YMMV / Doctor Whooves Adventures

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The soundtrack borrows heavily from the Doctor Who OST. There is also original music, including the Theme Tune (a rearrangement of the Doctor Who theme that includes the opening bars of the My Little Pony theme) and the lullaby in Goodnight Goodnight.
  • Fridge Horror: Somewhere on Earth… is there now a Weeping Happily Painted Toad?
    • Apparently. But the Doctor wouldn't release an actual danger on us, now would he?
  • Memetic Mutation: In The Search, after Wrex's cameo, the Doctor does some...calibrations.
    • Word Of God: That was unintentional. Sithking Zero can do a really good Wrex voice, and they wanted to incorporate that in somehow... but the "Calibrations" joke? Unintentional.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • The first serial had the Weeping Angels/Pegasi as the antagonist. Yes, those Weeping Angels.
    • Shadows of the Lunar Republic features the Vashta Nerada, only in here they're more powerful and scarier. Especially having, fed off Princess Luna for nearly twenty years so that Viva would be spared.
  • Tear Jerker: The episode Goodnight Goodnight, done as a 'get well soon' tribute to Lauren Goodnight, the voice actor for Twilight who was recovering from eye surgery at the time. If your eyes don't get misty listening to that episode, you don't have a soul.
    • Or you're Lauren Goodnight, and, well, yeah.
    • Dorian's backstory from Chords of Chaos/Pony of the Opera. It's easy to get misty when he explains what happened to him, or at least squeeze out a single tear when Lydian's ghostly memory shows up to talk to him.
    • Rhapsody in Blue Box. The Doctor has no choice but to watch as Penny Dreadful, who became his companion after Twilight left him, is erased from existence due to a time paradox unravelling. Judging from what he says prior, she only came into existence because her parents met at Twilight's coronation as the new Princess of Equestria — an event that was never supposed to happen and is now knocking history completely off-track. And even though we the audience have only just met Penny and heard her story before he loses her forever, his grief and guilt are heartbreaking. For her part, she tries to assure him that she's okay with her death, now that she remembers the adventures they shared, and she's relieved to know that her friend and roommate Leaflet will be alright.
    • Last Light: The Doctor stays with the Universe herself as she is dying. Especially moving as she was fully expecting to die alone.
