to be worshipped and from where Kokomi leads the resistance; and behind the Shrine is the ruins of Mouun Shrine, once dedicated to the Raiden Shogun before the deterioration of relations with the Shogunate over Orobashi's death.

Released: v2.1 "Floating World Under the Moonlight" (September 1, 2021)
Prerequisite: "Ritou Escape Plan" (Archon Quest Chapter II, Act I, Act 3)

The Moon-Bathed Deep

Next to the ruins of Mouun Shrine, Tsuyuko, a shrine maiden of Watatsumi, asks for the Traveler's help with an emergency involving Watatsumi, for the "Holy Soil" phenomenon is threatening anew to render the island's soil infertile after several centuries, believed to originate from Enkanomiya, an underground nation from which the people of Watatsumi originated and then fled with the help of Orobashi, and which can be countered by conducting the Watatsumi Goryou Omatsuri ritual with a branch of the Jade Coral retrieved from Enkanomiya, used by Orobashi as part of the seal over the "Dragonheir of the Depths," a fearsome being from which the ancestors of Watatsumi isanders fled, even as this runs the risk of loosening the seal until it breaks free and attacks Watatsumi. For now, however, Tsuyuko asks the Traveler to break the seals of the Goshou Rocks, five nodes of the barrier between Watatsumi and Enkanomiya erected throughout the former by the first Sangonomiya clergy and Orobashi. When Paimon raises concerns over having to do errands again, let alone the potential dangers from Enkanomiya, Tsuyuko wins her over with the promise of treasure down there.

As centuries have passed since the ritual was last conducted, very few people still remember how to break the seals, and with Kokomi busy dealing with the conflict with the Shogunate, Tsuyuko asks such a seasoned adventurer as the Traveler to do so, instructing them to first visit four shrines, called the "Eye," "Fang," "Fin," and "Tail of Watatsumi," and retrieve Spirit Pearls, which can then be used to find the fifth and final seal and obtain a key to Enkanomiya, even as she expresses skepticism over the traditional account of the Holy Soil phenomenon, having read some works from the Sumeru Akademiya stating that it is but a consequence of Watatsumi's unique geography, wherein, because most of the island lay below sea level, seawater can encroach on the land, its salinity robbing the soil of fertility.

"Eye of Watatsumi"

NOTE: Runs concurrent to the "Fang," "Fin," and "Tail" quests
The "Eye of Watatsumi" is located on an island to the west, sealed by three Electro nodes that can only be found and destroyed through Elemental sight, which run the risk of encountering monsters attracted to the elemental disturbance.

"Fang of Watatsumi"

NOTE: Runs concurrent to the "Eye," "Fin, and "Tail" quests
The "Fang of Watatsumi" is located atop a cliff on the northwestern coast, which can only be unsealed after successfully defending a ley line monolith from waves of hilichurls and Treasure Hoarders.

"Fin of Watatsumi"

NOTE: Runs concurrent to the "Eye," "Fang," and "Tail" quests
The "Fin of Watatsumi" is located on a small island north of Watatsumi, where the Traveler must align fish statues surrounding a pair of stone circles to unseal the shrine.

"Tail of Watatsumi"

NOTE: Runs concurrent to the "Eye," "Fang," and "Fin" quests
The "Tail of Watatsumi" is located on a sandbar to the southeast, where the Traveler must light a series of Electro-powered lamps with energy from Electrograna, then repelling the Fatui.

"Heart of Watatsumi"

Prerequisite: Complete the four aforementioned quests
With all four Spirit Pearls collected, the Traveler reports back to Tsuyuko at Sangonomiya Shrine, who leads them to a cave on the east of the island, where they use the Pearls to break the seal to the cave; once inside, the Traveler finds the "Heart of Watatsumi," a large pearl-like object hanging over a stone basin, surrounded by four fish-statue circles not unlike the pair found near the "Fin". After activating the circles and defeating Hydro-elemental apparitions, the circles generate Hydro energy that converge around the pearl, which yields the Key to the Moon-Bathed Deep, which the Traveler immediately hands over to Tsuyuko, who informs them that their success at retrieving the key has made them honored guests of Watatsumi.

Solitary Sea-Beast

Released: v2.1 "Floating World Under the Moonlight" (September 1, 2021)
Kumi, a Watatsumi islander who has recently returned from her father's native Narukami, is reminiscing over the skeletal remains of Kuntira, a sea creature she considered her childhood friend and may have been the last of her kind. With the war between Watatsumi and Narukami impeding travel between both, she asks the Traveler to bring her Sakura Blooms from Narukami as an offering to her late friend. Afterwards, Kumi then asks her to find Anisa Pubiruni, a novice oceanographer from Sumeru who has yet to reach Bourou Village. After saving her from hilichurls, Anisa explains that she is researching monuments to Orobashi containing puzzles concealing offerings by worshippers in the meantime while she had to put her training to a halt due to the war between Watatsumi and the Shogunate. After clearing a nearby puzzle, the trio return to Kumi, to whom the Traveler gives the garland of Sakura Blooms to hang over the remains of Kuntira. Kumi and Anisa then bond over their shared interest in the sea, with the latter reassuring the former that, judging from her pelvic bone, Kuntira may have already given birth many times and traveled well before coming ashore to Watatsumi to die in peace. This gives Kumi an epiphany that she, too, ought to live well despite the recent troubles, which also inspires Anisa to stay in Watatsumi to some day find and befriend Kuntira's offspring.

The Still Water's Flow

Released: v2.4 "Fleeting Colors in Flight" (January 5, 2022)
Prerequisite Quest: "The Moon-Bathed Deep" (World Quest Series)
After a long while, the Traveler and Paimon decide to find Tsuyuko at the Sangonomiya Shrine and observe her preparations for the Watatsumi Goryou Omatsuri. The shrine maiden, however, admits that the Shrine is short-handed, what with most of the personnel busy normalizing relations with the Shogunate. Nevertheless, she tells them that, according to the island's tradition, a lone "hero" is meant to dive into Enkanomiya and obtain a branch of Jade Coral, and pitches that the Traveler assume the role, while bribing Paimon's participation with the promise of treasure.

Tsuyuko then invites the duo to head southeast to an ancient altar atop a rock over the winding river leading down to Enkanomiya, where she shows them a "Key Sigil," a diamond-like object which are used to release a secondary locking mechanism on the seal to Enkanomiya; the Sangonomiya Shrine has already found three of the five mechanisms, and hid away the Sigils from children, the Fatui, ronin, Shogunate forces, and other outsiders.

At Tsuyuko's direction, the Traveler finds the two other Sigils, hidden at the Fin and Heart of Watatsumi, which they found swarming with, respectively, Ruin machines and the Fatui. With both Key Sigils accounted for, the Traveler places them on the altars northeast and east of the Shrine, then report back to Tsuyuko, whose ancestor Eboshi was also a shrine maiden deeply connected to Byakuyakoku, who conducts the ritual to open Enkanomiya, whereupon the pool at the bottom of the river spiraling Watatsumi turns into a whirlpool, hands the Traveler the Key to the Moon-Bathed Deep, and wishes them the best of luck in their journey.

First, she asks the Traveler to retrieve a draft of sacred water from the Sangonomiya Shrine in liey of the shrine maidens, such as Tsuyuko, who she thinks are growing skeptical of their island's traditions. Upon returning to Komaki, she then asks them to retrieve a draft of pure water from a cave to the east of Watatsumi, occupied by a Hydro Hypostasis. Afterwards, Komaki pours the water onto the Spiritherbs, which glow with a healthy radiance, which she interprets as a fortunate sign for the island for the following year in spite of the ongoing unpleasantries with the Shogunate.

Komaki's Spiritherb Fortune

Released: v2.1 "Floating World Under the Moonlight" (September 1, 2021)

Komaki offers to tell the Traveler's fortune by reading tea leaves, from which she claims that good fortune awaits them at the highest point of Watatsumi, the ruins of Mouun Shrine, where they follow three Electro Seelies to open a treasure.

