YMMV / The Care Bears Movie

• Ass Pull: The key that is considered important throughout the movie is destroyed, but Secret Bear is able to create a new one easily.
• Evil Is Cool: The Spirit is probably the most well-remembered part of the movie.
• Fridge Horror:
  • Take a look at the crazy eyes Nicholas has near the end... the spirit is gradually possessing him.
  • While it's outright stated outside of showing children acting aggressively, it's heavily implied that this spread of not caring is causing global anarchy. Had the Carebears not stopped the Spirit in time, things would've likely escalated to a point where not even they could fix the world.
• Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • When you notice Nicholas zap the crowd into un-caring...you can see someone who looks suspiciously like Daria in the crowd. Gee, no wonder she's such an apathetic high schooler...
  • In addition, this movie came out almost three decades before Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's had a Book of Darkness as an antagonist (though it turned out to be much more heroic than previously thought at the end).
• Jerkass Woobie: Nicholas may be the antagonist for most of the film, but come on, can we be too hard on him? He never had a friend in his life! And he's also implied to be constantly scolded by his manager who is also his implied adopted parent, which didn't help his self-esteem issues, which made it easier for the Spirit to manipulate him, even when the tasks she asks become increasingly vile in nature.
• Memetic Molester: Mr. Cherrywood has become one due to his unfortunate expression and delivery of line when telling the kids about the Care Bears in the beginning.

• What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: In spite of having the iconic and cutesy Care Bears, the film itself is surprisingly dark with a malign spirit that wants to turn the world into misanthropic anarchy, several attempts at harming children, and very deranged imagery near the end—especially from the rundown theme park and even Nicholas himself.
