  • Alternate Character Interpretation: If her death is prevented by the party during the Jenova-LIFE fight, Aerith will continue to take part in the events of the second and third disks. However, she's shown to not be very insistant in her pursuit of Cloud after the events of the Forgotten City. Outside of an optional conversation unlocked after the flashback of Zack's death, she barely makes a reference to a potential interest in him. And even during said scene, her comment that it's maybe her who has found someone else can sound more like a playful teasing and a joke. On the contrary, some of her actions can be interpreted as her pushing Tifa and Cloud into each other's arms. After Tifa's rescued from her execution by the Shinra, Aerith will encourage her to find Cloud and, if in the party when they actually find him, she will encourage Tifa to stay with him while she leaves with the others. She will comment she knew that Tifa could do it when Cloud's memories are restored. After Tifa and Cloud share their romantic moment at the end of Disk 2, she doesn't seem bothered by it, and she will be satisfied if Cloud lifts Tifa's spirit during the Disk 3's idle dialogue choice in the Highwind. Therefore, the question remains if her interest in Cloud eventually faded away; if she remained in love with him, but chose to push him into Tifa's arms because she thought it would be best for them; or if she was still intending to try to win him over, but the events prevented her from having the occasion, and she eventually took her defeat with grace.
  • Angst? What Angst?: If saved, Aerith isn't shown to be particularly traumatized by her near death at the hands of Sephiroth. The first time she directly mentions it is if Cloud tries to give her the Black Materia. Even then, it's basically to comment that she doesn't want to take it because the track record between her and him is 0–1 in favor of Sephiroth, so she doesn't want to tempt fate.
  • Breather Boss: While one huge aim of the Mod is to make any boss a decent challenge by giving them a stat boost and a better moveset, a few of them are still comically out of their league when they fight the party.
    • Yuffie is scripted to heal herself 10 times before finally going down, so in theory her fight should be a Marathon Boss. However, she is also facing all 5 party members at the same time. (Red XIII and Barret are controlled by the AI.) Moreover, Red XIII is scripted to use Lunatic High at the beginning of the fight even if he hasn’t learned it yet, Yuffie doesn’t have much HP to begin with, and her attacks aren't very threatening. So it’s next to impossible to lose this fight if you know what you’re doing. All in all, the 'boss battle' feels more like Yuffie’s getting a pummeling.
    • Palmer is probably the only boss who hasn’t been made harder compared to the original. While your characters are stronger thanks to the SP system. You do the maths.
  • Complacent Gaming Syndrome:
    • While the SP system can allow the player to avoid it, since it proposes a wide variety of builds, there are some builds which seem more obvious or are easier to pull through.
      • It's hard to make Tifa into anything other than a physical fighter, if one wants to use her Limit Breaks to their full potential.
      • Since several of her weapons don't do physical damage on a hit, instead healing the target or draining its MP, players are subtly encouraged to use Aerith as a mage.
      • Barret's innate ability has him gain some sort of bonus every time he's hit (attack bonus if in the front row, 6% HP recovery if in the back row). Therefore, the most obvious way to capitalize on his ability is to play him as some sort of tank or Mighty Glacier, with the Counterattack and Cover Materia - both of which he has in his starting equipment.
    • When it comes to stats, Dexterity is the most important one. No matter what build the player chooses, they should make sure the Dexterity isn't too low, or else the character may become too slow to be useful. On the other hand, when a character has a high Dexterity, it's as if they permanently have the Haste status effect without its drawbacks.note
  • That One Boss:
    • Ironically, given the fact that it's one of the easiest fights of the original game, the Airbuster will be a nasty surprise for unsuspecting players in the Type A scenario. To compensate the fact that the boss is in a disadvantageous position, the mod makes it start with Reflect on to counter lightning magic and gives it a huge boost in HP; to the point that, even with the boost in damage, it will take quite some time to destroy the robot. Micro-managing the Limit Breaks to hit it when its back is exposed is basically the best strategy. Plus, Air Buster's attacks deal a decent amount of damage for the early game, while your healing options are limited (especially due to the fact that healing spells cost more MP). Add into the mix the fact that this boss automatically counter-attacks, which allows it to stack up damage quickly, and you get one opponent you shouldn't underestimate because of its vanilla counterpart. If one wasn't using healing items yet, this boss will teach the hard way how useful they can be during the early game.
    • Jenova-DEATH is a very brutal opponent, with powerful (but thankfully single-hitting) attacks it uses two or three times in a row, making the Barrier Materia more or less mandatory to survive. Plus, its gimmick is that the heroes' attacks at first inflict next to no damage, and that its defenses grow slowly weaker the more the heroes hit it. However, it can take a while to even figure that out. A while, and several wasted Limit Breaks. Hopefully you didn't use them right at the start of the fight! Jenova-DEATH also has access to Instant-Death spell and 'Gas' (which inflicts the Death Sentence status). In fact, tellingly, Jenova-DEATH was nerfed by the v2.0994 update, which reduced by 4000 its HP to 36,000 and increased the defence deterioration when attacked - though it remains a test of the player's skill and strategy.
    • The Wolfpack Boss fight against a bunch of troopers and two Presidential Guards in the control room during the Junon Weapon Raid can ironically be a very tough fight under some circumstances. While the opponents are a mere squad of Mooks, and therefore aren't very durable, their sheer number means they can kill a character quickly if they all focus on the same one, so it's best to have a strategy to eliminate the weaker Junon troopers as quickly as possible.note  The Presidential Guards also may use a powerful Mako Bomb when defeated, which can be a total-party kill if the characters are low on health, especially if the two guards are defeated at the same time. Plus, the player only has Barret and Cait Sith for the battle unless they have saved Aerith.