On the second day, Komaki warns them of an ill-fated encounter in a cave southwest of Bourou, yet overcoming it will yield an unexpected treasure. There they find Treasure Hoarders trying to excavate treasure believed to belong to the famed pirate Rinzou.

On the third day, Komaki informs them of good luck involving a gentle Electro Seelie guiding them to treasure near the deep pool in the heart of Watatsumi.

On the fourth day, Komaki tells them that today will see the Traveler have an ill-fated encounter on an abandoned shrine in a small island east of Watatsumi, but one that will yield treasure, which the Traveler discovers to involve a ronin.

On the fifth day, Komaki informs them of good fortune involving helping an Electro Seelie imprisoned inside Suigetsu Pool reach its nest.

Seirai Island

Far to the south of Narukami, Seirai has been uninhabited since around five hundred years ago following a calamity during which the entire island was enveloped by a rain of thunderbolts, remnants of the power of a birdlike spirit that flew on a rampage until it was slain by the Raiden Shogun centuries earlier. At an island to the northwest lay the ghost village of Koseki as well as the shipwreck of the Seiraimaru, the flagship of the famed pirate Ako Domeki who staged a rebellion against the Shogunate a few years after the great cataclysm. West of this island is Asase Shrine, the only serene part of the island group, built to contain the lingering curse, tended to by a talking cat named Neko. Opposite the island of Koseki is another island containing the ruins of Fort Hiraumi. Atop Amakumo Peak, the summit of the island, is a stone platform wherein the curse manifests as another birdlike creature, while the lake below the summit conceals an underground ruin.

    Seirai Stormchasers
Released: v2.1 "Floating World Under the Moonlight" (September 1, 2021)

Seirai Stormchasers: Part I

In the Inazuma Adventurers' Guild, Katheryne informs the Traveler of the Guild's recent expedition to Seirai, an island far to the south of Narukami blighted by a perpetual thunderstorm. As the storm has impeded the progress of Eiko and Taisuke, two Adventurers sent to lead the expedition, Katheryne asks the Traveler to join the duo in clearing the storm.

Upon reaching Seirai, the Traveler meets Eiko, who informs them that almost the entire island is blighted by Balethunder, as if to rebuff anyone who dares go to the center, while Taisuke is out investigating "Warding Stones" he believes were related to the storms. The Traveler and Eiko then find Taisuke investigating one such Stone, albeit damaged, southwest of the ghost village of Koseki. While they have little clues as to how to repair the Stones, they notice cat footprints, which Eiko asks the Traveler to trace while she and Taisuke stay near the Stone.

The tracks lead them south to a dilapidated shrine on a small island enjoying better weather than the rest of Seirai. There they meet Neko, a talking cat and self-proclaimed provisional head priestess of Asase Shrine, who has been instructing her fellow cats to observe the Warding Stones. In exchange for information on operating the Warding Stones, Neko asks the Traveler to help keep the Shrine in good condition lest Asase Hibiki, her master and original head of the Shrine, grieve over its state should she return after she and her fellow islanders disappeared following a great storm, starting with repairing the offering box. At Neko's instructions, the Traveler and Paimon head north to Koseki to gather materials while repelling Treasure Hoarders there. After repairing the box, Neko informs them that there are four Warding Stones, set up by Hibiki as a seal to a great bird that once terrorized Seirai, against whom the Asase Shrine has been established to contain its power, and gives the Traveler instructions on operating the Stones to reactivate the seals as well as a rough map of their locations.

Afterwards, the Traveler and Paimon return to Eiko and Taisuke to inform them on what they learned from Neko. Before Taisuke loses himself in fascination over the talking cat, Eiko has to remind him of their mission. The Traveler fills them in on the need to reactivate the Warding Stones, which they do so by activating three paper charms surrounding the Stone and then rotating the pile to align to them; afterwards, the area of the storms gradually recede.

Seirai Stormchasers: Part II

The second Warding Stone is located at the eastern side of Seirai, which they find surrounded by Kairagis. Two of the charms are located next to the Stone, while the third is located on an island to the northeast.

Seirai Stormchasers: Part III

Despite scouring the island, Eiko and Taisuke fail to find the two remaining Stones. Through using Phase Gates, teleportation portals scattered throughout the island, the Traveler discovers that the third Stone is located high up in a series of floating rocks, with two of its charms located elsewhere.

Seirai Stormchasers: Part IV

World Effect: Unlocks the Thunder Manifestation as a loot boss
With three Stones activated, Paimon finds that the floating rocks have begun to form a road for them, leading to the fourth Stone, this time with all three Charms around it. Activating it causes several rocks to coalesce into a giant stone platform hovering above Amakumo Peak, where the Traveler encounters the Thunder Manifestation, the fearsome birdlike spirit Neko warned them about. After barely defeating it, the Traveler further explores around and finds a strange feather, which they bring back down for Eiko and Taisuke to investigate. While they fail to identify the feather, they nevertheless promise to put up a commission in the future to help identify it. Taisuke, however, decides to tarry a while in favor of seeing Neko, much to Eiko's chagrin.

    Neko Is a Cat
Released: v2.1 "Floating World Under the Moonlight" (September 1, 2021)
Prerequisite Quest: "Seirai Stormchasers" (World Quest series)
NOTE: Subsequent stages are unlocked the following real-life day after completing the preceding one.

Neko Is a Cat: Shrine Cleanup

At Asase Shrine, Neko happily informs the Traveler that the repair of the offering box seemed to have worked now that the Shrine has new visitors, unaware that it is just Eiko and Taisuke taking a break from exploring Seirai before they return, as well as the latter indulging in his fascination with her. That said, she also thinks the Shrine needed some cleanup after several years of dilapidation, starting with sweeping the area of the Shrine like Hibiki and her old friend Ako Domeki did. As there is only so much she can do with her paws, she asks the Traveler to clean up on her behalf.

Neko Is a Cat: Wooden Shelf

The following day, Neko asks the Traveler to repair a wooden rack visitors to the Shrine frequent for reasons unknown to her, unaware that they hang their wishes engraved upon wooden plaques. After repairing the rack, and reporting back to Neko, the Traveler discusses the state of the Shrine with Eiko and Taisuke, who, while questioning Neko's rationale for repairing the Shrine given that it has been centuries since Seirai had a permanent population, nevertheless humor Neko by engraving their wishes for a comfortable life and success in adventuring, respectively, onto wooden plaques and hanging them on the rack.

Neko Is a Cat: The Children

On the third day, Neko asks the Traveler to find a pair of kittens that wandered off and are at risk from hilichurl and slime attacks: Hachihou, at a beach to the southwest, and Konbumaru, atop a dead tree behind the Shrine.

Neko Is a Cat: Shrine Recipe

On the fourth, Neko asks of the Traveler ideas for a dish for the kittens. At Eiko and Taisuke's suggestion, the Traveler consults Kiminami Anna at Inazuma City, who sends them again to find servings of Seagrass, with which she cooks a fish dish. Back at Seirai, Neko enjoys the meal despite it being different from the ones Hibiki used to cook for her, and asks the Traveler to also distribute it to the kittens.

Neko Is a Cat: Cat and Stone

On the fifth, Neko asks the Traveler to build a statue in her image, not unlike those of the kitsune in Narukami. At Eiko and Taisuke's suggestion, the Traveler scouts Tatarasuna islanders seeking employment after the Mikage Furnace was shut down following its overloading. There they find Ooshima Junpei, a craftsman and former worker at the Furnace who, upon verifying the Traveler's account of Neko, starts working on the statue, even as Neko is confused over such concepts as employment, salary, and money.

