YMMV / Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Go To

  • Complete Monster: In the sequel, General Krang is a vicious alien warlord seeking control of Earth. Before the series, Krang is responsible for wiping out the world of Dimension X, turning it into a barren wasteland and later killing the Power Rangers of Dimension X when they rose up against him. Krang casts out his long-time ally in Shredder to ally with Rita Repulsa in a Big Bad Duumvirate. Krang tortures Casey Jones to try and get him to comply to his will. Retrieving the members of both the Rangers' and Turtles' Rogues Galleries, Krang and Rita use them to attack Angel Cove and enslave the populace to build machines to conquer the world. Destroying the Rangers' Zords, Krang transforms the remains into a mech suit for himself to render the Earth extinct, admitting that ultimately the planet is of no true importance to him, he just wants to defeat the heroes for daring to stand up to him.
  • Evil Is Cool: The very concept of Shredder wielding the Green Ranger powers to be stronger than ever caught on immediately. The splash page of him morphed for the first time is the most memorable and iconic moment of the crossover, and he was so popular he got a toy release.
  • Magnificent Bastard:
    • The Shredder is the dangerous, ruthless, and honorable leader of the Foot Clan. After he manipulates the undercover Green Ranger Tommy into a trap and steals his Dragonzord, Shredder teams with Rita Repulsa to take down their collective foes. Shredder works with Rita to remove the Power Rangers' abilities and unleash monsters on the Turtles, before personally using a Zord to try to wipe them out himself. Though beaten, Shredder is willing to go out fighting, and later flees from Rita's alliance when he discovers she has teamed with Kraang to enslave humanity. Proclaiming that Earth belongs to him and no one else, Shredder allies with the Turtles and Rangers to fight off the invading Dimension X armies, and regularly goes out of his way to save his allies. Ultimately using a Zord to take down Kraang's giant robot form, Shredder saves the world with the heroes and, though he parts ways amicably with the Turtles, he reveals he has allied with Lord Zedd to further scheme the conquest of Earth.
    • Rita Repulsa is a charming enchantress whose skills for subterfuge and manipulation are more competent than ever. Rita first duels Shredder for the Dragonzord he stole from Tommy before the villains decide to work together, leading the Power Rangers into an ambush and removing their powers before unleashing monsters that nearly kills the Turtles. When their initial plan is defeated, Rita takes the opportunity to coerce Shredder into escaping with her to Dimension X, the witch having her own plans to use its advanced technology and an alliance with Kraang to win the day. Rita betrays Shredder and teams with Kraang to invade Earth, staging a variety of assaults and transforming minions into powerful mutants to weaken Earth's defenses. Deducing that Casey Jones has faked his allegiance to her, Rita transforms him into her puppet and uses him to nearly eliminate the Turtles and pave the way for Dimension X's victory.
  • Moment of Awesome: April O'Neil getting to become the Pink Ranger and proving to be more than up to the task. No one ever needs to save her... April can hold her own easily in a fight as a Ranger
    • A villianous one: When Shredder morphs he forces the Green Ranger costume to turn into his armor. Rita says this should be impossible but Shredder's will is so great he is able to bend the coin to obey him.
    • Billy figuring out how to use one of Donatello's inventions to turn Metalhead into a zord... and then Zordon helping the Rangers and Turtles combine the Megazord with it to create the Turtle Megazord!
      • And then in the sequel, it COMBINES WITH THE DRAGONZORD.
  • Popular with Furries: The Rangers mutated forms rapidly gained the Furry Fandom's attention.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: The Rat King is one of the new TMNT villains in the sequel. However, he only shows up for one memorably creepy appearance in its first issue, having no effect on the overall conflict besides a clue to Ranger X's existence. It doesn't help that he's historically an unaffiliated villain.
    • Some fans felt Karai should've been Ranger X instead of Casey.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The Foot Putties are introduced as a new, terrible foe... who only appear for 2 pages and within a few panels turn on the normal foot for no reason and kill them. They then disappear and are only brought up once as having "issues".
  • Unexpected Character: The sequel miniseries introduces this continuity's take on Leatherhead, Slash and Rat King. This is quite the surprise, considering how these villains typically don't appear in TMNT crossovers alongside major ones like Shredder and Krang.
