Age of Zombies | Monster Dash | Jetpack Joyride | Jetpack Joyride 2

  • Accidental Nightmare Fuel: Barry's death animation is being Stripped to the Bone, with parts of his skeleton being broken apart. While it's nothing too bad, this might scare an unprepared player, as even generally bloodier Age of Zombies had a tame death animation. This was changed in April 2021 to something that is both less terrifying and still makes sense in context of the story; After Barry runs out of health, a portal appears next to him, where he quickly jumps into to continue his journey.
  • Broken Base: Having three different versions, each drastically changing the game, would naturally lead to this.
    • Different music between 2010 and 2014 versions. Those who prefer 2010 version claim that the new music ruins the atmosphere by sounding too childish. Fans of 2014 version think old soundtrack is forgettable and has very little variety as most of it is based on the same tune.
    • 2020. It removed the energy system from 2014, added costumes, dialogues for Barry, as well as various other small improvements, but removed Rainbow Cheeks (a decision that was justified as it was only meant to serve as a Suspiciously Similar Substitute for Proton Pack/Particle Thrower when the license expired, which was brought back in 2021 in its original state) and lucky charms (eventually replaced by Gadgets, similar to the ones Jetpack Joyride has). You are also forced to start the entire game from scratch, even if you have already completed all the missions long ago. The update also made going for coins and gems much harder. The opinion on graphical overhaul also depends on whether you like Battle Racing Stars art style or not. One thing that is usually agreed upon is that changing UI in April 2021 was a bad idea.
    • In 2023, Halfbrick decided to revert Monster Dash back to it's original version from 2010. Those who are highly nostalgic for that version and think that updates ruined the game were happy, while others argue that 2010 is an extremely barebones version of the game that should have been released as a separate app, instead of removing everything added over the course of almost 10 years, similar to how Fruit Ninja has a Classic version of itself alongside a regular free one.
  • Cheese Strategy: In 2014, it's entirely possible to get 100% immunity towards an obstacle such as poison, fire, or spikes using the lucky charms. Just stock up on emerald charms to get 100% poison immunity on jetpack levels and you can zip through them with ease. You could also rack up on a lot of coins if you stock up on topaz charms to make progression easier.
  • Creepy Cute: The monsters are this, being stock Hollywood monsters with chibi designs.
  • Game-Breaker:
    • With a high-powered Mr. Zappy, it's pretty easy to zap your way through monsters.
    • Fruit Ninja Blade. Despite it's range being just a little longer than the shotgun's, it gives you double jump and has a charged attack, especially useful in 2020 overhaul. Some missions, that allow you to play with this weapon for free (i.e. "Enter the Ninja"), make a good place to grind for coins.
    • Crossbow is an extremely good weapon that can be described as a better version of Pacifier. Not only does it have enough ammo to breeze though monsters, but it can also get rid of spikes, efficiently leaving pits as the only thing you need to worry about.
  • That One Achievement:
    • "Monster Lover" is similar to the equally difficult "The Germaphobe" achievement from Jetpack Joyride in that you need to be a complete pacifist and don't kill any monsters for 2000m. The problem is that it becomes increasingly hard to jump over them without accidentally falling into the pit or Goomba Stomping one of them.
    • "Electric Dreams" in 2010. It requires getting Mr. Zappy five dashes in a row. The way weapons work in this version is that you only have a Shotgun — every other weapon can only be obtained through the boxes that give one of six weapons (including The Hog and Machine Gun Jetpack) once every 1000 meters. You need to be good at surviving and super lucky with the RNG to get this achievement.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Fans of the earlier versions always hated how the updates kept making the game feel less apocalyptic and dark, starting with 2014 version and it's new music. This sentiment reached it's peak with April 2021 update that completely revamped the UI into a generic menu on the blank blue background. Many think it heavily clashes with the game's Horror Comedy tone, (especially since dramatic-sounding menu theme was left unchanged) and just doesn't have a charm previous UI had with its Halloween-like wooden icons and taking place in Barry's secret hideout.