Neko Is a Cat: Stone Human's Troubles

On the sixth, Junpei broke his hammer and chisel, and so ask the Traveler to bring him iron ore to start building a makeshift forge so he can build or repair his tools.

Neko Is a Cat: Shrine Canteen

On the seventh, with the cat statue halfway done, Junpei asks the Traveler to bring him some fish and meat to cook.

Neko Is a Cat: Ding-a-Ling Metal Ball

On the eighth, Neko asks the Traveler to help her affix small bells onto the prayer rack, even as she is perplexed with Eiko and Taisuke's accounts of Ako Domeki being a notorious pirate, contrary to her recollections.

'''Neko Is a Cat: A "Good Turn" Comes Late

Finally, on the ninth day, the cat statue has been completed, and as Junpei chisels away the last piece in the presence of Neko, the Traveler, Paimon, Eiko, and Taisuke, a cat-shaped cloud appears in the sky, which the former interprets as a sign of Hibiki looking on the repaired Shrine with favor, giving her hope that one day Hibiki, Domeki, and their friends will return.

While Neko rejoices, Eiko and Taisuke express to the Traveler their intrigue over Seirai, revealing to them that, based on what few records exist of the island, centuries ago it used to be a refuge for pirates, including Domeki, who was an in he island when a sudden storm largely destroyed his fleet as well as that of the Shogunate pursuing him; remembering the Warding Stones, they hypothesize that the Stones may have been unsealed on purpose to deter the Shogunate fleet, and so Eiko and Taisuke choose to stay longer in Seirai to keep investigating it.

Relics of Seirai

Released: v2.1 "Floating World Under the Moonlight" (September 1, 2021)
In Koseki Village, the Traveler and Paimon repel some hilichurls attacking Fujiwara Toshiko, a descendant of the ancient islanders moved by the Shogunate onto Narukami following a calamity five hundred years ago, who has returned to retrieve treasure her ancestors left behind in their house. With the Traveler's help, Toshiko opens a series of mechanisms used to open the basement, then another one guarding the treasure, only to find nothing but a picture, to her dismay. Along the way to Toshiko's camp elsewhere on the island, the trio are accosted by Treasure Hoarders, ronin, and Fatui, who all assume that she had indeed found great treasure, forcing the Traveler to fend them off. Forlorn by the mundane find and the troubles she got into along the way, Toshiko compensates the Traveler for dragging them along on a seemingly pointless pursuit, even as she considers bringing the picture back to Narukami and ask for details from Oda Tarou, a fellow descendant of refugees from Seirai.

Reminiscence of Seirai

Released: v2.1 "Floating World Under the Moonlight" (September 1, 2021)
On a small shrine near the ruins of Fort Hiraumi east of Koseki, the Traveler and Paimon find a painting of parts of Seirai, which they bring back to Inazuma City to consult with Furuya Noboru, a veteran of the Inazuma Adventurers' Guild, who then recommends them to talk with Oda Tarou. Despite having not seen his ancestral homeland apart from three other paintings passed onto his family, Tarou felt a sense of homesickness upon seeing the painting; as he is busy operating his business, however, he has posted a commission to take photographs of the island and compare them with the paintings, which the Traveler accepts. Using the paintings for reference, the Traveler takes pictures of the same locations: the Statue of the Seven near Koseki Village, Asase Shrine, the wreckage of the ship Seiraimaru once captained by Ako Domeki, and the crater below Amakumo Peak. Upon returning to Narukami, Tarou is amazed at how little the island has changed in the centuries since his ancestors left.

The Narukami Trail'

Type: World Quest
Prerequisite: Complete "A Fishy Flavor," "Shrine Cleanup," or "The Cat's Trail" four times in total
Neko asks the Traveler about a great, fox-shaped tree with pink petals in a great shrine Hibiki used to tell her about. Intuiting what she is referring to, the Traveler brings her along to the Sacred Sakura at the Grand Narukami Shrine. There the Traveler, Paimon, and Neko ask Hotomi about Hibiki, who she claims was a historical figure from five hundred years ago, much to the confusion of Neko, who has no concept of time as humans understood it. According to Hotomi, Hibiki was part of the "Yougou Three" along with Kamuna Harunosuke and Mikoshi Nagamasa, who studied under the Kitsune Saiguu and the tengus of Mount Yougou, before parting ways following a calamity, with Harunosuke traveling west to study under the adepti in Liyue, Nagamasa settling in Narukami to serve under the Raiden Shogun, and Hibiki returning to Seirai. Lest they break Neko's heart, the Traveler and Paimon lie to her that Hibiki is simply elsewhere, before returning to Asase Shrine.

Tsurumi Island

Far to the southwest of Seirai lay Tsurumi, a mysterious island enshrouded in dense fog. A long road westward leads to the Moshiri Ceremonial Site, where an ancient civilization worshipped the thunderbird goddess Kanna Kapatcir, who they believe to roost at Mount Kanna looming overhead. At the southward road round Mount Kanna is Wakukau Shoal, where a dangerous wolf-like creature lives; beyond that, along the western face of the mountain, is Autake Plain, which leads further north to Shirikoro Peak, located next to Chirai Shrine, which can be accessed from a branch of the road to the Site, both of which lead to underground ruins occupied by an even earlier civilization.

A Particularly Particular Author

At the Inazuma Adventurers' Guild, Katheryne offers the Traveler a commission from Sumida, a novelist and aspiring entrant for this year's upcoming This Novel is Amazing! competition. Upon meeting her at the path to Hanamizaka, she tells them that she is hiring adventurers to journey to the fog-shrouded island of Tsurumi, southwest of Seirai, and help her gather reference material for her entry, a novel about an outlander visiting the island, in particular the "Maushiro," a musical instrument used by the ancient islanders millennia ago. Despite having nearly died during her previous expedition, Sumida is determined to win, and has the Traveler relay a letter to Kama, a boatman in Ritou who once ferried Sumida during her previous expedition, asking him to take the Traveler to Ritou in her place.

Upon reaching Tsurumi, the Traveler and Paimon are instructed by Kama to head west through a ceremonial gate lest they get lost in the fog. Upon doing as he instructed, the fog partially clears, enough for the Traveler and Paimon to sight a litle boy next to a tree. Introducing himself as Ruu, he invites the Traveler and Paimon to a great festival, much to the duo's confusion, having learned from Sumida that Tsurumi was supposed to have been depopulated millennia ago.

Along the way, the trio meet Ipe and Makiri, two other islanders who are busy hanging offerings on Perches, sacred trees upon which the island's thunderbird deity once descended. At their instruction, the Traveler finds feathers believed to absorb foreign energy as offerings to the Perches, whereupon they grow otherworldly blue foliage. Afterwards, Ruu asks them to go ahead to the festivities while continues to make preparations for the arrival of Kanna Kapatcir, the goddess of the island who the islanders believe enshrouded Tsurumi with a fog to protect it from external threats.

The Traveler and Paimon head further west to the Moshiri Ceremonial Site, where they meet Uncle Mata, high priest of the island, who notes that three other Perches have yet to be prepared, to which the Traveler volunteers to inspect, even as even as they wonder at the islanders' strange behavior. They find the three other perches at Autake Plain to the west, Shirikoro Peak to the north, and Chirai Shrine to the northeast, around which the fog is thicker, with first swarming with rifthounds, wolflike creatures that emit Abyssal energy, and the other two requiring the exploration of ruins apparently hailing from an even earlier civilization; each time they present offerings to the Perches, Ruu appears to inspect their progress.

Once all four Perches are accounted for, the Traveler and Paimon return to Moshiri, only to find it strangely empty save for the Maushiro, which they pick up. The duo return to Kama, who ferries them back to Ritou. Upon traveling back to Inazuma City and meeting Sumida, however, the Traveler realizes that the Maushiro is gone. Sumida takes it in stride, revealing that she also sent other veteran adventurers to search the Maushiro, all of whom experienced the same predicament; she then decides to contact the adventurers she previously hired so they can brainstorm their next step.

