Headscratchers / Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang

• Why is the second film called "Nanny Mcphee Returns" in the U.S.? I've tried looking this up and can't find any explanation. Does anyone actually know?

  • They aren't in the US. The film was probably shot in the US but it takes place in Britain.
  • The film has a different name in the U.S., but isn't set there.

  • The old woman, Mrs. Docherty, is meant to be Aggie from the first film. So, in a loose way, it is a return.

• So how or when does Nanny McPhee become ugly again between jobs?
  • Probably her magic.

• In the sequel, why does Nanny McPhee forgive the bird when all of the good he did was by accident? (He only ate the putty because it's his Trademark Favourite Food, and doing the harvest and getting rid of Topsy and Turvy was just by accident because of his gas).
  • Mr. Edelweiss is forgiven, since he willingly helped out the children by eating the explosive putty covering the third wire of the bomb. It was Nanny McPhee's magic that let her stop him from exploding, bring in the harvest, and use the burp to remove Topsy and Turvey. They are not simple accidents. The only reason that she didn't like him originally was because he ate the putty holding her window panes in place, so they all fell out at once (getting collywobbles and gas in the process).
    • Except he didn't eat the putty to help the children; he did it because he just likes putty.
