YMMV / The Simpsons S 12 E 2 A Tale Of Two Springfields

• Broken Base: This episode is generally considered to be one of the best season 12 episodes, especially from fans of The Who. However a small group of fans despise the episode because of the scene when Homer attempts to blow up the city hall (and the ridiculousness of the episode in general). By the number of "Worst Simpsons Episodes" lists it's been on, you'd think it was much worse-received.
• Crosses the Line Twice: Homer threatening a suicide bombing over the area code changes? Not very funny. However...
  Homer: [repeatedly pushes the plunger, nothing happens, annoyed] Oh, nice wiring, Bart!
  Bart: [defensive] It worked on the test corpse!^note the closed captions reveal that the original line was "It worked on the test goat".
• Squick: Homer revealing that the badger ripped out his abdominal wall and left his guts exposed is pretty gross. It's less Nightmare Fuel than it could be, due to his ridiculously calm treatment of the situation.
