Yeah, fliers were nerfed a little but not as much as claimed here. They also missed one actual nerf to them, namely you can no longer dismount to lose your weakness and take advantage of terrain effects.
Hmm, I see. I still feel they qualify and warrant a mention under Nerf, I can clean up some of the issues mentioned. Minor nerfs are still nerfs, afterall.
^^ "the Elusian sisters are considered the best two royals by a wide margin...only one flying class in Houses could use magic, and the nature of it meant you'd only ever have one and it'd never be as good a magic-user as ground-based caster classes. Ivy and Hortensia have none of those problems." —- Fair, but you are still limited to just the two. With the DLC and exchanging renown, you could get as many Abyssian Seals as you wanted meaning multiple Dark Fliers was possible. And with a team of fliers sweeping the battlefield, their lack of bonus to magic uses compared to a Gremory didn't matter.
^^ "The point on them being unable to use bows in Engage is a minor one, since flying bow access was just a nice addition and 1-2 physical weapons are far better in Engage than they were in 'Houses'' The point on bows is a little more cogent, but the meta at this point favors Bonded Shield abuse, which protects wyverns from all harm anyways, thus nullifying that weakness." —- Like I said, a minor nerf is still a nerf, but I'll clean up some of the wording. Getting into the ways around their weaknesses gets a little too far into Walkthrough Mode, but noting the enhanced weakness is still valid.
^ That's noted in the bullet above as it applies to both cavalry and fliers.
Edited by BeerBaronIs Denser and Wackier really applicable to this game? At its face, Engage is a fairly light-hearted game, but it delves into some pretty serious subject matter surrounding Sombron's severe abuse of his children, Ivy, Yunaka, and Hortensia's traumatic pasts, Céline and Alcryst's recurring nightmares of their loved ones dying, Zephia's on-screen murder of Marni, a child, just to name a few things.
Hide / Show RepliesI would vote its not applicable. The game is colorful and silly in some ways, but the overall tone is not that different from Awakening or Fates. The trope page seems to indicate this is also more about exaggerated comedy than simply some comedic elements.
I agree, even if you compare it to Three Houses, the characters would fit into the Engage World. I think people are confusing Denser and Wackier with Lighter and Softer.
TV Tropes ruined Faust's lifeShould Cutting Off the Branches really be included among this and the character tropes at all? To my knowledge nothing is claiming that female Corrin is the only Corrin, male Byleth is the only Byleth, etc. Since the Fire Emblem setting is a vast multiverse to begin with, all versions are treated as canon to some extent, and as far as we know the world of Engage simply happens to be using this particular Corrin and Byleth as Emblem Rings.
Regarding Beer Baron's recent addition of fliers to the nerf page:
There's a lot wrong with this. Having explored meta analysis of Engage, Wyvern Knights are still the best physical class in the game and the Elusian sisters are considered the best two royals by a wide margin.
