YMMV / Cars 3: Driven to Win

Go To

  • Game-Breaker: Bigger vehicles like Dr. Damage, Miss Fritter, Arvy and Mack are incredibly overpowered in terms of acceleration and handling especially the latter to the point that this makes races and best lap challenges a breeze to do so if used well.
  • Nintendo Hard: The Hard difficulty setting, mostly for the A.I.s.
  • No Problem with Licensed Games: Cars 3: Driven to Win is a very well-done racing game with tight controls and wide variety in characters, game modes, and tracks. It certainly helps that it was developed by Avalanche Software.
  • Questionable Casting: Due to the game being produced and developed during the 2016-2017 SAG-AFTRA voice actor strike, almost none of the original actors reprised their roles for the game, with most of the characters being voiced by little-knowns who sound nothing like the original actors. The American Milton James trying to do a Mexican accent as Ramone is perhaps the biggest offender.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character:
    • Despite having a major fole in the film, Luigi is completely absent from the game (even though unused audio files suggest he was going to appear and even be playable), despite his companion Guido appearing.
    • While Bobby Swift appears in the game, Cal Weathers, Lightning's other friend from the track and the King's nephew, doesn't, having been skipped in favour of Brick Yardley, who only had a speaking role in one scene.
  • Unexpected Character: While Mater was obviously going to be playable in the game given his importance to the series, nobody expected Mater the Greater to be a boss, given that he hails from Mater's Tall Tales and is the only playable character that didn't appear in Cars 3.
