YMMV / Mobile Suit Gundam SEED CE.73: Stargazer

Go To

  • Complete Monster: Muruta Azrael has more crimes. See that page for details.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Shams Couza is a glasses-wearing heavy weapons mobile suit pilot. His original VA would go on to voice Tieria Erde in Mobile Suit Gundam 00, who is also a glasses-wearing heavy weapons mobile suit pilot. In addition, his replacement VA would go on to voice Setsuna F. Seiei in that same anime. So in a way, Shams ends up talking to himself.
  • Memetic Loser: Mudie for being the second Gundam pilot in the Cosmic Era to have her Blu Duel be destroyed by nameless Mooks. It is a lot more jarring considering that Yzak in comparison had his weaker Master of None Duel Gundam survive the entire war before.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Mudie, Shams, and their bosses cross this when they massacre a Coordinator refugee camp simply because some terrorists may be hiding there.
  • Salvaged Story: The whole OVA is meant to appease angry fans who mercilessly lash on Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny.
    • Flashbacks are present, but offer relevant information rather than telling what viewers already know.
    • The main character is a Natural rather than a Coordinator.
    • Sven is emotionless, avoiding any issues with angst and wangst.
    • The main character also does not preach morals nor is treated as the moral center of the story, being more morally grey.
    • The story shifts back and forth between Phantom's Pain and DSSD, leaving out Orb, Terminal, ZAFT and all their related controversies.
    • The first thing that the Earth Alliance does when Junius Seven's remains fall on Earth is relief effort rather than calling for war against ZAFT.
    • In addition, the insurgency that occurs after the Junius Seven drop gave them a better Villain Has a Point based on them being well-organized and well-equipped for remnants and terrorists.
    • While the Atlantic Federation is still evil, more sympathetic characters are shown such as Sven's superior who angrily opposes Azrael and the doctor who regrets handing Sven over to Phantom Pain. There's also Reyes, an EA tank driver who knows that Selene is a Coordinator, but holds no hatred against her.
    • Edmond is a former EA officer and a Benevolent Boss, a nice change from the EA's officers found in the two previous series.
    • DSSD shows that Naturals and Coordinators can peacefully work together outside of Orb and Terminal.
  • Too Cool to Live: Edmond. He's from the EA, but isn't evil. He's a nice guy and treats people well and with respect. He unfortunately dies while saving people using his skills as a tank commander, against a GINN no less.
