- Alternate Character Interpretation: Before his past history is revealed, Dr. Miranda hypocritically praises the work that Gerardo is doing bringing torturers from the dictatorship to justice. He makes many remarks suggesting that he hated the regime and its minions. Is it all a ruse to cover his tracks, or does he feel genuine guilt for what he did and thus projects that guilt as hatred of the other perpetrators?
