  • Many of the details of operating aircraft on land and at sea are not commented on by the pilots, such as tail-dragger planes taxiing in a zig-zag pattern. It's difficult to see the plane's nose while on the ground, so they zig-zag instead of going straight and get a look ahead by looking left and right. Once the plane gains takeoff speed, the tail lifts up and the nose drops, allowing a clear view forward.