Octave of the Maushiro

The following day, the Traveler and Paimon meet Sumida's previous hires, such as Bantan Sango, Ryuuji, and Roald, a veteran of the Mondstadt Adventurers' Guild. The other three share similar experiences of encountering Ruu and obtaining then losing the Maushiro, with Roald suggesting that they head back to Tsurumi to retrieve a diary he forgot there, on the hopes that he may have written of the Maushiro. Sango goes off-topic to express concern over the fact that they have seen people in Tsurumi, when it was supposed to have been depopulated thousands of years ago following a disaster, additionaly noting similarities between ley line disruptions in Tsurumi and Seirai.

Upon returning to Tsurumi, the Traveler and Paimon, with Ryuuji and Roald joining the trip, immediately reunite with Ruu, who relates the tale of the origin of the Maushiro as being based on the feathers of Kanna Kapatcir, which would produce melodious sounds whenever they are used like wind instruments. The Traveler then remembers the pinion they found at Seirai and takes it out, finding it surging with energy, confirming it to be one of Kanna Kapatcir's feathers; while they don't think it is the the one requested by Sumida, Ruu nevertheless thinks it may bear unique abilities.

The Traveler tests the pinion on a mysterious carving, from which emerges the specter of a man who bore a strong resemblance to Kama burying something and expressing his intent to leave Tsurumi. After viewing the memory, Ruu leaves to continue preparations and asks the Traveler and Paimon to meet Uncle Mata anew. Once he left, the duo then dig up the item the Kama lookalike buried, which happens to be a Maushiro. Before returning to the rest of the expedition team, the duo decide to indulge Ruu and revisit the Moshiri Ceremonial Site, this time full of celebrants. While eavesdropping on them, who does not seem to mind the Traveler and Paimon, they hear Uncle Mata learning that Ruu, who will play an important role in the ceremony, has yet to arrive. Based on clues from eavesdropping on the locals, the Traveler and Paimon try to find Ruu on three of his favorite hangouts, Wakukau Shoal, Oina Beach, and Autake Plains. Despite their best efforts, the duo find no sign of Ruu but plenty of visions of the other islanders. Even more bafflingly, they return to a now-empty Moshiri, leading them to realize that something is wrong with the island.

Back at Inazuma City, the Traveler and Paimon report back to Sumida, where they present her the Maushiro. Though the commission is complete at this point, Sumida has grown interested in the island beyond as reference for her novel, and asks the Traveler to tell her everything they saw to date. An intrigued Sumida decides to extend the commission so she and the Traveler can continue investigating Tsurumi.

The Sea of Fog and the Rite of the Trees

The following day, the Traveler and Paimon meet Kama at the docks of Ritou, who might know something about Tsurumi. The boatman reveals that he is a distant descendant of the islanders, and assumes that the Kama lookalike they saw earlier must be his ancestor, who according to his family's oral tradition fled to Seirai, then to Kannazuka, and finally to Ritou, out of disagreement with the islands' elders over sacrificing a child favored by Kanna Kapatcir. Furthermore, he reveals that, based on a previous visit with his late father, the people they saw in the island are but apparitions of the past, perpetually living out the day of the sacrifice due to ley line disruptions caused by Kanna Kapatcir going on a rampage, destroying Tsurumi before she was felled by the Raiden Shogun at Seirai, explaining why the people seem unresponsive to them and the Maushiro kept disappearing save for the one they excavated earlier. Kama then notes that the one person seemingly able to communicate to outsiders was the aforementioned human sacrifice, who he suspects might be Ruu, and despite his warnings that the people are specters, Paimon insists on saving Ruu from his grisly fate.

Returning to Tsurumi, the Traveler and Paimon and try to find Ruu at where they first met him, to no avail. Remembering the islanders' remarks about how the Perches are a key element of the ceremony of sacrifice, Paimon suggests destroying them to delay the ceremony. Once all four Perches are destroyed, the Traveler and Paimon decide to find Ruu at the Moshiri Ceremonial Site, remembering how he wanted to participate in the ceremony and unwittingly walk to his doom.

At the site, however, the duo discover the weather worsening, the skies illuminated by crimson lightning, forcing them to flee elsewhere, where they find Ruu, who scolds them for angering Kanna Kapatcir by destroying the Perches, ruining the ceremony which he believes would dissipate the lightning strikes that plague almost all the island except Wakukau, Oina, and Autake, thinking that the recurrence of the storms meant the ceremony was not done properly and that he was the one meant to do it right, before storming off.

Dismayed at the turn of events, the Traveler and Paimon report back to Sumida who, upon hearing of their experiences, proposes using it as a plot point for her novel as a tragedy born of misunderstanding by Ruu and the island's priests deciding that sacrificing the former to Kanna Kapatcir would appease her when all she wanted is the boy's friendship, before returning to the topic and, realizing that Kanna Kapatcir had been vanquished by the Raiden Shogun long ago, and Ruu is but a phantasm, ridding the island of its curse might take unusual methods. They then consult Kama at Ritou, where, upon hearing of his background, Sumida pitches her plot point about a native of Tsurumi returning home to lift its centuries-old curse by assuming the guise of one of the ancient islanders. Though Kama expresses skepticism over her pitch doing well in the competition, the Traveler and Paimon take note of their discussion and proposes to each other to try them in their next expedition.

The Sun-Wheel and Mt. Kanna

The following day, the Traveler and Paimon return once more to Tsurumi, and are surprised to find that Kama has gone ahead of them. Though he has little attachment to the island, he is compelled to come for a variety of reasons, ranging between embarrassment at doing little while the Traveler did much of the work, empathy for the suffering of the islanders however illusory they are, and an obligation to pick up where his ancestor left off and help Ruu. Remembering Ruu's remarks about Wakukau, Oina, and Autake being unaffected by the lightning strikes, as well as Sumida's story pitch, the trio try to find Ruu on the three aforementioned locations and reach out to him through Kama.

The trio start their search for Ruu at Wakukau Shoal, where they hear a voice searching for something. The Traveler tries using the pinion on a mysterious carving, which, after defeating hilichurls, generates another feather, which seems reveal to the Traveler a record of Kanna Kapatcir's memories of descending on a fog-shrouded island and hearing a beautiful song before flying off. With little time until the thunderstorm stops and the cycle begins again, and Ruu nowhere in sight, the trio resume their search, this time to Oina Beach.

There, after hearing another voice frantically searching, the Traveler uses the pinion again on another mysterious carving, which, after defeating Ruin machines, reveals another feather recording Kanna Kapatcir's memory of her bafflement at the islanders collecting feathers she shed before flying off. Judging from the direction of the feathers, Kama suspects that they flew to Mount Kanna, a hollowed-out mountain at the center of Tsurumi where she reposed, while the Traveler recounts their vision, disproving the islanders' belief that she created the fog.

At Autake Plains, the trio hear the voice again, this time calling Ruu by name. After defeating rifthounds, they finally find Ruu, who is still upset at the destruction of the Perches. To try to win him over anew, the Traveler introduces Kama to him, who informs Ruu that the Kama he knew—his ancestor—has lived a full life beyond the island apart from a regret that he failed to save Ruu. When the boy tries to resume repairing the Perches, the Traveler interjects and claims that the ceremony may not be what Kanna Kapatcir wanted, and uses their pinion on another of the goddess's feathers.

The four had a vision of Kanna Kapatcir's first meeting with Ruu, who was practicing his singing as part of the islanders' efforts to quell the violent weather. Intrigued by the music, she asks him to sing for her again, and when Ruu learns that she does not have a name, he names her "Kanna Kapatcir," the "Great Eagle of the Storm" in the local language. Once the feather flew away, Ruu is still baffled at the ceremony failing to appease Kanna Kapatcir, so Kama suggests that the group bring him to Mount Kanna despite it being sacred ground.

