YMMV / Angry Birds Scratch Edition

Go To

  • Awesome Music: Has its own page.
  • Badass Decay: Downplayed. Mighty Eagle and his variants don’t always destroy everything, since they do a random amount of damage instead. But despite this, they still manage to be the most powerful birds in the game.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: Remember that hell of a Tearjerker moment from Return of the Jedi where Yoda dies? Well, in this game, it’s the basis of his mechanic. In addition, he doesn’t just die, he completely stops flying and falls straight down, and he explodes if he hits the tower, which leads to him having X’s on his eyes.
  • Funny Moments:
    • The hatchling’s character description:
"You just launched a baby from a slingshot, what is wrong with you?"
    • Cream The Rabbit’s character description ends with "#stopcheeseabuse.
    • The gameplay can easily become this very quickly. Randomness? Check. Medium Awareness? Check. Stuff Blowing Up? Check. Strange character additions? Check. Memetic sound effects and characters? Check.
    • A lot of the characters are so obscure or random to the point of being hilarious. Concept Red? A hatchling? Eminem? Rick Astley? Martin Prince? The Slingshot itself? A watermelon? A golf ball? The number 2?
  • Game-Breaker: Many.
    • Mighty Eagle and his variants (see Badass Decay).
    • Garry gets jumped up on coffee and starts punching the tower until it is completely destroyed.
    • The space version of Terence, in addition to having the same body strength as the original, can also instakill the pig on top of the tower.
    • Eminem, who throws 10 spaghettis that explode on impact.
    • 2 starts making number 2s rain from the sky and explode.
    • Darth Vader does a randomized amount of damage, which can lead to everything being destroyed in one shot.
    • Godzilla is this in spades. Just throwing him at the tower will basically guarantee that everything is destroyed, and his atomic breath allows him to reach the tower from farther distances.
  • Good Bad Bugs:
    • If you activate Matilda’s ability and then hit reset before the egg hits the ground, you can have duplicate birds. This is even more overpowered with Female Matilda, since she drops 2 eggs at once. This was fixed, however.
    • In older versions, birds could use their abilities even after hitting the ground. This was also fixed.
  • Memetic Badass: Billy the Anger Management sign. He’s gone from being beaten to a pulp by Red to literally being as powerful as the Mighty Eagle with his laser beams.
  • Memetic Loser: The King from Crush The Castle, Minion Pig, Piggy McCool, Surprised Red, Baby Shark, Smurf, and Yoda. All of their mechanics involve them dying in some way. Also, Cream the Rabbit and Cheese the Chao’s gameplay involves Cheese doing a Super Mario Bros. style death.
  • Narm: The macabre version of King Pig that randomly appears on the screen with no warning is meant to be scary, but it falls flat.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: In Angry Birds 2 and Reloaded, Silver was considered the worst bird due to her loop ability being too awkward to time correctly and not being very powerful. In this game, she goes straight for the tower no matter where she is at the moment.
  • That One Boss:
    • The bosses added in the "Space Redux Part 1" update are pretty infuriating.
      • Fat Pig isn’t as bad as the other 2, but having to use 2 birds to beat him instead of 1 can be annoying.
      • Alien Pig sends spacecraft pigs at your birds that stop them in midair. He shouldn’t be too bad if you’re using Mighty Eagle variants or characters with projectiles, though.
      • Hektor Porko is probably the most annoying boss in the game, as he has a vortex near the tower, and it teleports the birds to the back if you hit it. Even worse, the speed is randomized. Also, unlike Alien Pig, even if you defeat him, the vortex does not disappear.
    • Palpatine in the Star Wars update. He works similarly to the aforementioned Alien Pig, but he shoots three projectiles (lightning bolts in this case) instead of just one.
    • The secret Prince Pork boss. Unlocking it is pretty tough already since you have to destroy 150 towers, but the boss itself is pretty frustrating as well. The first phase involves hitting him several times, which wouldn’t be so bad if there weren’t teleporting vortexes around the boss and pigs fired as projectiles. The second phase involves him constantly moving, which can be pretty annoying timing-wise, as well as the projectiles and vortexes still being used. The final phase involves him growing gigantic and using projectiles a lot more frequently as well as the vortexes (still) being used, which would be a lot easier if you had a few more birds remaining. Even worse, you only have 20 birds throughout the whole battle, so you need to use the birds wisely.
  • Unexpected Character:
    • Eminem, due to his album Recovery and Angry Birds topping iTunes charts at the same time.
    • A hologram version of Darth Maul due to him appearing in an in-game teaser for Angry Birds Star Wars II in Angry Birds Space.
    • Rick Astley, due to a Rickroll appearing in The Angry Birds Movie.
    • Martin Prince from The Simpsons of all things appeared, thanks to an episode of the show making an Angry Birds reference.
