- Accidental Innuendo:
- "So what you're saying is, keep out of Sakuya."
- Touch chests to get books.
- "So, basically it's head or bust! *beat* That can be so misread."
- "I want to get a few inches of love. Don't misread that, please."
- "You eat peach cakes - that can be misread..."
- "No! Johnny! Please let me live! I have so much love to give you!"
- "Dangit, Horikawa, stop dodging the tongue! Trying to make a movie, here!"
- "I must blow myself for the sake of science!"
- "It feels longer and harder than it actually is."
- "Happiness makes me large!"
- "Go big or go limp. Ew no no nono don't do that, just forget I said those words."
- "At one point, shaking it at one point, is gonna make it go big"
- "Alyx, did you blow me? Up? With a barrel? Well, it's fine. I do it to myself all the time, and to be fair, I did it to you yesterday."
- "After Khox and Boobz, it's time to get wet! I-I realized what I was saying while saying it, but I didn't stop."
- Alternate Character Interpretation: raocow has been described as a friendly Eldritch Abomination by his fans and not as "Samuel Tanguay".
- He's reinterpreted X as constantly dependent on Alia's guidance for the smallest of inconveniences, while Alia is a cold-blooded assassin with no qualms about killing anyone and Dr. Cain only speaks in borderline Pokémon Speak where he interjects his own name in place of every noun. Middy is interpreted as somebody's self-insert OC and treats him as the Gary Stu-type that all the characters inexplicably love.
- Koin is purposefully setting up puzzles to make Dixie and Kiddy earn their DK coins, even if he's not the best at his job.
- After playing Tails Adventure as part of his 'All the Sonics' projects, Tails has been characterised as a highly militaristic psychopath who stockpiles explosives.raocow: I guess Tails is the type of guy who'd be useful to blackmail if you ever need, like, napalm or any other sort of military ordinance, really.
- Arc Fatigue:
- His Fantasy Explorer Nitroid went on for quite a while.
- This plagued a lot of his 2011/2012 videos.
- His MaGLX2 playthrough didn't seem to ever end, clocking on an impressive 170 videos.
- Distorted Travesty 3 lasted around 160 videos. Some were getting rather impatient for the series ending by that point.
- Archive Binge: Over 6500 videos across three video hosting websites. Have fun.
- As of December 2021, he has over 10k videos on Youtube alone.
- As far as individual projects are concerned, raocow's "All the Mega Men" series covers the entire Classic timeline and has more than 560 total videos.
- Can't Un-Hear It: His voice for Marisa, despite the hilarious Vocal Dissonance. It's exactly the same as his Bowser voice.
- He somehow makes Nitori sound not unlike Goofy.
- Ensemble Dark Horse:
- The toy duck that raocow would occasionally squeak during videos became surprisingly popular, to the point that when it suddenly disappeared, hordes of fans started asking where it went.
- raocow himself is arguably this for the LP Community. While he hasn't achieved nearly the success of other LP channels, he's been around since the inception of the genre and still makes videos for the fans that support him and out of genuine fun.
- After many years, raocow eventually changed his avatar to the Carefree Melody charm from Hollow Knight after all the times it saved him during the game.
- Growing the Beard: raocow gets through his first LP with a straight-laced demeanour instead of his current wacky self. He starts to get into the swing by his second LP, and the rest is history.
- Harsher in Hindsight:
- In his video for 75th place for Vanilla Contest '10, he states that he is glad his cat is not there.note
- The tags for MKM vid 20 count not guest-featuring gaston the cat
- raocow's "hack" with Demo (Not to be confused with A Super Mario Thing, which was a collaboration project by Talkhaus), was this hack called "What the Hell?" Well guess who the Chargin' Chucks were?
- Hilarious in Hindsight:
- raocow calls Yoshi a horse. Yoshi is the knight on the Super Mario Bros Chess Set. Guess what the Knight (Which is a horse) in Chess looks like?
- raocow did ascetic runs of Super Mario World ... well recently integrated that feature to that game.
- When he first starts scuffling with Black Plague in Super Mario Infinity, the character design alone makes him bust out in a lengthy fit of uncontrollable laughter. After several minutes, he tries to convince himself to stop laughing, as "people do not click on the link to hear [him] laugh." Nowadays, it's considered the Signature Scene of the entire LP.
- The "I hope I win!" joke was used in multiple "Make a Good Level" contests, usually as a irony for making a low effort level. However, it becomes funny when a level in MAGLX 2 used that joke and won.
- raocow babbles about the milkman in the first video of An Untitled Story. Many, many years later, he plays the trope namer.
- It's Hard, So It Sucks!: Not from raocow himself, but a good chunk of his fanbase have a tendency to immediately bash the game raocow is LPing as soon as he starts having major trouble with it, even when he admits that it's his fault he's doing badly (which he eventually brings up).
- Memetic Mutation:
- "I hope I win!" note While not originating from raocow, it's probably safe to say he made it more popular.
- "It is now canon that..." A Super Mario Bros X Thing, after a level prominently featuring "Etude No. 12 (Alegro con Fuoco)", included the statement that "It is now canon that Demo enjoys classical music." This led to many fans arbitrarily declaring that something about Demo is now canon.
- "I'm really good at videogames!" which he says, whenever he dies a not-so-smart death, such as jumping into an easily dodgeable spike.
- His LP of cat planet involved much repeating of the title, therefore: cat planet cat planet cat planet planet cat cat planet cat planet....
- "Thank for play", originating from an engrish-tastic end-of-level message from a Super Mario World level contest, to which raocow replied "Thank you for make".
- Before that, the phrase was a staple of the Karoshi series, which Raocow would later LP.
- Moe:
- In the animations at least, some people have said this about Demo.
- Most Wonderful Sound: His laugh is so infectious, especially when he laughs really hysterically.
- Nightmare Fuel: Most of his Copy Kitty ranting is grade-A hilarity. Then he gets to the fight against Exgal, and it turns into a mix of hilarious and unnerving.
- "This is the story of a guy who quits history..." What the fuck?
- In the seventh Super Cat Planet video, his quest to find all the black cats leads him into a hidden area with black backgrounds, white outlines, no music, and basically nothing in it. Well, nothing except for three black cats and a giant cat skull that transforms the angel into some freaky-looking lich thing. The things the cats say don't help matters, either:"You shouldn't be here."
"It's all gone.""Don't leave us."
- Sweet Dreams Fuel: The first three episodes of the GMC Jam 16 series.
- The Woobie:
- The nature of raocow's usual commentary means it's quite apparent when something actually begins to break him. Silent raocow is one of the most heart-wrenchingly sad things you will ever hear. You want to reach over the Internet and give him a cookie or something.
- Sometimes his silence simply means he's concentrating on a particularly hard segment, though.
- His woobieness reaches new heights in this video. He just sounds so...dejected.
- His cat died on June 25, 2010. In this video he sounds like he's sobbing in the background.
- The Sad Video
- In this episode of SMWCP, he sets a woobie record. Usually, when he dies at the hands of a rather unfair level, you'll hear him swear in his native French or occasionally a moan or grunt of frustration. In this video (except for one emotional outburst) all of his frustrations are vented through strained, painful whining. It's like watching a kitten fail.
- This episode of "New! SMW2 Yoshi's Island" (Which is a pretty hard game itself) has also pissed raocow off quite a bit to putting him in a really angry and sad mood. It's pretty painful for him to watch a playthrough of level (Which was actually revised by YoshiFan because he thought the other level before was too easy for an Extra level) where EXACT and precise timing is required, along with unexpected traps that someone playing before wouldn't be aware of."That was the most unfun piece of crap that I've ever played in memory"
