  • Broken Base: Mob and Momo was a divisive subject on the fanfiction.net side in the early years. Most fans adored the ship concept given how cute the two were together while others disliked it claiming that Momo was too overrated and that Mob should be with someone else or single. Thankfully, the hate for the ship has died down and has become more accepted by the fans as of 2021.
  • Catharsis Factor: For many fans, getting to see Bakugou be taken off his high horse by Shigeo who openly calls him out on his self-absorbed beliefs is very enjoyable. Especially during the early chapters where he's at his worst.
  • Fan-Disliked Explanation: When the fight between Mob and the Nomu was first released in 2020, many fans (particularly on fanfiction.net) were displeased with how the boy didn't immediately defeat the monster and struggled to fight him considering how much of an Invincible Hero he is. While the author explained that it was because Mob didn't have enough fighting experience and wanted to save his "Moment Of Awesome" for later, most fans were still upset with the esper not getting to shine in battle.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: During the Sports Festival Arc, Todoroki accuses Izuku and Mob of being half-brothers. By the Forest Camp Training Arc, the boys consider themselves to be blood brothers.
  • Inferred Holocaust: In Chapter 41, it's reported that 53 civilians were killed while more than a hundred were injured during the rampage of the Unknown. It isn't specified how those people were killed during the destruction or what type of injuries the survivors endured.
  • It's the Same, Now It Sucks!: A minor complaint about the story, particularly in the early arcs, is that it follows the exact same plot points as the My Hero Academia storyline. Fans feel that it isn't taking full advantage of Mob's new placement and how different things could be because of him and his interactions with others.
  • Memetic Badass: Mob has developed this reputation among fans for not only his vast assortment of powers but also for his ability to reach out and change people through his words of wisdom and compassion.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • Mob WILL get a Happy Ending Explanation
    • Denji in Class 1-AExplanation
    • Dimple's Return (Ch. 42 Spoilers)Explanation
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Believe it or not, Mineta is treated a lot better here compared to how he's portrayed in canon. While he still has his perverted side, receiving thoughtful words and positive encouragement from Shigeo results in Mineta deciding that he wants to be a better person who treats women better.
  • Salvaged Story: In the past, several readers complained about Mob not being able to defeat his opponents as impressively as in the show. That all changes in Chapter 39 where Mob confronts All For One where he not only wins the fight but does so in a spectacular and well-elaborated fashion.
  • Shocking Moments:
    • The scene where Bakugou gets targeted and overpowered by Mob who's fueled by 100 % Animosity because of his mistreatment of Izuku took the fandom by storm and delight.
    • In Chapter 40, we're treated to the return of the Unknown after Aizawa made the decision to expel a majority of Class 1-A for their involvement in the Kamino Ward Arc.
    • In the next Chapter, Mob is taken to Tartarus because of his destructive other self mixed with the grim news of 53 civilians having been killed during the rampage.
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not Symbolic?: Mob's role and actions in the story have given many viewers the impression that he could resemble Jesus Christ, particularly in encouraging his fellow man to show kindness to each other along with performing impossible miracles. However, the creator has stated in Chapter 37 that comparing Mob to Jesus was not their intention, and they aren't flattered by the comparison.
  • The Woobie: Mob. Right off the bat, he's trapped in a new world completely separated from his friends and family and with no idea when/if he'll ever see them again. While he does make an effort to make the most of his situation and be the best hero, it still painful to think of his loved ones and how they feel about his disappearance. And if that wasn't enough, he accidentally loses control as ???% which results in 53 deaths along with hurting his adoptive guardian All Might by sending him into a coma and exposing his weak form for the world to see. Oh, and he's arrested and sentenced to Tartarus by the Hero Commission.
