YMMV / Vectorman

  • Cult Classic: Though the series has not seen an installment in nearly three decades and it is very rarely if ever represented in crossovers, they are still fondly remembered by hardcore Sega fans and considered some of the best games on the Genesis for their amazing presentation, clever ideas and fast-paced action. You'll usually see at least a couple people asking for a third game when the question of what franchises Sega should revive comes up.
  • Goddamned Bats: The ever-appearing Robotic Mosquitos in the first game, every single enemy in the second.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • This wouldn't be the final work of fiction starring robots cleaning up Earth while humans are gone. WALL•E ended up starring one of these types of robots as its main character.
    • This also wouldn't be the only video game with an "Orbot" with a spherical design, as the Sonic the Hedgehog series would go on to feature a robot with that name as a main antagonist starting with Sonic Colorsnote
  • Nightmare Fuel: The Game Over screen in Vectorman 2. The music is a synthesized descending string scale with a low-pitched wobbly groan kind of sound added in, and there's a giant robotic spider that reaches out and kills Vectorman, complete with death sound and an Evil Laugh.
    • The Shadow boss in the second game: a green spectral being with red eyes and More Teeth than the Osmond Family. After the Shadow warps in and out of existence, the teeth will sometimes detach from it and lunge at Vectorman.
  • Visual Effects of Awesome: The first game was highly praised for its impressive graphics and visual effects for the system, including extremely smooth pseudo-3d animations, lighting effects, transparency and rotations. And unlike many other examples of early Pre-Rendered Graphics, its visuals have aged surprisingly well, still looking pretty clean and sharp today.
