- Broken Base: See here for entries
- Crossover Ship: Girard Spriggan takes an interest in Akito Tenkawa for some reason, leading to edits of Martian Successor Nadesico screenshots with Girard inserted in them.
- Memetic Mutation: Now with its own page.
- Older Than They Think: It is widely believed that this game marked the return of GaoGaiGar and Martian Successor Nadesico since their last appearance in Super Robot Wars W eight years prior. While it was the first time in those eight years they've been in a traditional SRW, they were already involved with the franchise via Super Robot Wars Mobile, while Nadesico was featured in Super Robot Wars Card Chronicle - Mobile and Card Chronicle were released three years and two years, respectively, before BX.
- Scrappy Mechanic: Secret Characters; BX marks one of the few installments where it's possible to acquire every unlockable character and unit in a single run. Sounds like an improvement, so why is it listed under this trope? In order to fight the True Final Boss and achieve the Golden Ending, players must get EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. Better make plenty of safety saves because Guide Dang It! has never been more exemplified than in this game.
- Spiritual Successor: Falsaber and Bruvictor are sometimes regarded as a Retool of Baan Gaan and Mach Sperion, the main robots from the cancelled ninth Brave Series entry, Saint of Braves Baan Gaan, for their similar color schemes, dynamic, and even general silhouette.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Fans were excited that Macross 30 would be making its Super Robot Wars debut in BX, especially since the Time Travel aspects could make for some interesting Crossover ideas. Turns out its entire plot was resolved months before the game even begins.
- Unexpected Character
- Played with regarding Gundam AGE; despite the series' divisive reception, SRW fans more-or-less anticipated its debut in a future installment. The real question about AGE was how the inter-generational Story Arcs would be used in a Crossover, to wit not everyone believed developer Banpresto would skip the first two in favor of third-generation protagonist Kio Asuno. However, BX ensures Flit Asuno remains the Point of View character for the AGE cast in the game.
- In the form of an unexpected Combination Attack, the "Silverion Hammer" is usable, previously exclusive to the GaoGaiGar video game Blockaded Numbers.
- The Great General of Darkness appearing in BX as a boss and fully voiced was not anticipated by anyone, since the character barely made an appearance at all in Shin Mazinger proper.
- With regards to an unexpected non-appearance, BX marks the first time in Super Robot Wars Gai Daidouji cannot be saved no matter what when the plot of Nadesico is involved.
