YMMV / Team Kirby Clash Deluxe

Go To

  • Best Boss Ever:
    • Team Kirby Clash Deluxe lets you fight Taranza for the first time. The regular final battle kicks it up a notch.
    • After beating Dark Taranza, he summons another mirror. Out comes the king of darkness, King D-Mind, which resembles a mix of both Shadow Dedede and Dark Mind. Upon Turning Red, King D-Mind grabs an axe and gains a mashup of Masked Dedede and Dark Mind's themes, and the fight itself embodies this fusion. The only flaw is that the fight afterwards is far more disappointing for some people, as detailed below.
  • Broken Base: To the surprise of no one, Team Kirby Clash Deluxe being an Allegedly Free Game is a major point of contention:
    • Some don't find it a problem, as the game is still fun and is beatable with little to no spending if Gem Apples are managed well (for example, players can choose to specialize in one or two classes for upgrading, teaming up with friends or AI adventurers for backup).
    • Others would prefer it if it was a straight-up purchase like past side games, as microtransactions hurt the game's replay value and avoiding them requires a lot of waiting. The fact that Bandanna Waddle Dee and Magolor frequently hint at the player to buy Gem Apples dosn't help.
  • Disappointing Last Level: Team Kirby Clash Deluxe ends with King D-Mind without being preceded by Dark Taranza, with little, if any, changes to the fight. While many love the idea of Shadow Dedede using Dark Mind's attacks, this final battle is seen by some as an incredibly lazy rehash of the previous fight.
  • Fan Nickname: The shop owner Magolor is known by some as "Microtransagolor" because he often encourages players to buy Gem Apples.
  • Game-Breaker:
    • You may be surprised by the damage having Hammer Lord accompanied by three Beam Mages can do. Three Beam Mages make a bigger chance of stopping time, allowing Hammer Lord to hit the enemy with everything they have.
    • Once you get higher tier gear with fast charge times, just running 4 Beam Mages is extremely viable. You won't need a healer because the enemy keeps getting frozen, easily allowing you to get platinum medals on every quest. Even though the AI can be unreliable, they'll still throw out Time Beams left and right, and lots of them due to how fast they can charge. Once you have both the Platinum Mage DX items, your crew will basically be unstoppable.
  • Goddamned Boss:
    • Team Kirby Clash Deluxe turns every boss with a blocking or retreating move into this, due to the timer. In the Planet Robobot version, the timer was never a big concern outside of score runs, but since the standalone version makes it harder to grind, it feels a lot more strict. For stall-happy bosses such as Blocky and Whispy Woods, the clock is more of a threat than the fight itself, unless you want to fork over Gem Apples for a 30-second extension.
    • Pyribbit returns as one of its encounters, and it's just as annoying as it was in Triple Deluxe proper. Only this time, as noted above, you're on a time limit on top of its normal tendencies.
  • Memetic Mutation: Microtransagolor.Explanation
  • Most Wonderful Sound: Pretty much every sound that plays when using Team Meteor, but especially the one for landing a perfect on the moving circle.
  • Take That, Scrappy!: Those who found Pyribbit to be a difficult boss may get a chuckle from his boss description in the original Team Kirby Clash.
"A giant flaming frog?! Quick! Spank it silly before it hops back into the volcano!"
  • That One Achievement:
    • Defeating Parallel Landia in 40 seconds or less is one of the hardest Heroic Missions in the game. You will need a Beam Mage player with some of the best equipment, and charged Time Beams at just the right moments. There is little room for error since the boss is almost always inconveniently in the air in the first phase. While it's easier to hit the boss in the second phase, the massive attacks mean it's still possible to get hit and mess up a crucial Time Beam.
    • Completing The True Final Battle against King D-Mind with a Platinum Medal with each player in a different role can be a nightmare. Due to needing everyone in a different role, you can't just have everyone be a high-damage class, or a Beam Mage. Additionally, the second phase of the boss likes to camp out in the background in between its first few attacks, followed by clinging to the ceiling where CPU Kirbys don't attack. The time you need to beat this in to get the Speed Clear Bonus is less than a minute, basically meaning you need to defeat the boss before they waste all your time and lock you out of it, which typically involves lots and lots of well-placed Time Beams, along with everyone constantly beating down the boss. Even with optimal grouping, either from friends that are max-level and have top-tier gear, or CPU allies with the same attributes, it's still tough to get the boss down before they start hiding away.
  • Unexpected Character: Promotional material already gave away Taranza being a boss, but the Final Boss is a far bigger surprise. It's King D-Mind, the king of darkness who resembles both Shadow Dedede from Triple Deluxe and Dark Mind from Amazing Mirror.
