- Awesome Music: The Bright & Shiny cult's theme song is one of the best parts of the movie. "BRIGHT!!! ...AND SHIIIIIIINYYYYY!!!"
- Crosses the Line Twice: Mrs. Livingston's plan for how to get the police to act quicker? Forge the most offensive ransom note imaginable.Mrs. Livingston: "Mr. and Ms. Livingston, we have kidnapped your son. Pay $100,000 dollars or he dies. Signed, the Jews." Are you kidding? Are you kidding? Who in their right mind is going to believe this note? It's the Jews, Morton! They're going to want more than $100,000!
- Ensemble Dark Horse: Zach Galifianakis as a bus toll booth attendant who is in the movie for all of two minutes.
- Fridge Logic: Pointed out by Slim who, upon first meeting Jimmy, taps the bubble-suit and asks "...how do you take a dump in that thing?"
- Hilarious in Hindsight:
- Both Jake Gyllenhaal and John Carroll Lynch were in Zodiac in antagonistic roles.
- This wouldn't be the last time Jake Gyllenhal would wear a globe.
- One-Scene Wonder: Zach Galifianakis is in the movie for only two minutes and ended up being involved in arguably one of the funniest scenes.
- One True Threesome: Between Slim, Mrs. Livingston, and Mr. Livingston, if the ending is any indication.
- Also between Pappy, Poonnanny, and Pippy.
- What Do You Mean, It's Not for Kids?: Disney got into some trouble for this. For whatever reason, the trailer for this film was attached to films like The Princess Diaries, and the trailer that was attached to the film (Bubble Boy) itself? Max Keeble's Big Move. Let that sink in for a bit.