Inside the mountain hollow, the group sees an altar, as well as another Thunder Manifestation. During their battle, the Traveler hears the voice anew, anguished at failing to hear Ruu's song. After defeating it, the Traveler and Paimon suspect that the Thunder Manifestations they fought here and in Seirai may be connected to Kanna Kapatcir, and so the former uses the same pinion they found at the latter island on another feather. There they had a vision of Kanna Kapatcir, furious over failing to hear Ruu's song, condemning Tsurumi to an eternal catastrophe. After the feather flies up, Ruu realizes that the goddess was not so much angry at the ceremony not being done right as much as him failing to sing to her. Lacking the heart to outright tell him that Kanna Kapatcir is dead, the duo instead lie to him that she has retired to Seirai, and that they can bring him there to sing to his divine friend. Afterwards, the Traveler and Paimon, convening with Kama, propose using the pinion to sustain Ruu's life force while he is away.

Arriving at Seirai, the Traveler bluffs that Kanna Kapatcir is busy rearing her younglings atop Amakumo Peak, where in truth they fought another Thunder Manifestation, so she cannot come to him, though they assure him that she can still hear him sing atop the cliff where the first Warding Stone was located. Ruu, however, reveals that he has already become aware of what happened to him and Kanna Kapatcir; nevertheless, he thanks the duo for letting him explore the outside world, and offers a song to his divine friend one last time as he receives another feather.

Back at Tsurumi, its skies now clear, Ruu offers his feather to the altar at Mount Kanna. He then thanks the Traveler and Paimon for introducing him to the outside world and apologizes for the earlier misunderstanding, and promises to rejoin them once he is well-rested, a bittersweet notion for them knowing that, with the curse lifted, he will soon disappear.

Returning to Ritou, the Traveler and Paimon report back to Sumida, who they see being incredulous with Kama's account of events in Tsurumi, and who offers the duo a dinner at Kiminami Restaurant as a reward. After discussing their experiences, Sumida, awestruck and humbled at everything she learned, decides to postpone her novel, realizing that she cannot just live, learn, and travel for the sake of writing novels as much as to gain experiences from which she can take inspiration for her works. She then invites Kama, a veteran at smuggling people in and out of Ritou, to join her adventures beyond Inazuma, and bids the Traveler and Paimon farewell until they meet again somewhere in Teyvat.

The Saga of Mr. Forgetful

Released: v2.2 "Into the Perilous Labyrinth of Fog" (October 13, 2021)
Prerequisite: "Octave of the Maushiro" ("Through the Mists" [World Quest Series], Part 2)
The Traveler and Paimon are surprised that Roald is still on Tsurumi, having lost his way through the fog due to his chronic forgetfulness causing him to miss the ceremonial gate Kama recommends visitors to pass through. Suddenly he remembers that he was on a commission from Sango to collect Fluorescent Fungi which can help improve memory. After procuring him some fungi, Roald also asks the Traveler to take pictures of murals on underground ruins connecting Shirikoro Peak and Chirai Shrine. Upon giving him the pictures, Roald notes the unusual lack of evidence of worship of Kanna Kapatcir in the murals, leading him to suspect the existence of an even earlier civilization before the one that worshipped the thunderbird.

Hidden Exploration Objectives

The "Boatman" and the Shades of Tsurumi (Pseudo-series)
Released: v2.2 "Into the Perilous Labyrinth of Fog" (October 13, 2021)
Prerequisite: "Through the Mists" (World Quest Series)
NOTE: All objectives, apart from "'Boatman's' Task", run concurrent with each other

"Boatman"'s Task

On the southeastern corner of Shirikoro Peak, the Traveler and Paimon meet the spectral form of a man barking on people to board his boat. As if vaguely aware of their existence, he denies them entry to his "shining silver skiff" that sails to the afterlife, even as he bemoans the tardiness of some of his passengers inviting the wrath of the "lady of the golden hall." Through clues he provides, the Traveler meet some of the spirits who are spposed to be onboard.

Abe's Fungi Needs

NOTE: The second part occurs after two real-life days, during which Fluorescent Fungi will respawn
As the Traveler picks up Fluorescent Fungi in the ruins underneath Chirai Shrine, the specter of Abe, a farmer, scolds them for touching them, which Paimon dismisses as an illusion. Two days later, they return to pick the Fungi and spook Abe by claiming to be evil spirits who inform him that the Thunderbird is long gone and it is his time to leave. Before he leaves, he asks the Traveler to give him foreign mushrooms to bring with him.

A Gift to Shitoki, Wrapped in Conches

At the eastern end of Tsurumi, the Traveler encounters the specter of Shitoki, who has been looking for his brother's treasure, hidden when he left the island, the clues to which are provided in fragments of a treasure map hidden in conches found next to Shitoki, north of the Moshiri Ceremonial Site, west of Autake Plains, and in the cave below Shirikoro Peak. Upon collecting the fragments, Shitoki bequeaths the treasure to the Traveler, hidden next to the altar of Mount Kanna.

Ipe's Fishing Advice

While fishing at night near Chirai Shrine, the Traveler is surprised by the specter of Ipe, who claims to have lost a charm Makiri gave him while fishing west of Autake Plains. Using a pinion on a bird statue reveals another fishing spot, from which they fish the charm, which they give to him.

Lightning Chise's Path

At Autake Plains, the Traveler finds the specter of Chise, a young woman troubled by her inability to cross through the fog and into the silver boat, despite the fact that the Traveler has already cleared it earlier. To help her find her way, the Traveler lights up a series of Stormstones, lamps powered by Electro.

Kito and Kina's Request

On a small island west of Autake Plains, the Traveler chances upon the specters of Kito and Kina, a pair of young children foraging for Sakura Blooms to give to their grandmother, Una, to bring with her on the silver boat. The Traveler subsequently meets them again below a tall rock southwest of Chirai Shrine, then next to a hilichurl camp at Autake Plains, and then next to a waterfall southwest of Autake, each time giving them Sakura Blooms. Finally, the Traveler meets them in their hideout, a cave southeast of Oina Beach, where the spectral children give them a sachet to give to Una to convince her to join their journey to the afterlife.

Nonno's Hide and Seek

In Chirai Shrine, the Traveler meets the specter of Nonno, a young girl who invites them to play a game of hide-and-seek around the Shrine, indulging her desire to have fun in Tsurumi one last time before she joins the boat trip to the afterlife.

Rero's Joke

Underneath a tree south of Chirai Shrine, the Traveler meets the specter of Rero, an elderly man who has suffered many misfortunes in life, who asks them to help him excavate the grave of his wife at the Shrine and retrieve a golden ring to bring with him. Instead of the golden ring, however, the Traveler triggers a trap unleashing a lawachurl. After defeating it, Rero appears and reveals that he pulled a prank on them as he and his late wife Chikapu used to do together, much to their irritation.

Una's Longing

Prerequisite Quest: "Kito and Kina's Request" (Hidden Exploration Objective)
NOTE: Each successive stage becomes available the following real-life day
At a small shrine north of the Moshiri Ceremonial Site, the Traveler encounters the specter of Una, who mistakes them for Kito and Kina, and gives them Sakura Blooms. This encounters repeats over the next four days, each time ending with Una giving them Sakura Blooms, during which she mistakes them for Abe on the third, and on the fourth, realizing that the Traveler is a stranger, tells them of her husband who sailed outside the island, only to die on his journey home with some Blooms. Finally, on the fifth day, she realizes that she is soon to depart; the Traveler then gives her the sachet they received from Kito and Kina, which she interprets as a sign that they have gone ahead of her.

"Boatman"'s Task (conclusion)

Prerequisite: Complete the above-mentioned objectives
With all passengers accounted for, the "Boatman" is finally ready to ferry them to the afterlife, and thanks the Traveler for their assistance, and he and his passengers travel to the great beyond in a beautiful array of light.

