• Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Chapter 2 when Pearl finds Steven watching porn.
• Harsher in Hindsight:
  • Chapter 8 shows Zoisite brutally raping 12-year-old Connie. The following chapter has an Author's Note dedicated to Justin Carmical, who'd killed himself that year in 2014. Four years later, he was posthumously revealed to have sexually groomed underage girls while still a producer at Channel Awesome.
  • Steven kills Zoisite and Zircornia completely by accident at the end of Chapter 13 and then expresses remorse over what's he done by puking in Chapter 14. Steven himself would not kill (or shatter) a Gem until over five years later in Steven Universe: Future when he accidentally shattered Jasper in the episode "Fragments."
• Nausea Fuel: Pretty much every scene that's Gorn could count as this.
• Nightmare Fuel: Zoisite's first murder while in blob form is described in graphic detail. Also, the subsequent murders he commits are this.
  • Seriously, good luck trying to forget that he liquefies people to death.
