YMMV / Home Alone (Game Boy)

Go To

  • Good Bad Bugs: Losing a life when you have exactly 10 lives will actually give Kevin more lives, due to the hexadecimal thinking he had 16 lives.
  • It's Short, So It Sucks!: There are only five levels in the entire game, including the final Boss-Only Level.
  • Nintendo Hard: Given it's an Imagineering game, there are a lot of things that make the game harder. There's a lack of healing items, enemies are almost everywhere and it's possible for items to be lost if the player isn't careful.
  • Paranoia Fuel: Harry and Marv can show up randomly in any of the rooms and won't stop chasing you unless they're defeated. The game gave many kids anxiety back in the day.
  • Scrappy Mechanic: Getting hit by a basement boss in the first three levels will cause Kevin to get knocked back by quite a lot.
  • Scrappy Weapon: The slingshot is easily the game's worst weapon. It takes many hits to defeat most enemies and while ammo is common for it, there are better weapon choices to use.
  • The Problem with Licensed Games: It's probably one of the best games on a Nintendo platformer that is based on a Home Alone film, which is not saying much. It still has several issues, like Kevin being difficult to control due to the game demanding pinpoint platforming, having to figure out manually what weapons damage criminals and being only a few levels long.
