YMMV / Bad Girls Club

Go To

  • Audience Awareness Advantage: In season 6, people thought that Char's "minions" were idiots for not clearly seeing that Char didn't actually care about them, however, Char genuinely acted like she was friends with her followers in order to manipulate them further, so it's no wonder they didn't figure things out until the reunion.
  • Badass Decay: This could arguably apply to everyone who was on Season 13, but it's most commonly applied to Rocky, who left season 10 as a loveable and feisty replacement who was adored by everyone after enduring the hell that she was put through in that house. In season 13, she's petty and childish and downright mean most of the time, and seemingly can't do anything without Jada cosigning her, the exact opposite of why she gained a strong fanbase in the first place.
  • Base-Breaking Character: Two words, Natalie Nunn. Natalie is such a base breaker that she could damn near be the trope namer, as she has a legion of vicious fans who worship her for being the one to put BGC on the map and skyrocket it's success, and for being one of the biggest alpha bitches that the show has ever seen. Her detractors however, think that she is single handedly the reason for everything wrong with the franchise post season 4. She's rude, loud, obnoxious, a bully, and entitled, and her many, many, many copycats after her season are arguably what ruined the show's original authenticity.
    • Season 7's Stasi is also a base breaking cast member. Was she a real, authentic woman who didn't take any shit and genuinely wanted to see Judi get her act together, even if it meant dealing out tough love? Or was she a fake, phony control freak who tried to manipulate and bully everyone and force herself into the big sister role for Judi when she didn't ask for that?
    • Camilla from season 8. She's highly regarded among BGC fans as a badass who put the unlikeable bullies and "jumpahoes" in their place by relentlessly trolling them and beating the shit out of them, but a lot of fans tend to think that she's just a miserable bully herself, and a hypocrite (Remember when she jumped Christine?) The fan divide about Camilla only grew wider after her stints on Bad Girls All Star Battle 2 and Season 13.
    • Julie from season 9 is either seen as one of the greatest BGC villains of all time who manipulated an entire cast of girls into sending each other home, or as a weak, spineless coward who needed an army of girls behind her to do anything, and couldn't stand on her own if her life depended on it.
      • A lot of girls from season 9 could be seen as this. Erika and Mehgan are either praised for whooping Julie and her followers' asses both in the house and at the reunion and for their quotable one liners, or they're dragged for being hypocritical, for participating in the bullying of Rima and following Julie themselves until it was no longer convenient for them to do so. Mehgan's treatment of Andrea especially is a sore spot for fans.
    • Shannon from season 10. Some fans think that she's a strong woman who was the only person to offer a friendly hand to Rocky when the rest of the house ostracized her, and was generally a kindhearted person who gave everyone a chance, and thought that her revenge against her "bullies" at the reunion was justified. Other fans think that she's a weak, wangsty, self victimizing loser who manipulated Rocky into trusting her and played the "bully" angle for more sympathy. It doesn't help that she made racist comments towards Valentina and put a drunk, naked Rocky in bed with a man.
      • Rocky to a lesser extent. While she was nearly universally loved after season 10, there were a few people who thought that she wasn't as innocent as she was portrayed, and that she often provoked the other girls' negative reactions towards her on purpose. She lost fans after season 13, where her bad qualities were given more airtime and she became more of a base-breaker.

