- Adorkable: Ash. He's a video game nerd who makes awkward Let's Plays, has an adorable design and Rich Evans' dorky voice, and starts out in the game optimistically going out into the world to make a friend.
- Awesome Music: The entire soundtrack is rock covers of classical music, so this is to be expected. See here.
- Cargo Ship: Ash X Friend. Considering that Friend is a dead body...
- Creepy Cute: The Cute Ghost. Some of the enemies would also qualify.
- Demonic Spiders: The Croasts found in the Wall of Sorrow stage. Have fun trying to jump on them as they erratically swoop all over the sky.
- Fridge Brilliance: As one YouTube comment pointed out, the Arid Flats are the second world in the game and the first "new world" you come across, while the music that plays is fittingly "New World Symphony".
- Friendly Fandoms: With Super Meat Boy, as both are Nintendo Hard platformers with similar gameplay elements. It helps that they were both created by Edmund McMillen.
- Funny Moments: "HOW THE FUCK DOES THE EARTH DIE TWICE!?"
- Moe: Ash, believe it or not. He's a tiny Blob Monster with White Bead Eyes (though one of them is missing) who often sports a huge, goofy grin. See for yourself◊. His adorkable tendencies also up the cuteness factor.
- That One Level:
- Good luck getting all the iron carts.
- Good luck completing all the iron carts in Acceptance, where they're all done back-to-back, and with another iron cart's worth of rooms tacked on to the end. Oh, and no checkpoints throughout the entire thing.
- Underused Game Mechanic: Retinaras, blobs that zap you to death if you stand in their field of view for too long, are used for exactly three rooms in the entire game.
