- Awesome Music: The whole soundtrack is very cool and memorable. Try the first stage, the second stage, the third stage, the fourth stage and the final stage. The sega Cd version takes it up to eleven.
- Difficulty Spike: It starts at Level 4, and each successive level afterwards just increases their Nintendo Hard status even more.
- Nightmare Fuel: The game has a surprising quantity of it. The Inner works in particular.
- So Okay, It's Average: The general reception on it. It's still a fun game, but doesn't really stand out from the crowd.
- That One Level: Just about every level from 5 to the end can qualify.
- The Inner works: A claustrophobic Womb Level full with instant deathtraps in the form of stuff like digestive pits and cilia that strangle you and where pretty much every enemy is an Asteroids Monster. The ground itself is also very bouncy, meaning that every time you land it takes a few seconds before you can walk properly and makes it extremely easy to crash into something.
- Graveyard, especially in its second incarnation: The entire level has you climb a maze like graveyard full of dinosaur bones that's being constantly battered by strong winds, fall off and its a long way back up...
