I came across a "Reporter Rita" in Ultra Sun who was badgering a famous Pikachu for an interview. Is it possible that this is a reference to Rita Skeeter from the Harry Potter series?
“Dude, sucking at something is the first step to being sorta good at something!” - Jake the DogWe should probably add Heel–Face Revolving Door to the tropes in regards to Colress. He appears as a neutral character in Sun and Moon, but the promo materials for USUM suggest he joins Team Rainbow Rocket.
Hide / Show RepliesSpoiler alert: This is false. He's joined the Aether Foundation and built a device for the Ultra Recon Squad to capture Necrozma. In the Team Rainbow Rocket postgame episode, Colress actually saves the Player Character and Lillie from Ghetsis when he gets homicidal, using a device to send Ghetsis back to the world from whence he came.
In light of the trailer where it's revealed all the previous villains are returning.
- Is it worth spoiling out given that it's being advertised and therefore, not supposed to be a spoiler, or so widely known that spoiling it out is pointless?
- Let's keep this page clear of any assumptions or questions about how/why they teamed up until the game's comes. Sonic Forces went through the same when we added much about the Face–Heel Turn / Villain Team-Up that had to be removed since it wasn't the real them. Maybe the team leaders are Alternate Selfs, as canon AUs are a thing here and it would explain everything else about them.
The rule is that anything revealed in a trailer is by definition, not a spoiler, because an official source gave it away before the game was even released. it's OK to spoiler tag anything that happened to the individual characters from their own game, like the ultimate fates of Cyrus, Ghetsis, and Lysandre, but we already know that they're in the game.
Personally, I think that somehow US/UM is in a 3rd alternate dimension- one that includes the hypothetical Lysandre from the original non-fairy non-mega evolution universe that existed for the first 5 generations, and the hypothetical Cyrus from the alternate universe established in Gen 6 who never chose or succeeded in his goal from the 4th gen games... but that's just me. :p
... I'm thinking my theory may hold some weight. Official screenshots in the game show that Maxie and Archie are NOT their Alpha/Omega universe versions.
Edited by DRCEQThis Lysandre is from the Mega timeline since he's clearly showing his Mega Ring in the promo art. There's a theory going around that all these villains come from timelines where they succeeded in their plans.
I seriously doubt that, as in particular, the plans of Magma, Aqua, and Flare would've resulted in global devastation. I can buy Lysandre escaping from the failure of Team Flare's plot since they Never Found the Body, as well as Cyrus eventually returning of his own accord, or even being found by Team Rainbow Rocket in Ultra Space. (Perhaps Ultra Space and the Distortion World are one and the same? Maybe Giratina is an Ultra Beast? Maybe most if not all the Legendaries are Ultra Beasts, except Mewtwo of course?)
Edited by MacsenOkay, I think it's about time to unblock editing on this page.
Hide / Show RepliesIt's been confirmed to be a third version, so it'll be redirected to the main Sun and Moon page.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite. In that case, we should just soft split and put the information on the main page.
Because we weren't sure whether or not they were sequels or third versions.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.I checked Serebii.net, I can't find where it says they're "third versions" as opposed to sequels. Where was that said?
The Pokemon Company have not said directly that these new versions are "third versions" of Sun & Moon, but have subtly hinted at it as an alternate retelling of Sun & Moon.
At the bottom of this page, it says the main playable characters are the same characters from Sun & Moon, but have to pick their partners to go on this new adventure in Ultra Sun & Moon. If Ultra Sun and Moon had been sequels instead, the main player characters wouldn't need to pick their partners, they'd still have their fully evolved chosen starters and be the champion from Sun & Moon.
All-in-all, this is like what Super Mario Galaxy 2 is to Super Mario Galaxy 1. Ultra Sun & Moon pretends the original Sun & Moon doesn't exist due to Ultra Sun & Moon being set in an alternate universe.
Edited by Ngamer01This Nintendo Direct video shows the main character meeting with Lusamine and encountering a rift to the Ultra Dimension at the Aether Foundation, just the same as it plays out in the current games. The only difference is that Necrozma shows up instead of UB-01. New areas are added to the islands, but otherwise it indicates that everything is still the same.
Or we just wait for actual information on the matter, be it official statements or even the release of the games themselves. Because right now, the whole "alternate reality" and "third version split into two" thing is merely based on interpretations of vague statements, ambiguous wordings, and out-of-context information.
New information revealing:
- a city that exists in Ultra Space that had its light taken by Necrozma.
- New antagonists called the Ultra Recon Squad
- More Ultra Beasts.
So, this game is both a remake and a new story. Maybe it would be best to just leave this page split off from the original
I agree. The difference between these games and Sun and Moon is far bigger than all of the previous "facelifts" we've gotten, not to mentoin they actually introduce new species of Pokémon. I feel they deserve their own page.
Yeah, judging by the recent trailers, I think we should just unblock editing instead of moving everything to the Sun & Moon page.
Hide / Show RepliesI agree, this is way more than a mere facelift like Crysal, Emerald, or even Platinum.
Update under Fusion Dance - we now know that the mascot forms are classified as Necrozma's forms, much like how Black and White Kyurem are still forms of Kyurem.
Edited by LavaringXIs this worth having a separate page for? If they're just rereleases (which they seem to be) I don't really see the point.
Hide / Show RepliesTechnically, Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby had different stories from Ruby and Sapphire, yet a soft split on that page was all that was needed.
Having a "Different story" doesn't mean it's going to be drastically different.
Edited by DRCEQIf they are effectively the same stories, we can always redirect them. Wait and see.
I say we cut the page and start a folder on the sun and moon page. If it turns out we really should have a separate page, THEN we can split them properly.
Why "Team Rainbow Rocket exists" and "You can catch Legendaries and Ultra Beasts in Ultra Space" are costantly spoiler-tagged? They were showcased in trailers months before the game's release...
The best character is always the one-shot disguise. Hide / Show Replies