Enkanomiya

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/emblem_enkanomiya.png
Underneath Watatsumi is the underground nation of Enkanomiya, variously known as Byakuyakoku and Tokoyo, from which the people of Enkanomiya trace their origins, and from which they escaped with the help of Orobashi from the Bathysmal Vishaps, draconic creatures which loathed the light. Dominating this nation is the Dainichi Mikoshi, a tower atop which sits an artificial sun created to ward off the Vishaps. Surrounding the tower are the Narrows to the northwest (which also connect to the Serpent's Bowels, the main access from Watatsumi), Evernight Temple to the east, and the Serpent's Heart to the southwest. In turn, these areas also contain portals to, respectively, the Loci of Yachimatahiko, Yachimatahime, and Kunado, three towers that serve as the boundaries of the nation.

World Quests

From Dusk to Dawn in Byakuyakoku
Released: v2.4 "Fleeting Colors in Flight" (January 5, 2022)
Prerequisite Quest: "The Still Water's Flow" (World)

The Entrance to Tokoyo

After a long plunge, the Traveler and Paimon reach Enkanomiya, with the latter remarking with some disappointment that the first place they landed looked no different from the caves they used to visit, save for the presence of Vishap-like creatures. Upon further exploring the cave, however, they find a ceremonial gate with five sigils. Intuiting their purpose, the Traveler finds and activates matching sigils found throughout the cave. Afterwards, the Traveler activates the mechanism next to the ceremonial gate, which reveals a long pathway, at the end of which is another gate, which the Traveler opens with Key of the Moon-Bathed Deep, revealing a series of islands floating over a fog-enshrouded abyss, dominated by a lighthouse-like tower.

The Subterranean Trials of Drake and Serpent

From the series of caves known as the Serpent's Bowels, the Traveler and Paimon glide east to the Narrows, where, heading east, they are surprised to find the Abyss Order already congregated in front of a ruin. After defeating them, the Traveler opens the mechanism leading to inside the ruin, where they find a library and, to their further surprise, a man who introduces himself as Enjou, a scholar affiliated with Watatsumi, whose presence raises some suspicion from the Traveler, given intel from Tsuyuko that she has yet to gather assistants.

Citing his knowledge in the language of Byakuyakoku, as Enkanomiya was known in its heyday, he has deciphered the texts in the library to reveal that their trial involves a pilgrimage to Dainichi Mikoshi, the great tower and artificial sun of Enkanomiya, which can be unsealed by bringing the "Golden Bridle," a device so-named due to local legends about the sun and moon being pulled by the chariot of the gods.

At Enjou's direction, the Traveler finds a dull crystalline device from a small building north of the library, which they present to Enjou. While working on the device, the scholar tells the story of Aberaku no Mikoto, a craftsman who created the Dainichi Mikoshi to bring light to Byakuyakoku and repel Bathysmal Vishaps, the creatures the Traveler encountered earlier who live in the dark and loathe the light. After some tinkering, Enjou was able to activate the device, the aformentioned Golden Bridle, and suggests that the Traveler take a spiraling route onto the Dainichi Mikoshi before immediately rushing off, further raising suspicions from the Traveler and Paimon, especially with his habit of telling them that they can attack him to prove to them that he is not shady.

At the southwestern entrance to the Dainichi Mikoshi, the Traveler and Paimon catch up to Enjou, who uses the Golden Bridle to deactivate the seal, allowing them to further progress. Inside the great tower, the Traveler and Paimon find a mechanism on top of a short flight of stairs, with Enjou already waiting there. Upon touching the device, the light of the Dainichi Mikoshi fades away, plunging Enkanomiya into deep darkness.

The trio then encounter a ghost which Enjou identifies as "Sinshades" or "Shades of Tokoyo," spectral visions of the people of Byakuyakoku visible only whenever Enkanomiya is darkened. The Sinshade identifies himself as Aru, or Argos as he was known in Byakuyakoku, who is in charge of the next step of the "hero"'s trial, namely by finding the fragments of the "Reins of Revival," a national treasure said to command the spirits of Tokoyo, as Enkanomiya/Byakuyakoku is known in its night state, to speak, and reassemble with the Golden Bridle to display the "hero"'s royal right over the land. He then points to the locations of the fragments: in the Narrows, the Evernight Temple to the east, and at Serpent's Heart, the last island the Traveler walked into before reaching that of the Dainichi Mikoshi. Before leaving, Aru informs the Traveler that they will meet more Sinshades like himself, then warns them that they cannot tell them that they are but specters, lest they disappear. Enjou chooses to stay behind, but not before musing to the Traveler that the rulers of Byakuyakoku could have imposed a day-and-night cycle by manipulating the Dainichi Mikoshi, or Hyperion in the local tongue, creating the alternating states of Whitenight and Evernight, and how the people of Byakuyakoku worshipped triangular forms, believing their land to stand on the juncture between the realms of Vishaps, Humanity, and the Void, symbolically protected by the three trial sites on the borders.

The Trail of Drake and Serpent

NOTE: Runs concurrent with "The Heart of Ouroboros" and "Dreams in the Gaps"
East of the Dainichi Mikoshi is he Evernight Temple, whose gates will only open when the Dainichi Mikoshi is turned off. At Aru's instructions, the Traveler will find the way by following trails left behind by Bathysmal Vishaps, at the end of which is the fragment surrounded by Rifthounds, forcing the Traveler to deal with them beforehand.

The Heart of Ouroboros

NOTE: Runs concurrent with "The Trail of Drake and Serpent" and "Dreams in the Gaps"
At the western side of the Serpent's Heart lay a shrine believed to be the heart of Ouroboros, a cosmic serpent worshipped by the people of Byakuyakoku long before the arrival of Orobashi, where a fragment can be obtained by touching five phantasmal sigil gates in a particular order, again requiring the Traveler to use the Golden Bridle to manipulate the Dainichi Mikoshi from selected control mechanism scattered throughout Enkanomiya.

Dreams in the Gaps

NOTE: Runs concurrent with "The Trail of Drake and Serpent" and "The Heart of Ouroboros"
Retracing their steps in the Narrows, the Traveler finds a fragment in a hall below the library, which can be accessed by coming into contact with Places of Essence Worship, which bestow Suncores or Mooncruxes that give the Traveler the ability to activate mechanisms otherwise only accesible in the opposite day/night phase.

The Subterranean Trials of Drake and Serpent (conclusion)

Prerequisite Quests: "The Trail of Drake and Serpent," "The Heart of Ouroboros," and "Dreams in the Gaps"
With all three fragments collected, the Traveler and Paimon return to the Dainichi Mikoshi to submit them and the Golden Bridle to Aru, who then informs them that the Bloodbranch Coral needed for the Watatsumi Goryou Omatsuri can be extracted from mutant Bathysmal Vishaps sealed underneath the Dainichi Mikoshi, cultivated to grow Bloodbranch Corals on their bodies, accessible only by reassembling the four components into the Reins of Recovery. When Paimon notices that Enjou is missing, Aru warns the duo to be wary of him, having seen him leave the Dainichi Mikoshi with a displeased look on his face and witnessing him use a special art that indicates that he is neither from Enkanomiya nor Watatsumi. Aru begins the ritual by reading a blessing that recounts how the Watatsumi Omikami, as Orobashi is also known, is going to its death by shouldering the transgressions of its people and facing their respective punishments, then warns the Traveler not to tell anyone of their trial.

After the Traveler defeats the Vishaps, they are surprised to find that Enjou has tailed them underneath the Dainichi Mikoshi. He reveals that is actually an agent of the Abyss Order, sent to search for records of the history of the world long before the construction of the Dainichi Mikoshi and even the time of the gods, to serve as proof of their belief that the gods and Celestia came from beyond the stars, in addition to revealing that Orobashi was condemned to death by Celestia for accidentally gaining access to the records, leading it to wage war against the Shogunate to provoke the Raiden Shogun into killing it, both to cover up the truth it discovered and to save its people from calamity. Disappointed at the Traveler and Paimon's blasé reaction to his betrayal, having long suspected him, "Enjou" reveals himself as an Abyss Lector and challenges them to a duel, which the Traveler easily wins but spares him.

