YMMV / Suicide for Hire

Go To

  • Bile Fascination: There is a certain element of this for some readers.
  • Designated Hero: While we are supposed to root for these characters, Hunter is a psychopath who enjoys "assisting" the suicides of various people, whether they are willing to go through it or not, and Arcturus is too ineffectual to question their methods and just goes with them.
  • Narm:
    • While it could be deliberate, our main protagonists design's are so over-the-top edgy (mixed in with Arcturus' overall design clashing with the aesthetics) really makes it hard to take this comic seriously and just see it as a juvenile attempt to be dark and offensive.
  • Nightmare Fuel: At least one of the deaths is so gory that Arc vomits (and Hunter gets hungry).
    • Autumn's death. She got her whole digestive tract torn out through her mouth.
    • A one-shot gag comic showed the results of a botched shotgun-in-the-mouth suicide that managed to be this and hilarious at the same time.
  • Strawman Has a Point: At one point, a pregnant sow decides to seek out Hunter and Arcturus because she can't afford an abortion. When they refuse to kill her on the grounds that she's pregnant, she calls it an example of "typical pro-life hypocrisy". Arcturus argues that they aren't murderers. However, no matter what you may feel about abortion, the sow is right about one thing: they are hypocrites and murderers, because their victims always back out at the last minute, only to get killed anyway.
  • Tear Jerker: The cruel irony of the old cancer patient's death ("I will probably feel the least bad after the fact for this job than all the others" indeed), and what happened to Rosaline.
  • Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: Our protagonists are psychotic murderers who will never be punished, their clients are usually monsters who have no chance to be redeemed because they always die, and the rest of the planet is full of assholes. Why should we care about this series again?
