YMMV / Run Lola Run

Go To

  • Awesome Music: Composed by Tom Tykwer himself, with a bit of help from Reinhold Heil and Johnny Klimek. If you like techno, you'll love this movie.
  • Esoteric Happy Ending: In the final, happiest ending, our heroes have rescued themselves without resorting to robbery, and Lola has helped save the life of the security guard. Along the way, however, they cause a nasty car crash, hand 100,000 Deutschmarks over to criminals, and apparently remain criminals themselves. Manni has also given a pistol to the homeless man, and the shifty way he looks at it and then glances around suggests he might do something drastic to make up for the loss of the cash bag.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • The bear-shaped cuckoo clock in the beginning with the opening jaws swallowing the camera; both Lola and Manni's deaths.
    • One of the flash-forwards of the kind-hearted Asian bank employee. And I don't mean the bondage one.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Ronnie, Manni's boss, is played by Heino Ferch, who would become more recognizable to people after playing Albert Speer in Downfall.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Manni is an idiot criminal who screws up an operation, blames Lola, and expects her to rescue him. Ultimately, the nicest thing he does in the film is hand a pistol to the homeless man.
