• In the small arc where Death brings Mercedes home, he has to carry he her there, and his "nephew" Le Petite Mort tells him that he will be needed in a few minutes. However, it turns out that Mercedes' boyfriend Robert was waiting for her, causing lil' Death to apologize after seeing big Death in shock. This could be taken to mean that he will be needed for Mercedes and Robert, except that when lil' Death was introduced, the author explains that le petite mort also means large swings in emotion, like shock.
