  • Accidental Innuendo: In the May 29th livestreams, Martyn accuses Jimmy of defiling his land by launching a piece of TNT there, which he did because Martyn almost froze him to death with his powers.
Jimmy: I'll defile them. I'll defile you and the lands.
    Scott: You'll do WHAT?!
    Jimmy: I mean, I'll defile the lands.note
  • Fanon: Especially when it comes to character design:
    • There has been a tendency to give various non-Human characters swishy tails in general.
    • Many artistic depictions of Chillager Martyn give him black, goat-like horns like those of the Colins, due to him declaring himself a guardian of them. Oddly, his thumbnail artist CherriFire doesn't draw him with these horns, but does with the stick puppet figure of Martyn's real-life daughter Amelia.
  • Friendly Fandoms:
    • With the Empires SMP due to creator overlap; 14 of the 19 server-members have been rulers on the series in either or both seasons (read: it's every ruler-character other than False), and another 3 members have been whitelisted as guest characters, mainly in Season 2.note
    • By extension and overlapping friendship circles between creators, many New Life fans are also fans of Hermitcraft. There is also some creator overlap between the two series, with Gem, Pearl, and Scar being on both servers and Pixlriffs as the narrator of the Hermitcraft Recap companion show.
    • Also by extension and creator overlap, many New Life fans are also fans of the Life SMP series. During the announcement of the show, some viewers even initially confused the series as the 5th season of the Life series due to having similar names, hence the disclaimer on the main media page.
    • Further extending the MCYT fandom interconnection, many New Life fans have also been Dream SMP fans, former or current, and many think Martyn's "Philzer Fridge Freezers" business is way funnier than he intended it to be due to an inside joke about the DSMP lore.
  • Genius Bonus: Through the mod-pack, onions can be harvested from Allium flowers in-game. In botany, the Allium genus encompasses onions, leeks, shallots, chives, and garlic.
  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • Martyn's 4th episode ends with a segment of him gathering materials to build a limestone generator, with his real-life daughter Amelia, aged 3 at the time, providing joint commentary. The episode is also coincidentally uploaded on Father's Day, 2023. It's about as adorable as it sounds.
    • In Owen's Episode 12 and finale, despite having not appeared on the server in months by that point, Scar is found to have left an old message to Sparrow and some spare parts to help him fix up his plane.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • Owen's 2nd episode, initially titled "Modded Minecraft is TERRIFYING!" and later retitled "The most TERRIFYING Minecraft Mod", absolutely holds truth in its title, considering the camera view switches to the perspective of the Nether mobs chasing Sparrow (Nagas), and they're everywhere. What's worse is that by the time the episode is released, Gem's already died to one of them in her 2nd episode. The intense music in the episode doesn't help at all.
    • Seapeekay's first death is immense Mood Whiplash in that he was going exploring with no armour on at the time, and got suddenly teleported into an Ancient City which he barely even knows exists, let alone how to run from two Wardens while inflicted with Darkness.
    • Owen's 5th episode, titled "I dug too far...", is horrifying on two levels: the first one is obvious, as it ends with Sparrow and his drill tunneling into a Deep Dark biome and the camera cutting away as a Sculk Shrieker is activated. The second one starts much earlier in the episode, when Sparrow's robotic programming interrupts his plan to visit some friends to go on these mining excursions in the first place; combining this with his criticism of himself and hazy memories as a Human in the previous episode, we can now make a very convincing case that Sparrow is losing his humanity the longer he holding the Copper Golem origin and being a hybrid is not all that cracked up to be, especially from his initially idealistic perspective.