When Paimon still wonders why he chose to attack the Traveler, "Enjou" concocts a hurricane of excuses, such as avenging his comrades felled by the Traveler and how the Abyss is at odds with surface-dwellers like them, before admitting that he has little motivation beyond merely finding the records. He then leaves the duo in peace, even as he warns the Traveler that Paimon may some day turn on them, which the latter rebuffs as projection on his part.

With "Enjou" out of the way, the Traveler retrieves the Bloodbranch Coral and reports back to Tsuyuko at the Sangonomiya Shrine and submit the Bloodbranch Coral. Alarmed at the news that the Abyss Order has also reached Enkanomiya, Tsuyuko proposes to inform Kokomi, who is also about to reappear in public in time for the Watatsumi Goryou Omatsuri.

    Erebos' Secret
Released: v2.4 "Fleeting Colors in Flight" (January 5, 2022)
Prerequisite Quest: "From Dusk to Dawn in Byakuyakoku" (World Quest Series)

The Three Great Martial Trials

World Effect: Reveals Yachimatahiko's Locus, Yachimatahime's Locus, and Kunado's Locus on the map of Enkanomiya
Continuing their journey into Enkanomiya after handing over the Bloodbranch Coral to Tsuyuko, the Traveler and Paimon find the Sinshade of Eboshi, or Erebos in the local tongue, a shrine maiden of Enkanomiya and auxiliary to Sangonomiya, as well as the aforementioned ancestor of Tsuyuko, who realizes that her appearance meant that the Bloodbranch Coral has been delivered to the Sangonomiya Shrine. After going on a tangent explaining the early history of the people of Watatsumi, and how they established diplomatic relations with the Shogunate, she reveals that she is in Enkanomiya as part of an arrangement brokered by Orobashi following a disagreement with the Sangonomiya shrine maiden of her time over her decision to keep the truth about the Watatsumi islanders' history secret: the "hero's trial" was meant to limit the number of people who can learn them, while she is permitted by Orobashi to disclose them to anyone who can pass her own set of trials.

At Eboshi's summons, three small islands emerge from the foggy abyss, which Eboshi claims can be reached by visiting Emanant Skylights, three pools of water where "Ghostfishes" emanate during Evernight to carry them up to portals high up in the sky and lead them to their trials, where they will be guided by the Jibashiri, the law enforcement body of Enkanomiya, to a trial wherein they will obtain four "Flames of the High Gate" to be ofered to altars in the "Towers of the Three Realms" that serve as the boundary of Enkanomiya.

The Three Great Martial Trials (conclusion)

Prerequisite Quests: "Yachimatahiko's Trial," "Yachimatahime's Trial," and "Kunado's Trial"
With all three trials passed, the Traveler earns the right to learn of Enkanomiya's history from Eboshi on the condition that they keep everything they learn secret from the outside world. They learn that the Bathysmal Vishaps are dangerously intelligent creatures who have assumed different elemental forms in their war against the humans of Enkanomiya, and who are responsible for the Holy Soil phenomenon, which is an expansion of their habitat; that the Watatsumi Omikami, now known as Orobashi, first descended onto Byakuyakoku after a series of misfortunes and ruled with great benevolence before Celestia condemned it to sacrifice itself—at the hands of the Raiden Shogun—after it discovered a forbidden truth; that, long ago, Teyvat once prospered under a single culure before a great war led to a major cataclysm, amongst which was Byakuyakoku sinking below the seas, with Celestia condemning those who still remember the time before the cataclysm to go down with it; and that Aberaku no Mikoto, creator of the Dainichi Mikoshi, is named Abrax in the local tongue.

    Hyperion's Dirge
Released: v2.4 "Fleeting Colors in Flight" (January 5, 2022)
Prerequisite Quest: "From Dusk to Dawn in Byakuyakoku" (World Quest Series)

Hyperion's Dirge

At the foot of the Dainichi Mikoshi, the Traveler and Paimon meet the Sinshade of Aberaku no Mikoto, its creator, who recognizes it under its original name "Helios," the term "Hyperion" being but the artificial sun at the top. Aberaku laments how the people of Byakuyakoku responded to his generosity by betraying, arresting, and imprisoning him, and how after his death his soul was scattered on three different locations throughout the land: the Narrows, the Evernight Temple, and the Serpent's Heart. He asks the Traveler to gather these fragments of his soul, so that he can finally find rest.

Narrow Inquiry

NOTE: Runs concurrent with "Temple Inquiry" and "Serpent's Heart Inquiry"
At the ruins of a small shrine at the northwest of the Narrows, the Traveler and Paimon encounter Aberaku again, expressing pride in his creation, the Dainichi Mikoshi, bringing light to the people of Byakuyakoku and protecting them from the Bathysmal Vishaps, before realizing that his soul has been shattered and has to be made whole by collecting his bones inside the shrine, protected by three Bathysmal Vishaps.

Temple Inquiry

NOTE: Runs concurrent with "Narrow Inquiry" and "Serpent's Heart Inquiry"
At another shrine in the center of Evernight Temple, the duo find a shard of Aberaku's soul, decrying his imprisonment on orders from a young boy, condemned to imprisonment in a very high place, though he does not blame him as much as the people surrounding him. He then remembers that his crown was placed in this shrine, guarded by Rifthounds.

Serpent's Heart Inquiry

NOTE: Runs concurrent with "Narrow Inquiry" and "Temple Inquiry"
At the shrine at the south of the Serpent's Heart, the duo meet Aberaku once again, who explains how the Dainichi Mikoshi was built to repel the "Dragonheirs of the Depths," now known as the Bathysmal Vishaps, only to be repaid for his contributions with betrayal. Recollecting his thoughts, he asks them to retrieve his robes, guarded by Abyss Mages.

Hyperion's Dirge (conclusion)

Prerequisite Quests: "Narrow Inquiry," "Temple Inquiry," and "Serpent's Heart Inquiry"
With the fragments of Aberaku's soul gathered together, the Traveler and Paimon offers them before a shrine at the base of the Dainichi Mikoshi, which creates a triangular stone platform high above Hyperion and a warp portal leading up. There, the Traveler and Paimon encounter Aberaku, his memories made whole again. He recounts a time when the people of Byakuyakoku lived in pitch-black darkness and fear of the Dragonheirs of the Depths, until Aberaku constructed the Dainichi Mikoshi, repelled the monsters, and heralded a new era of peace. However, it did not take long before corrupt elements of the society led the people to worship his artificial sun and install very young puppet kings called the "Sunchildren," one of whom would condemn him for treason on orders of his handlers. Furthermore, none of the Sunchildren ever grow to maturity because, once they come of age, they ostensibly attend a feast where they ride Hyperion on their birthday—a euphemism for being burnt alive by its light, lest they grow too wise to be swayed by the corrupt nobility. Ruing how physical darkness paled to that of the human heart, he bequeaths the Traveler the "Divine Bridle," a crystalline device ostensibly representing the Sunchildren's authority, as thanks for helping him pass on in peace.

    The Byakuyakoku Collection (Pseudo-series)
Released: v2.4 "Fleeting Colors in Flight" (January 5, 2022)
Prerequisite Quest: "The Subterranean Trials of Drake and Serpent" (first half) ("From Dusk to Dawn in Byakuyakoku" [World Quest Series], Part 1)

Collection of Dragons and Snakes

On the library of the Narrows, the Traveler and Paimon find the Sinshade of Ema, a librarian who is about to join the mass evacuation of the people of Byakuyakoku but for the fact that she is missing five books: The Serpent and the Drakes of Tokoyokoku, borrowed by an envoy from the Shogunate; Hydrological Studies in Byakuyakoku, borrowed by the nobleman Date; In the Light, Beneath the Shadow; a record of experiments conducted by a certain Michiya; and Before Sun and Moon, a forbidden book stolen by three thieves now imprisoned in a hanging prison beneath the Dainichi Mikoshi.