    • Redd is either funny, endearing and quotable, or she's an obnoxious, domineering loudmouth who sucks the life out of every room she enters. Her detractors usually point to her treatment of Jada as creepy and borderline predatory.
      • Jada herself is a base breaker, especially after season 13. A lot of fans loved Jada in season 12 because she stood up for herself no matter if the entire house was against her, and never backed down from anyone. Other people think that she's a hypocrite, annoying, and thirsty for relevancy. Going against fan favorites Judi and Sarah in season 13 did her popularity no favors.
    • Jela and The Clermont twins from season 14 are either seen as boss bitches who made the other girls mad just for existing, or they're seen as spoiled brats and bullies who deserved for everything they owned to be ruined.
    • Seven from season 17 has a lot of fans online who praise her for her fighting skills and being real, but a lot of fans think that she was boring and did nothing but follow Keyaira.
  • Cargo Ship: Judi and Miss Voodoo for sure.
    • In season 11, Sarah and Moe the hippo
  • Lgbt Fanbase: The BGC fanbase is mainly made up of gay men.
  • Les Yay: Where do we begin?
    • Ashley and Rima of season 9 had a lot of moments that could double
  • Memetic Mutation: "I DIDN'T GET NO FUCKIN' SLEEP CUZ OF Y'ALL! Y'ALL NOT GONNA GET NO SLEEP CUZ OF ME!" explanation
  • Never Live It Down: Tasha from season 7 will always be known as a raging homophobe who constantly used the f-slur and got a scathing reception from Perez Hilton at the reunion.
    • Julie will always be remembered for, if not her Manipulative Bitch ways, being beaten to a pulp at the reunion by the victims of her manipulation and having mustard and cranberry juice poured all over her on her birthday . It's so infamous that receiving Laser-Guided Karma at the reunion is now referred to as the Julie treatment.
    • Similarly, Valentina will always be known as the girl who got beat up so badly by "Shanrock" that she had to go to the hospital before the reunion even began.
    • Alicia will always be known for trying to sneak attack Rocky and failing, attacking a drunk girl that was sitting down and still ending up on the bottom getting her face pounded in.
    • Season 11 will always be referred to as "the jumping season", due to the way the Wolfpack violently jumped every girl that entered the house.
    • Tess will always be known as that girl who left the bad girl house after 12 hours
  • One-Scene Wonder: Morgan stayed in the house for all of 48 hours, but is still one of the most relevant and recognizable bad girls of all time.
  • Poor Man's Substitute: Mehgan and Char looking similar to each other is a running joke in the franchise and the fanbase, with Erika pointing it out the first episode of season 9.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: The Victor twins went from being an all out hate sink for their treatment of replacement Elease, constant jumping, and whiny behavior, to the fan opinion of them shifting more towards base breaking characters towards the end of their season. After their Laser-Guided Karma, fans began to appreciate them more as loveable alpha bitches, and for their comic relief.
    • Valentina from season 10 was a MAJOR scrappy during her season's run (See: The Scrappy for more details), with almost no one liking her or her partner in crime Alicia after being a violent bully all season. When she returned to Bad Girls All Star Battle 2, she returned having clearly learned the error of her ways, and spent that season being a genuinely nice and sweet person who stayed out of drama, a complete 180 from how she acted previously.
    • Season 11's Tiana also turned her reputation around on All Star Battle 2. She was previously a member of the disgusting Wolfpack, who jumped a girl so brutally that they had to be fined for it. Without the rest of the Wolfpack around, Tiana's true personality shined through and fans got to see how she acted without a group of girls to help her gang up on others.
    • Redd from season 12 was a base breaker at best and an all around scrappy at worst, but towards the end of her season and after her stint on Season 13, she was appreciated more for her humor and her troll-like personality.
  • Romantic Plot Tumor: The showmance between Blu and Aysia became repetitive and boring very quickly, especially when it became reason for the other girls to slut-shame Aysia and their romance plot took up most of the show. To be fair, the other storylines that season were pretty stale depending on who you ask as well.
  • The Scrappy: Ailea from season 3, for being an all out nasty person towards The Ambers, especially Amber M. Fans especially loathed her after she and Whitney jumped Amber M in the street and kicked her in the head repeatedly.
    • You'd have a hard time finding someone who likes Tasha from season 7. In addition to being whiny, complaining all the time, and being a judgmental bitch who seemed allergic to fun, she was also openly racist and homophobic, using the f-slur on national television several times even after Shelly, who was a lesbian and also her friend, asked her to stop.
      • Shelly herself wasn't particularly liked either, her obsession with bullying Judi and her ruining Stasi's contacts and refusing to own up to it even after Stasi had already fought her over it didn't win her any fans.
    • Rima from season 9 went from having the sympathy of the viewers and being on her way to being a fan favorite, to being by far one of the most hated girls that season. Her poor treatment of Ashley (who had been the only one to stand up for Rima when the whole house was against her), her desperation to be in with Julie and Falen, and her suddenly developing a big and bad attitude when girls started leaving the house made her fan adoration all but disappear.
    • Alicia and Valentina were no doubt the most hated girls from season 10. The way that they brutally jumped Janae and humiliated her by dumping food all over her, were huge hypocrites, talked about their friends and even each other behind their backs, framed Rocky for talking shit about Nancy and then jumped her too, and slut-shamed Rocky all season earned them a burning hatedom by the time the season came to a close.
    • THE WOLFPACK. Not only did they jump, bully, and gang up on girls as a collective until they either quit the show or were removed for being "liabilities", but they were also massive karma houdinis. A lot of the other scrappies from past seasons received karma for their abhorrent actions, but the members of the Wolfpack went largely unscathed, with their victims usually being the ones punished for their own jumpings. They never received a proper beatdown for their actions, and even at the reunion, the most that happened was a scolding from Tanisha, which a lot of fans thought was too light and not scathing enough.
  • Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: Watching a group of emotionally stunted women fight and bully each other over the pettiest things proved to get repetitive after a while, as ratings began to drop after season 11, the season in which four different girls were violently jumped, and the only likeable girls were sent home, leaving a group of unlikeable bullies who ganged up and picked off every girl that entered the house. The jumping and bullying became so bad, that a no jumping rule was put into effect from season 12 onward.
  • The Woobie: Cordelia from season 2 was bullied to the point of having a panic attack by Tanisha and her friends. That's enough to make anyone feel sorry for her.
    • Season 8's Elease was a major woobie. Being locked out of the house, having her clothes destroyed, being ignored and shunned by the rest of the house, and eventually being jumped by all six originals all on her very first night in the house made her woobie status for sure.
    • Rima from season 9 was ostracized, made to sleep outside, told to kill herself, and had Erika following her around the house harassing her 24/7.
      • Andrea from the same season was ganged up on by Rima herself. She was jumped, had her clothes thrown down the side of the highway, had food and drinks poured on her, and had her stuffed animal destroyed. At the reunion, even Tanisha picked on Andrea, laughing about her treatment and saying that her weave is stiff.
    • Janae from season 10
    • Janelle from season 11
