• Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: In the sequel, the uncle lets all the farm's piglets out of their pen and the children have to hunt them down, and Nanny McPhee decides that dragging out this task further will teach them a lesson in teamwork. Which justifies making the pigs harder to catch by granting them some speed and agility, but seriously... synchronized swimming?

• Even Better Sequel: Nanny McPhee Returns is widely considered to be the superior of the two movies due to its more fleshed out characters and even better humor by both reviewers and fans.

• Hilarious in Hindsight: Maggie Gyllenhaal dragging someone in handcuffs may remind some of Secretary.

• Squick: The montage which depicts the farm as full of mud and poop.

• The Woobie: The Greens, who have their father involved in the war.