The Serpent and Drakes of Tokoyokoku can be bought from the Yae Publishing House. It contains a fictionalized account of the history of Enkanomiya/Byakuyakoku, about how Rikoku, the first Sunchild, had Aberaku no Mikoto imprisoned on charges of high treason out of jealousy, and how, many years later, a young boy would find Orobashi and ask it to become the new god of the people, who would lead them to overthrow the Sunchild regime and evacuate the people to Watatsumi.

In the Light, Beneath the Shadow, a book of children's puzzles, was stored in the Serpent's Heart, accessible only after finding and activating an altar pattern found in a secret chamber southwest of the Dainichi Mikoshi.

Date's Challenge

At the northeastern side of the Evernight Temple is a labyrinth accessible only during Evernight. After successfuly traversing it, the Traveler and Paimon are greeted by the Sinshade of Date, or Daedalus in the local tongue, a labyrinth artisan. With most islanders preparing to leave Byakuyakoku, Date dedicates his remaining time creating elaborate labyrinths throughout the land; to this end, he has borrowed Hydrological Studies in Byakuyakoku, a book on the geography and biology of the land, only to realize that he accidentally left it in the heart of his latest creation, and has the Traveler try to find it on his behalf. Whereas the Traveler and Paimon quietly mock the ineffectiveness of his labyrinths, Date admits that the labyrinths are but his way of testing his ability to defend Byakuyakoku.

Tricolor File

Far to the north of he Dainichi Mikoshi, the Traveler and Paimon discover a secret island, unrecorded on the map of Enkanomiya. There they find the Sinshade of Michiya, a researcher operating a Vishap laboratory. Believing that records of his activities are better left hidden, he placed his records deep within the laboratory, which will release all the Vishps caged within once everyone has left Byakuyakoku. Mistaking the Traveler for either a Jibashiri or an envoy of the Sangonomiya, he allows them to inspect the facility, which the Traveler uses as an opportunity to obtain his documents by fighting the Vishaps within.

Antigonus

In the hanging prison in the island of Dainichi Mikoshi, the Traveler and Paimon discover the Sinshades of Oogura and Ooshima, two of the suspects in the theft of Before Sun and Moon protesting their innocence, who ask them to find Antei, or Antigonus in the local tongue, the third suspect and an apprentice Jibashiri who managed to escape by hiking the cliffs to conduct his own investigation, tracking down a delegation from Khaenri'ah in the Serpent's Heart while leaving bird symbols as cues for his fellow prisoners to facilitate their escape.

At the southwestern island of the Serpent's Heart, the duo find the Sinshade of Antei, who explains that he was a bodyguard to the Khaenri'ahn delegation which he believes were the real thieves; despite defeating the delegation, he was severely injured by a Ruin Guard with them. As he has torn its core away, the Guard crashed atop the book, and with him too injured, he asks the Traveler to take the Guard's core and activate it, so the book can be retrieved. After dealing with the machine, the Traveler presents Before Sun and Moon to Antei, who realizes that he may have died fighting the Ruin Guard. After the Traveler assures him that they will prove his innocence, Antei comes to terms with his death and passes on.

The forbidden text, for which Orobashi was condemned to commit suicide, is an account of the history of Teyvat long before the dawn of the gods, when the "Primordial One" descended from beyond the stars, defeated the seven Vishap lords after a forty-year-war, and spent four hundred years creating the known world, during which it also created four shades. The era of prosperity would not last, however, when the "second throne of the heavens" descended and threw Teyvat into chaos, during which Byakuyakoku sank beneath the oceans, its people living in fear of Vishaps and despairing that the Primordial One cannot hear their prayers, until one of its shades, Istaroth, goddess of time who they address as Kairos, heard them and taught Aberaku no Mikoto to build the Dainichi Mikoshi.

Collection of Dragons and Snakes (conclusion)

With all five books accounted for, the Traveler and Paimon report back to Ema, who hey assure of the veracity of The Serpent and Drakes of Tokoyokoku due to it looking different from the other books. Relieved, Ema thanks the Traveler for their assistance and returns the books, even as she contemplates opening a restaurant once she leaves Byakuyakoku.

Per the map, the Traveler finds the resistance's hideout in the bowels of the Narrows, where they met the Sinshade of Adonis, who apologizes to his master for failing him, the resistance having collapsed following his capture and despite his attempts at leading it, especially once they began dabbling in illegal trade of Dragonbone Orbs, fruits said to have narcotic properties, the wealth generated having caused several desertions. As compensation for the Traveler's efforts, Adonis provides him the secret of growing Dragonbone Orbs, namely by watering the Dragonbone Flower inside the Serpent's Bowels with the waters of the Tokoyo Reisen in Evernight Temple.

Doing as Adonis taught them, the Traveler and Paimon water the Flower in the Serpent's Bowels and wait for a few days until it yields the Dragonbone Orb, which Paimon thinks is too mundane to be useful, much less profitable.

Fulfilling Clymene's wishes, the Traveler makes a pilgrimage to the tombs of the seven Sunchildren: Orupeusu, the bard, at the Dainichi Mikoshi; Surepio, the apothecary, north of Evernight Temple; Risutaiosu, the artisan, south of Evernight Temple; Isumenasu, the navigator, east of the Narrows; Rikoru, the architect, west of the Narrows; Ion, the fortuneteller, east of the Serpent's Heart; and Piramumon, the truth-seeker, west of the Serpent's Heart.

Having paid their respects to the Sunchildren, the Traveler reports back to Clymene, who invites them up to the Soul's Guide Locus, a triangular stone platform that manifested above the abyss in the middle of Evernight Temple, where she will put to rest the remnants of the souls of the Sunchildren after they were immolated during the Rite of Solar Return on the pretext that they are to return to the Dainich Mikoshi from whence they came lest the mortal world taint them, infusing her memories of the Sunchildren with theirs. As her memories are not sufficient, she asks the Traveler to place the Divine Bridle in the pool in the middle of the Locus, restoring the memories of Clymene, in particular those of Piramumon and Orupeusu, who she personally babysitted. Iwakura Art's Downfall

Prerequisites: Complete "Sacrificial Offering" ("Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual" [World Quest Series], Act 2); obtain complete access to the underground ruins of Araumi

After they have been defeated, the Traveler then meets Iwakura Mitsunari, their former swordmaster now working as a Shogunate soldier at the Kujou Encampment, who confesses that his disciples deserted him and resorted to banditry following the ratification of the Vision Hunt Decree, while his hazy recollections reveal that he, too, was a victim of the Decree. After the Traveler confesses to having defeated his former disciples, Mitsunari laments that the Iwakura school of swordsmanship has waned under his watch, bested by a self-taught swordsman. Nevertheless, as their former master, he had an obligation to avenge them, even as he has expressed curiosity over the Traveler, and engages them in a duel, which the latter wins.

Having borne witness to the Iwakura school's decline, the Traveler returns to the stone shrine where they fought Kunihiko, where they find two other disciples, Okazaki Toraemon and Yanagiha Arashi, who are collecting their former peers' swords to plant in the shrine, only missing the Hakuen Michimitsu Amenoma, the heirloom sword of the Iwakura clan. Despite having been expelled from the school for resorting to banditry, they, too, feel an obligation to avenge their peers, and engage the Travel in a two-on-one handicap battle. Still, the Traveler outlasts them, and out of sympathy for the school, they decide to plant the swords in memory of their former wielders.
