• Tear Jerker: The film has plenty of moments like these.
  • The Odone family spiral down a dark path simply for putting their son's life first. They go from pleasant people to rude and nervous individuals, and who could blame them?
  • Michaela's paranoia led to the family briefly losing the support of Deirdre, which undoubtedly widened the rift between her and Augusto.
  • Wendy Gimble was the Odones' closest friend during the entire situation, mainly due to her having the same predicament of having two sons with ALD, like Lorenzo. The older boy, Jaybird, died soon after the Odones met Wendy at the Foundation Family conference. When Wendy visits and her son Jake's symptoms are starting to worsen, Wendy confides in Michaela that Jake knows — "he saw the way Jaybird went" — and breaks down.
  • Wendy decides to share the Odone's research at the next ALD meeting so the officials can finally speed up the process to make the oil for every parent there, since it's proven to work for Lorenzo and Jake. This leads to everyone anxiously asking where the oil is and how to get it, even hearing one worried father saying he padded his walls yesterday (so his son wouldn't hurt himself) and he wants that oil. The Odone family weren't the only ones suffering.
  • Augusto and Michaela realizing that all their efforts to save Lorenzo from his ALD is probably all for naught because he's too far into his symptoms that the oil could only do so much, and have to accept that their efforts have helped countless of people suffering through what they went through.
