Funny Moments: The game starts with a scrawny old lady in a nightgown nailing the protagonist over the head with a big stick, like something out of Looney Tunes. The remake version, however, manages to be genuinely terrifying.
Good Bad Bugs: The game is so amateur, it has plenty of glitches, with a handful being useful or entertaining.
Moment of Awesome: Whenever you successfully escape the house, with a disappointed Granny watching you leave. The best one is you escaping by car, breaking through the garage door while an awesome tune plays and the camera closing up onto Granny.
Moral Event Horizon: Granny had already crossed it before the game's events by capturing a previous person and killing them.
Narm: Granny's voice and her lines sound hilarious. Their original, not-sped-up versions found in the files are even more hilarious! There's a reason why the remake did away with them, and replaced them with inhuman creaking noises.
"DO YOU WANT TO PLAY HIDE AND SEEK???? Heh heh heh..."
"I SEE YOU..."
Narm Charm: The graphics look crude as if they were made in the 90s-early 2000s, contrasted to more modern-looking horror games, but they still manage to put up a good fright, helped by the intimidating gameplay.
Once you get used to Granny's Nightmare Face, it looks more like a surprised horse than an intimidating zombie. In fact, the low-poly and unrealistic graphics can make the game look less frightening to some players.
Paranoia Fuel: Granny can hear every sound you make, and she may be hot on your trail. You also need to watch where you're going, especially for Bear Traps, the Giant Spider, and the hole in the attic floor, in which the last two can lose you a day.
Tear Jerker: Granny goes on Unstoppable Rage if you pick up the teddy bear. Once you throw the teddy bear into the crib, Slendrina's ghost appears. If you complete this step and escape, you get an alternate ending in which Granny is sitting on the front door steps holding the teddy bear while Slendrina's ghost stands in the doorway. Considering how Granny is Slendrina's grandmother and the teddy can be inferred to be Slendrina's favorite toy, this is quite sad.
Funny Moments: Sometimes during the game, Grandpa will go to the kitchen, approach the radio, and dance! To the fan favorite "Granny's House" by FGTeeV, nonetheless. It's even funnier when you're outside the kitchen and hear it playing out of the blue.
Moment of Awesome: Escaping by helicopter. The victorious fanfare and the disappointed look of Grandpa and Granny makes the experience like you're going to heaven.
Narm: Grandpa's voice lines, like Granny's, are starling at first, but wear down to this trope after a while due to how funny Grandpa's voice sounds.
