YMMV / Lucky Star: After Story

Go To

  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The hypnosis scenes during the honeymoons of Konata and Kagami, and later Yutaka and Minami (the author even admits that both scenes can be skipped if the reader is sensitive to such fetish-y material). Subverted in the former case in that the scene was brought up at the beginning of the next chapter.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • Tomoyo Yoshida, who was first introduced at the end of the Tsukasa and Miyuki arc (they meet her in Central Park in New York), in Chapter 17. See also Win Back the Crowd below.
    • Hiroko Yoshida, Tomoyo's younger sister, introduced in Chapter 21, also qualifies, due to being a lovable goofball with some big musical talent.
    • Mikoto Furukawa, who was first introduced in Chapter 26 as Yutaka and Minami's classmate, is another example, possibly due to her being the most average among the original characters.
  • Growing the Beard: Starting around Chapter 20 or so, the chapters started getting longer and the writing was getting better as well. Earlier chapters had as little as 1,500 words (Chapter 4), Chapter 30 was the first chapter of the story to run over 5,000 words (5,386 to be exact).
  • Chapter Decay: Chapter 15 and Chapter 16 were both criticized for having an overabundance of useless facts being displayed at the end of the chapter.
    • It didn't help that at the exact same time as that arc was being written, the author was also deep into work on his Vocaloid fanfic From Concert to Chaos.
      • Win Back the Crowd: The author seemed to realize the arc was dropping in quality, and issued a written apology at the start of Chapter 17. Not only that, but he added original character Tomoyo into the ever-growing cast.
    • Chapter 31, at least according to the author himself. However, he has promised Chapter 32 will be much better written.
