  • Awesome Music: Pretty much the whole soundtrack. It's an unusual mix of jazz, pop and elevator music. And it's every bit as awesome as it sounds.
  • Demonic Spiders:
    • If you attempt to face a Bear as a Racing Fox, you won't last long. The Racing Dog can subvert this since it can fire missiles from a safe distance as Bears are slow and don't have much range.
    • Attempting to face a group of Scorpions is going to endly very badly for you, especially if you're playing as anything less powerful than a Camel Tank. Even a lone one can still be dangerous.
    • Polar Bear Tanks if you are the wrong animal.
  • Nintendo Hard: All levels have to be completed in one life and there are no checkpoints whatsoever. This isn't too bad on earlier levels, but really starts grind as they get longer and longer.
  • Obvious Beta: A lot of the animals are unbalanced, there are plenty of glitches including one that prevents you from getting 100%, and there is only one major cutscene which is the intro. The game tries to justify this by Dan selling the ending to get a new ship.
  • Porting Disaster: The PS1 port, Evo's Space Adventure, with worse graphics, shoddy analogue programming that causes every character to move very slowly, whole levels cut out, and just generally poor design. The original team had nothing to do with it too.
  • Suspiciously Similar Song: The music played during Punch-Up Pyramid is a blatant copyright-friendly offshoot of the opening segment of "Eye of the Tiger".
  • That One Boss: Though not really a boss, there's only one Hippo in the whole game and it's much stronger than the wimpy Hyena you'll likely be playing as, so the strategy will be very much as if you were facing a boss nonetheless. It is possible to proceed without killing it however.
  • The Scrappy: Dan is an annoying and condescending jerk who is rarely pleased with your hard work and ends up trying to take all the credit for saving the world. May have been on purpose as a Nintendo Power article has some in-universe reports with the first one calling Dan expendable and wildly unpopular.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: You never get to use the Hippo in combat despite its amazing destructive capabilities.
  • This Is Your Premise on Drugs: This is the bastard love child of Pokémon and Super Mario Bros. on LSD.
