  • Acclaimed Flop: The game garnered a number of rave reviews upon release for having a very original premise and some great level designnote  but undersold due to poor marketing and its premise being perhaps a little too weird for mainstream audiences. Nevertheless, it has become a Cult Classic among Nintendo 64 fans and is widely considered, alongside games like Body Harvest and Rocket: Robot on Wheels, to be one of the system's hidden gems.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: To this day, the game has never seen rerelease outside of the Nintendo 64 and PlayStationnote  and has, thus, been out of print for around two decades. And prices for authentic second hand carts have shot up to the nearly $100 range. Although there has been fan interest in a current gen remake (particularly, one that fine-tunes the original's somewhat clunky combat); the chances of that happening, though theoretically possible, are pretty unlikely due to the game's underwhelming sales and Rockstar's focus on the far more profitable Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption games. Thus, as it stands, emulation is probably your best bet if you want to play the game right nownote .
  • What Could Have Been: Some shots of the beta are included in Mouse on Mars' "Twift" music video. The flying mouse would have been a fun addition.
    • A 3D render in an article in Nintendo Power implies there was going to be a crocodile animal that was ultimately abandoned. It also indicates (via in-universe news reports) that Evo would have boarded the station to scout it out only to be blasted to scrap by the on-board defense systems, leaving only his microchip. Also, Dan himself would have been the one controlling the microchip via remote control, giving him more to do than just sitting on his ship and yelling at the player.
    • The game was originally in development for the PC with plans for it to come out on there, the PlayStation, and the Sega Saturn, but was switched over to the N64 as an exclusive as the hardware could handle the game better. A PlayStation port did ultimately come to be after a few years, though.
    • A sequel was in consideration, but any plans were scrapped when the first game had underwhelming sales.
