- Adaptation Displacement: The anime is more well-known than the manga.
- Broken Base: Many argue as to whether the series is actually Yuri, as while there are girls who are in love with another it is mostly one sided. Lucia is definitely in love with Sumire, but Sumire feelings for Lucia are mostly platonic, with only the vaguest of hints that she might also have feelings beyond friendship, and she has a male love interest that she clearly loves.
- Die for Our Ship; A male love interest in a Yuri Genre series never goes well. Yoshiki never had a chance. It doesn't help he is a villain.
- Incest Yay Shipping: Onesided in the manga but the twins have a lot of this. Lola seems quite creeped out by her sister.
- Tear Jerker:
- Lucia was rejected for much of her life and thus has quite a lot of insecurities.
- The chapter involving the two siblings is depressing. They're just two elementary kids however one of them is becoming a Virus. They were such close siblings too.
